Purely for nostalgia's sake I decided to make a project with RPG Maker 2003. Fine and dandy. But then when I gave it to my brother he said he couldn't play it. It all slowly started coming back to me on why I switched over to RMXP...
What the [BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP] do you have to do to make your game stand-alone? I remember you have to "trick" RPG Maker 2K/3 into complying with computers that don't have it installed.
Using the "make gamedisk" isn't an option because we all know that's bugged as hell.
- I have all the resources in the proper folders.
- I've added the "FullPackageFlag=1" command.
What am I forgetting peeps? :|
-
What does the error message say? since It should work pretty dandy if you made gamedisc or such.
-
The gamedisk option works, but it packages ALL your resources into the game. Including all the RTP stuff you didn't use (including all the MP3s in my music folder). I don't want to give people a 300 megabyte game. XD
The error simply says that "RTP is not installed".
-
I experimented with a demo and if you unzip all the files into a new folder and just click on one of the RTP.exe with the face icon, it plays.
-
um, RTP files are really small. There are no MP3s in the RTP music as far as I know, just midis.
-
he prolly added them
-
Then taking the RTP away shouldn't really make the game any smaller if it is already 300mbs with mp3s.
Simple fix: add the rtp back in. Also, try to compress your mp3s.
-
Can u compress the mp3s not affecting their sound quality? I mean, I doubt anyone would notice much of a difference regardless but just humor me.
-
Yes, i've done it to several tunes in my previous games.
