This sounds interesting, but the thread title made me suspect a bot post.
Hey, yeah, how's that advertisement job paying these days?
Ludum Dare isn't paying as well as I was hoping.
Shame :/
Use your imagination! My brain hurts. D:
:D
It's a shame we never got around to this. :/
And you thought it worth kicking?Yes :eyes:
Yes :eyes:
You guys needed another reminder that in contest - the purple one always enters and submits something but is usually one of few (like 2) people actually doing it?I was super stoked for this awhile back. I was so ready to do this, but I don't know what happened, not enough people got behind it, I don't remember an actual theme getting picked. Since it was Nov. 2011.. hmmm. I had just begun college and stuff happened with friends so I no longer had internet, and I kind of just stopped visiting charas all together. </3

We should just do a "post something you've already made and we'll judge it" kinda contest. I've noticed that "make something from scratch" contests often fail :(Haha, yeah. Unless they're game making contests, because most Charas members have never ever finished a game before. :P

Yeah, same here, really.
I'm still working on my platformer. Coming along niceley!
I'm liking your "leftover contest" idea, Mic.
We might be able to pull that off.
The things is. I could easily go make a short game using only RTP within like 3days.rtp game contests
Because I have no leftovers. ;-;
rtp contest... would that mean no resources outside the run time package? No text pictures or custom HUDs or charaset poses of Alex or anything?
That would pretty much be the idea. Otherwise some people with amazing map skills or resource making-skills gets a huge advantage.and I like that.
If you limit yourself to the rtp resources noone have to spend time picking / making sprites and building up a style or theme or whatever. You simply make a game with what you are given.
Eh... see I would want to make a cbs and would need to use pictures for the interface. :/I can made an ABS, without using any pictures for the interface. :3
RTP makes it fair, so everyone has the same resources to work with. someone who has just a small amount of chipsets and tilesets, or someone who can't sprite well, is going to be SoLFirstly, I don't know what the latest version of RM2K3 is. I'm getting mixed reviews.FIXED!Secondly, when I test a game, it tells me it can't find System3 or whatever, leaving me guessing that the RTP hasn't installed correctly.FIXED!
Thirdly, I want the right version so I can download those cherry plugins (particles and class instances).
Fourthly, does it HAVE to be RTP? :P I mean, it's so ugly!
Giving off a resource pack'd probably feel even more limited than RTP as everyone would have to use the same stuff. Not much variety allowed.
@Felix: Isn't that even more limited than 2k3?It would be His RTP, plus normal RPG maker RTP.
@Fruck: Nah, this thread is good. :P
We need to know what goes in a poll before making it. Right now, just gathering ideas.
Yeah, but then everyone will have to make a game with Alex who does all the same thins and there will be no creativity factors on what animations they choose and the characters since everyone'll have Alex as a main character.
The point of making an rtp only game contest is to limit the creativity to what you can do with what you're given.and so it focuses on the more technical parts, like creation and events, than just graphics since everyone has to work with what they got.
If we want to make a contest that's simply "do a game, as good as you can." People will get all creative and most won't finish since they got stuck somewhere along their creative thinking.
