Title: Music for a 3D space combat strategy game?
Post by: DragonBlaze on November 10, 2011, 06:59:11 PM
So I'm working on a game with a group of 3 other people. The game will be made with webGL meaning it will be programmed directly into a web browser like FireFox or Chrome (Internet Explorer does not yet support webGL), and all of the graphics will be 3D. The basic premise of the game is you start off by controlling a few planets. You have to upgrade your planets and build structures on them in order to produce starships, which can be used to take over other planets or fight against enemy starships. You will also have to mine resources from inhabitable planets in order to build structures or ships. The game will be turned based sort of like civilizations, but the game will progress much quicker than civilizations. In the final version, we may even add support for multiple players to play against each other online. I'll make a topic about this in the games section in a week or two once we have more graphics done.

Anyway, the issue is that since we will distribute this game, we have to use all original resources. My team and I can make the graphics and do all the programming no problem, but we have no musical talent :( If anyone thinks they can make a good futuristic space theme, please let me know. We will be done with this project in a month (at least the beta version), so any music will have to be done by then.

Our only other option is to try to ask for a commission elsewhere or try to make some music ourselves. I am pretty confident that if we try to make it ourselves, it will sound like a 5 year old pounding on pots and pans, and as for asking around for commissions elsewhere, I have no idea where to even start.

Anyway, if anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Brad Sucks has some pretty neat stuff, so long as you just use instrumentals. He pretty much lets anyone use his music.
