Title: What Movies to See?
Post by: aboutasoandthis on July 08, 2006, 07:55:37 PM
I saw Superman Returns and I saw Pirates of the Carribean 2 (I hope I spelled that right). Both were good movies for what they were trying to do. Is there anything else worth seeing?

Can you give me movies from this year to next summer? The only movie I'm interested in would be the new Transformers movie. At first I thought it would be corny, but based on just the trailer, I fear they will do it right.

I wanna see the new Spiderman movie when it comes out. It has Venom. I REALLY WANNA SEE IT.

There is a new high budget Jesus movie coming out about his birth this time.

Any recommendations? I don't just want to see blockbusters. I'll see anything as long as it's good.

Recent movies are crap.  In my opinion.  Most are just remakes or copies of other movies.  Perhaps I'm just saying this because my movie selection is limited to comedy's and actions mainly.  Scary movies now-a-days are tired and predictable, or just plainly no scary.  And well, comedy action, and scary are the big three.  And comedy these days are basically stupid jokes, or people trying to be funny.  Action movies...there just aren't that many anymore.  So I say whip out your old Monty Python movies and watch some good entertainment.

Silent Hill is good, I liked it. Might I also recommend The Omen 666?

The Omen kinda sucked. SUPERMAN FTW.

Superman... Hm...

Well, since there are both naysayers, and supporters, I'll say this: The movie was decent. It was very dramatic. Things were very elaborated, and well... The entire movie was too epic!? On the other hand, the actor who plays Superman is perfectly pleasing to the eye (My only gripe with his actor was that he wasn't muscular enough. Otherwise, he has a very good face and whatnot.) The movie had a sort of... Comedic feel to it. Lexy is a bit more comical than menacing. Just watch and you'll see.

I'd say that if you're not a Die-hard fan of Supaman, then I'd say that you should watch it.

I really didn't like the new Pirates movie. Most of it was just entirely random crap that didn't seem to have anything to do with the story they were trying to tell. And it's a mean cliffhanger. Cliffhangers aren't cool.

Meh.

I liked Mission Impossible 3. Better than the second one at least.

If Silent Hill is still out, I'll go see it. About the Omen, I've seen the trailers and stuff here. Does it have another name in the US? I'm pretty sure it's just called "The Omen" (Even though it's a remake of the classic horror movie).

I might see Click. Maybe.

And about Superman...

I think Superman himself is boring. He's just too corny to me.

They actually made him seem less corny in this film. They put in a lot of wierd Jesus comparisons in the movie. Plus they made his superpowers like flying look great onscreen. (Especially when you see him fly in the home-camera parts. So Bluhman, I get what you mean about the too epic stuff.

Let me warn you know, if you did not see Pirates of the Carribean 1, you will love the sequel. If you DID see the first one, the second will kind of piss you off, or at least this is what happened to me.

EDIT=
Didn't notice you Saikar. I agree with you comepletely. It's honestly the biggest cliffhanger I've ever seen.

What I dont like of superman is that people try to make him some-kind-of-perfect idiot.
I would prefer something liek Spiderman,he gets good damages, scars and all.

I haven't seen pirates yet (seeing it on monday). But I heard that the dirrector encouraged the actor who played jack sparrow to make up random and funny crap, which is a pretty stupid thing to do. And about the cliffhanger, when they first made pirates they planned on making 3 movies of it, so yeah, it was mean to have a cliffhanger, but they meant to put whatever content they left out in the third movie I'm guessing.

Superman was pretty stupid. He's just too good. Spiderman and all the other super hero movies are kinda cool because the superheros aren't invincible. Superman, wtf, since his only weakness is kryponite, that has to be in every plot, and it gets very predictable and stupid. Its kinda like playing a game, but you use a gameshark and make your char invincible, sure it may be fun for a little while, but it gets old very fast. Plus I think that movie focused mainly on a relationship, and the actual evil plot was just a small add-on.

I don't have any recomendations right now.

The only 2 movies I know about and want to see is Spiderman 3 and Eragon. Spiderman doesn't come out for another year. I heard about Eragon 2 years ago or so, they were suposed to put a trailer on X-3, but that got pushed back to superman, and that got pushed off to something else. So I'm guessing that'll be a year and a half or two years before it comes out.

By the way, from the looks of it, the Spiderman movie doesent even have venom in it. It just has Symbiote Spidey. They coulda tried harder on the costume.

http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/spiderman3/site/noflash.php

That's the official site. I can't watch it cause dial-up is too slow. Can someone tell me what happens?

I'm pretty sure the suit, Venom, and the Sandman are in there.

Post by: oooog on July 09, 2006, 02:09:46 PM
Well, the person playing "Venom" is that dude from That 70's Show, Eric I believe.  That dude is really really skinny and Venom is really really opposite.  Thats why Eric left That 70's Show, he needed to bulk up for the movie.  I guess he couldn't bulk up enough in time.
Title: WTF?
Post by: aboutasoandthis on July 09, 2006, 03:54:45 PM
That skinny guy is playing Eddie Brock? That doesn't make any sense.

Now that I think about it, has anyone noticed that when they need someone with muscles for a superhero movie, they always pick a skinny guy? Like in Superman, he was 225 pounds. He looked ******* small though.

Dude wtf, I seriously dont think it has Venom, people >>. All it has is symbiote....Do you guys even know what symbiote is? I did see the glider, so maybe Hobgoblin. There's Sandman though. Saw him in the trailer.

http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/1830/blackenstein7rk.jpg

Some guy photoshopped the image of Symbiote spidey from the posters to make it look like the comic version. This is how it should've looked.

http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/images/spider-man.jpg
This is how it looks in the real movie >.>;. As you can see, theres a reflection in his eye. Lets get this through to you people. Its not Venom. Its Hobgoblin.

Post by: DragonBlaze on July 09, 2006, 05:22:08 PM
Well I know very little about the spiderman series, so I don't know exactly who venom is. But the black spiderman on the posters and the trailers is actually spiderman, but the dark side of him or something.

I figured it'd be Hobby. It seemed pretty obvious. I would love to see the Scorpion show up in a Spidey movie, though. Agreed, it looks like there won't be an inclusion of Venom. As for the new symbiote suit, I like it, even if it's not the same thing. It's all about creative liberties without making drastic changes, right? That's how a movie adaption of anything should be, right?

Reason they're not putting Venom in the movie?

I think I know what the symbiote is. Isn't it some black goo from outer space that Jameson's son accidentely brought back? I remember that. And isn't Venom Eddie Brock with the suit on but with more muscles and the mouth?

I don't read the comics at all. I might look at one if I see one. But why Hobgoblin?!? Venom would be a lot better. +I wanna see how Venom looks with realistic graphics.

That shouldn't be spiderman's new suit. I think it's just a tinted picture. Didn't the original have a big white spider on the front and was black from head to toe?

EDIT
BTW if you saw a glider, would it still be Hobgoblin or Harry in his dad's suit?

Mainvillian is Sandman. But I did see hobgoblin. And there isnt just one symbiote suit. Thats why there are like 5 symbiote villians. And its not a new suit. Its spiderman under the symbiote suit. "Tint". Pff. AND, their not using the original suit. Its just a black version of his normal suit in the movie. THATS why the suit looks black.

EDIT: Btw, Carnage pwns Venom in every way.

If the black Symbiote is in it, Eddie Brock is in it. After Spider-Man rejects his new costume, it finds Brock, who becomes Venom.
I hope Carnage makes an appearance. If not, he'll probably be in the next one.

Well, when it finds Brock, what choice would they have? Cause the spawn of suit goes with Kasady.(Kasady=Carnage for you noobs)

**** yes.

I saw the new Pirates movie today, and I can't really see what the problem you other guys have with it. It made sense to me, it had comedic moments that fit the situation, the plot flowed well enough, and the cliffhanger really wasn't that big. I loved the movie, mebe  even more than the first one...

You guys don't know a whole lot about the spidey comics do you?

Harry was not the Hobgoblin, he was the second green goblin in the comics, Hobgoblin was actualy a fashion designer in real life, yeah i know it's weird. However, they may just decide to make Harry into Hobgoblin for this movie. and the Symbiote is a new suit. It's living clothes, read the secret wars to understand.

Oh, and the main villain in this movie is Harry, the plot summary states that he hired Sandman to help him kill spidey.

More likely than not, Venom will be seen by the end of the movie. I think that most of the movie will be him turning evil from the suit (like in the comics) which would explain him and Gwen hooking up in this movie. And he'll probably beat the ever loving crap out of Sandman or Hobgoblin/Green Goblin. He'll prolly split with the suit in the church a little over 2/3 into the movie. He'll split in the church (like in the comics) and after that it'll bond to Eddie. I guarantee that by the end of the movie you'll see venom. Either him or Carnage will be the main villain next time. I just wish they would introduce black cat, she was a cool character.

As for movies you might want to see. If X3 is still out at your theatre, go see it, it's not the best, but worth seeing. In the next year or two they are making an Iron man and Capn America movie, so go see those. And I'm not sure when, but a new Batman movie is coming out in 2008 or so, Joker is the villain. It's the sequel to begins.

Anyway, it would seem comics turning into movies is the new theme these days.  Better than doing re-makes I suppose (I.E. Last years theme.)  Anyway, I still stand by my statement that if you want to see a good movie, you'll need to go back in time.  I still believe the Monty Python group and Mel Brookes movies are the best way to go, but this is coming from a comedy lover.  However, if you're looking to see one in theatres, you're going to have to look very hard, because the majority of the stuff playing now, or is upcoming isn't all that special.  I will however go see the new Spidey movie, and perhaps Click.  Other than that, I don't see anything worthwhile.  From what I hear, most movies out are "wait 'till you can rent" movies.

My opinion, not yours.

Oh God. Cause Wolverine totally needed a spinoff, cause you know the other three movies weren't totally about him.

"Oh no, Dark Pheonix is so powerful she makes Magneto look like a pussy, but I, Wolverine can single handedly stop her."

I know he's a very cool character and all, but for the love of jebus there are more characters than Wolverine in Xmen.

1.)  Nice use of Jebus.  Someone's been watching The Simpsons.

2.)  Wolverine IS all of the characters.  He's running really really fast constantly changing into alternate costumes that make him look completly different.  He also has alternate powers and stuff.  And just before one of the X-Men dies, he switches them with Steve from Long Island or something.

Lol, I saw pirates last night, and I thought it was a really good movie. There were some random parts, like it never explained what was going on in the intro, but the movie was already two and a half hours long, if they did explain all that, it'd be even longer. And I do think that this whole movie was basically setting up the stage for the next one, but I think they did a good job doing so.

And since the next movie comes out in less than a year, we won't have to wait THAT long for a conclusion.

And I thought the cliffhanger was sweet.
