Title: (Literally) Miniscule Request
Post by: Vlad Shadeu on August 04, 2009, 03:14:37 PM
I need 6 preferably original 8 by 8 (yes, pixels) images.
These are element markers for my little board game.
I need Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Dark, and Light.
They need to be as distinctive as the size limit can get them.
For air i was thinking some sort of vortex, earth would be a rock, fire is obvious, water would probably be a teardrop, i don't know what i want for dark and light.
Air should be greenish, earth should be brownish, fire should be reddish, water should be bluish, dark should be blackish, light should be whitish. I would like two versions, a pastelish one and a more vibrant one (and a black and white one, but i can do that myself)

I also need a preferably original 16x16 image that conveys the message "This pushes things"

NOTE: For Game Maker purposes, the bottom left corner of each image must be the transparent.

Why can't i do this?
Because even at 8x8, i can't create originals. I just edit. I'm that bad.

EDITED TWICE FOR SPECIFICITY. Sorry.

You dont realize that 8x8 is way too tiny.

I can do this if you let me do 16x16 icons for the air/earth/fire/water/dark/light thingies.

I mean, open an 8x8 file in MS Paint. You cant do **** in that small size. Not even kyoob is that small. =P

But the thing is, the card sprites are 64x64, 16x16 are worth it for powers (which are in the bottom left corner) but having something that big at the top left corner just makes everything look wierd. Try them in 16x16 and i'll see if it works.

Also, hey luke you think you wanna help out with the rest of this project? i'd be glad to have ya!

EDIT: also, i would like a "Normal" element. i dont know what its supposed to look like, if you can't do it thats okay.

The Pixel in the bottom left corner, Game Maker's Transparent.
Also, dont worry about the push thing, i think i got that covered.

You gonna take up my offer? I really need someone. I would prefer it be someone i already know, so your a good cantidate.

Can't. I'm on someone elses computer and will be for quite awhile. I was thinking of pulling together a project forum, but i'm not going to do that until a minimum of two spriters and a coder.

Eh, you can use the fire if you want, but I think I will be giving up on everything else.

If you still need this done, I could do this. They won't be as amazing as Lucas' though. O.K.? And still 16x16?

You should really give some thought to going bigger then 8x8.

The small versions.  There are two sets: pictures and orbs.  The bottom rows are the faded/pastel variants.

These are simply enlarged versions.

I agree, 8x8 is a bit too small.  I would probably be happy with 12x12 or 16x16.  Oh well...

 - The green vortex you wanted for air wound up looking like a poison ivy swastika or something.  I don't know what to do with them.  (Two versions)
 - Earth is... a rock.
 - Dark started out as a skull.  When that failed, I went for an orb with an odd design.  Finally decided a tombstone worked best.
 - Light is a beam of light, a lens flare or a comet.  Depends upon how you see it.

I think Vlad left after we all had a less then stellar attitude for this game.
