Title: The original RTP
Post by: Meiscool on March 07, 2015, 01:35:44 AM
Not sure if this has been done before or not, but I figured it might kinda be fun.

Who was/is your favorite 2000/2003 RTP character? Who did you find yourself including in your game without thought? Who did you work the most with? Anyone you included in multiple RTP games?

Don't know the name of your RTP character? Describe him/her and hopefully we can help with that.
Know the name of someone I don't? Tell me!

Names I know are (Subject to being wrong):

Male Hero - Alex
Female Hero - Lilia/Alexis
Male Knight - Brian
Female Knight - Jeane/Jenna
Male Wizard - ?
Female Wizard - Carrol
Male Priest - ?
Female Priest - Daisy
Male Fighter - ?
Female Fighter - ?
Male Thief - Falcon
Female Thief - ?
Male Pirate - Gomez/Holmes
Female Pirate - ?
Male Hunter - Ellis/?
Female Hunter - Helen/Fiona
Male Samurai Armored - ?
Male Samurai Cloth - ?
Male Ninja - ?
Female Ninja - Miranda/Makuta
Bard - Arthur/Alice
Dancer - Marissa/Melissa
Chinese Male Fighter - Lee
Chinese Female Fighter - Mao/Maya
Male 2003 Hero1 - Zach
Male 2003 Hero2 - Albert
Male 2003 Hero3 - Burns
Male 2003 Hero4 - Klaus
Female 2003 Hero1 - Alissa/Arissa
Female 2003 Hero2 - Mia
Female 2003 Hero3 - Aileen/Chelsea
Female 2003 Hero4 - Cynthia

For me it was always Alissa. I love her design, her colors, her face set, etc. Always added her in my early rtp games. She was an early-game sword-mage for me, able to do pretty much everything well but not the best at it.

I always liked the male thief. The goggles were just great. Wasn't him in Don Miguel's game that came with the RPG Maker 2000 English translation? That was a wonderful game. ...well, I haven't touched it in over 10 years, but, y'know. From what I remember.

edit: ...only now realizing that when I played that game, I couldn't even speak English. That really was ages ago.

My first complete rtp game was called Wrath of Sinrad and the main characters were a pirate crew. Captain Shiela was the female pirate, Tsuna the engineer and (sort of) main character was the male thief and Farter was the male pirate. They recruited the female thief and she was sort of a bruiser.  THey later became the staple main characters for an entire trilogy!

My favourite rtp character might actually be the cloaked skeleton monster char though, which was a main character in a huge (and increasingly epic) 'shitty' game which me and a friend made. He had a theme tune which we used live instruments to create and all that jazz.  Klaus. Lead singer of Klaus and the magic numbers.

This is true for me as well and pretty much every other game I've seen made with RTP characters.
I also liked the engineer with goggles, but I changed his hair because it looked like he had an antenna or something.
What else, oh the male ninja because it was a ninja and ninjas are cool.
Also the female elf and the male warrior, because it was pretty clear what their roles would be.
And then Klaus the magicians because of hiss sassy bang and the sweet robe.

I'm not sure what his name was, but he has a black longcoat trimmed in gold and blue hair. I just though he looked cool, kind of reminded me of Setzer from Final Fantasy 6/3. I always loved his character, though Edgar is my favorite and probably my favorite of all the final fantasy game with maybe the exception of Cecil.

I always thought the pirate chick never got enough screen time. Other than that, I usually used the typical male and female characters, Alex, Zack, Burns, the female monk or Alissa.

Was the chinese fighter actually named Mao?

That's ironic cause just the other day I was thinking she doesn't get used much in any project I see or even as a descent NPC! =O I've always liked her whole gentleness. Her colors, her hair style all just sorta remind me of spring and flowers but also it seems like she has a very strong heart and is brave. Though as a mystic swordsman like Celes Chare from FF6? Good idea! But I never saw it. Strangely if she wasn't a mage I always felt she was a Archaeologist or something more interesting that just that cute girl. I did see her as a archer briefly but I dunno.

I always liked the male thief. The goggles were just great. Wasn't him in Don Miguel's game that came with the RPG Maker 2000 English translation? That was a wonderful game. ...well, I haven't touched it in over 10 years, but, y'know. From what I remember.

I loved his goggles but he just sorta looked unimpressive to me. That was sill Zuhane gave him the name Neil and I watched him come to life in the first chain game. XD I mostly saw him as a enemy or NPC before that.

My first complete rtp game was called Wrath of Sinrad and the main characters were a pirate crew. Captain Shiela was the female pirate, Tsuna the engineer and (sort of) main character was the male thief and Farter was the male pirate. XD I always wanted to make a series based on the RTP characters adventures. Nothing too serious just something light hearted and comedy ridden with a sprinkling of heavy action scenes. Like One Piece or Naruto in the early days.

He was technically Death I think. Like how Death just sorta walks around in the Discworld or he was a high level undead with Float always on. XD

This is true for me as well and pretty much every other game I've seen made with RTP characters.
I also liked the engineer with goggles, but I changed his hair because it looked like he had an antenna or something.

And then Klaus the magicians because of hiss sassy bang and the sweet robe.

I liked Klaus but more as a villain than a hero or a Riku/Kain type character. You know the noble, strange looking guy who eventually will betray you for some reason in the second act but starts out as liek your best friend. Though I once had a hillarious time casting him like Black Mage from 8-bit Theater where he's oh so obviously evil and gonna betray everyone but nobody really seems to notice/believe it till it happens.

That's Klaus. Ah Setzer. I always liked him better than Cid as Airship Captain but with FF6 I couldn't tell you my favorite character. I do have to admit Edgar is the most original playable FF party member. A King who's also a inventor! You just gotta love that.

As for my favorite I'd have to say Zack. I dunno I just love his goofy-yet-heroic look and that fact his clothes were modern enough for a sci-fi but still workable as a fantasy hero. Same for Burns' crazy looking outfit and gotta love that Saiben-like hair! XD Maybe Albert...His coat always seemed out of place to me unless he was a Steampunkian sort of hero or a time traveler, but I did like his Sephiroth-length hair on a main hero. As for Heroine as I said before Alissa because of that gentle but tough look. Hmm Cynthia I liked long before I met her as the tantalizing female romance Yva in the chain game 1 bcause of her resemblance to FF8's Quastis whom I kinda always thought was hot and yet bright.  Especially Marissa cause she reminds me of the dancing girl from FF1 who always gave you good info when you were lost till you got to the last part of the game...and the boobage XD And also Alexa cause I borrowed her design for a RP character in Feudal Fantasy RP and fell in love with the design. I also liked her very ninja-like outfit and long blue hair.

As for villains? Klaus, the male pirate and Alex cause he seemed the most trustable and thus, to me anyway, would be my perfect choice to play the unlikely Brutus to stab you in the back. As for monsters? The pig orc cause he makes a excellent henchman/army character and I secretly would have liked to have seen a playble version of him. The harpy cause, again, boobage but also cause she's a FREAKIN HARPY! =O Previous to that the last Harpies I'd seen in a RPG were those evil ones from Breath of Fire and the dark elf. He just always seemed like either the imcoptitant bad guy or that smooth talking sort of badaz.

As for NPCs? The blue haired boy seemed like he had hero potential or at least would be a fanboy-type The pink haired merchant girl. Just loved her shawl/wrap and her subdue'd colors. The bunny girl cause, yet again, buttage. Wait not boobage? Well yes but her bum was so cute and stood out nicely when she walked XD Plus I had a favorite character in DQ3 who was a bunny girl. The blue/purple haired maid always intriguied me and the queen cause she's not what you'd expect. The Vizier/adviser always seemed to have descent villain material to me and I loved his silly body shape XD And the fairy cause she's so helpful to you in nearly every chapter of Chain Game 1: Lost and Found and her tiny, itty bity body type is just so cute! ^-^

Albert cause of the hair. Same thing with Mia. Alissa is cool too, but she's so a summoner and Yuna type.. I like Cynthia since she's so exotic looking but deciding a weapon and battle style for her was hard. The female pirate cause she has hot pants~~❤

Monsters/villains: The big red and black knight. He's so big and strong and evil looking! :O The sheet type ghost because he's like Bakamon and I like cute and creepy things. The zombie cause he's in a sports coat lol

NPCs: The Angel woman with the red hair, the casino owner cause he's so Elvis-like. The little boy from the first set cause he's got old school eyes and looks like a punk lol Hmm the dog cause he's loyal and brave looking the cat and the cow cause cows are cool 🐄
