Title: Tales of Misaba stuff.
Post by: Yuffit on January 12, 2012, 10:59:38 PM
By request, ive decided to post a tiny little bit of some stuffs in mah upcoming game, Tales of Misaba
*note, this game is only like... 5% done. once ive gotten the PREPARATION process done, i have to make the entire game, which is currently 43 pages of a composition notebook (front and back, and so far from detailed it's not even funneh.)
So, here is the cast of ToM
(http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa404/Yuffit/Spoilers%20to%20teh%20tales%20of%20misaba%20fooh/ToMCast.png)

Here is my cheap battle system (Battle sprites will be probably the final finishing touch i work on.)
Yes, Elsa's face is from Touhou project. Props to Xenomic for making them.

Here is my equally cheap little menu (note, half of this stuff will be super different, im just getting the concept down XD
(http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa404/Yuffit/Spoilers%20to%20teh%20tales%20of%20misaba%20fooh/Loljews.png)
(sucks rio's face isnt like the others.. maybe someone can make a nice anime-ish face for him :D)

Here is some accessories, and a little spoiler to the entire Trials of Kasikun (the belts are an optional, yet fruitful part of a massive side quest.)

And this is just a picture of some armor.. and shields.. notice im using tier'd equipment, it supports the smithing system very well.. but ill probably add a lot more enchanted stuff.. i look at it now and say.. "ONLY THREE MAGICAL RARE ONE-TIME FIND SHIELDS? 'TF?"

So thats just a little i wanted to throw out there..
ciao.

Well, its interesting on all the work you are doing in the database before any mapping and such.  That's probably a cool way to go about it.  Facesets aren't charas's specialty, so you may need to look on other forums for help with that.  (Probably the least commonly filled request here).

Some things that are normally added are the current systems you are working on and other little updates about it.  A small summary of the plot and the names of characters (if only the first one or two) are normal as well.  Good luck!

Pish, **** the plot and characters. Information about gameplay is where it's at.

XD dont worry its temporary.
and i always COMPLETELY finish the database before i even start doing anything else :3
and i liek having teh storyline. gotta have an excuse for the badass, who is the only person in the entire game with red hair, to go out and kill a constant downpour of mystical and epic monsters, antiheroes, and other nonconformists?
:D
As for what im currently working on? I cleaned out the database, and have everything laid out, and ORGANIZED (for once :D) so i can just fill out the info.
I now know exactly how (and remember it all somehow) to make an entire party swap system, smithing/alchemy systems, a pre-game class selection systems, the Jump command, blue magic, and i am currently seeing if i can make a little ability called "Release" for the samurai class specifically.. supposed to gain more power for each battle you win, up to like.. 500% damage or so... cool stuff.
i might do a character summary sometime.. it is something i rarely do so it would be kinda cool to have a backstory to the game or else people come into the game and meet Vince and are like "What the hell is this douche's story?"

Hmm... maybe that is why the only things even slightly developed is the database. and that notebook. enough planning for you?

I was basically agreeing with you. I could have also said, "Hey, keep up the good work. All this planning and organization will pay off." The two statements are pretty much synonymous.

oh apologies. the tone kinda seemed like "you sir arent planning enough, and it will be an unfinished project."
my mistake ;D

So right now? Im practicing making map events. Not much to say, i just randomly decided to make a dumb little character, which i now can use to change my classes, sleep, shop, change the weather (lol dont even ask why), and get my daily dose of being cussed out by a laptop!

So here is the CURRENT shop system.. i am considering doing an ABS/Menu system/everything else, once the actual game starts being produced, not just the database, im not sure.

(P.S - I am still fighting with myself to decide what i will call the currency, maybe not something as offensive/exaggerated as "Jews" or "Whores", but certianly not "G, Gold, Coins, Gil, etc..")

I thought this picture was a tad funny.. but that's just me XD
(http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa404/Yuffit/Spoilers%20to%20teh%20tales%20of%20misaba%20fooh/Ayehestheboss.png)

And, just to put a third picture, and to announce my official ascension into "The high ruling group of exclusives who know how to put battle animations on a map" :)

Idk if you peeps even want pictures of my database, if you do, feel free to ask to see what a certain area may look like ;P

So, ciao everyone. Im not good at like.. presenting stuff.. so if you are a great person inside and want to know the backstory or whatever, please ask :)

Something you can do in that message is use some message box codes like \^ \. and \|. (I think those are them... check the RPG Maker help file for more information about message box codes)

Yeah i noticed that alot of finished games use the special icons and message stuff that makes everything look all professional and whatnot.. ill consider putting such things into effect.

The codes I mentioned add pauses and stuff to the messages.

Well! it's official, i am making my own cms! I have learned the basics and can make a functioning base menu, and the key presses have a nice little sound effect when the cursor moves :3... i shall be learning about and working on the process of sub-menus for awhile nao.

Well keep up the good work, also make the currency Beetle, everyone wants to shop with beetles.

will do ;D

Yes, Elsa's face is from Touhou project. Props to Xenomic for making them.
Whose character face is that? I can't tell if it's Sakuya's because it's so small and pixellated.

Also please get your sprites right.

I forgot to comment on it.. but is your currency in... Jews?

Yes it's Sakuya. and im not doing battle sprites until much later. AND, there is already a Touhou Project on rm2k3... so dont expect to see a lass resembling sakyua in any way except for hair color :3

Oh.. and somebody "Coughpurpl_magecough" could you link me to some sort of guide as to how i could make a nicer cms? I dont understand how some of them will have numbers and stats placed in areas where a message box is impossible... so i don't really get how that could work, having all those numbers there.. (i pray there isnt a common event/picture for every single number combination.. death seems much easier)

I commented in your other topic about it.  But you don't have to worry about every single combination.

Yeah I think that AFL is the guy when it comes to CMS and such, I tend to get awfully bored with those.

i can always find great help here :)

Since i don't think everybody would appreciate it if i made a thread for every single question i have, ill just post my little problem here.

I made a different cms, and it seems that the cancel button isnt working. i have the key input processing set for cancel, enter, and down/up keys, and everything works out perfect, except whenever i hit the cancel key, it removes the pictures for a fraction of a second and then brings it back up, the menu still functioning as usual.

The piece of code looks like this:

Branch if Var [0003:Keystroke] is 6
Erase Picture: 1
Erase Picture: 2
Move Event: Hero, Wait
Variable Oper: [0003:Keystroke] Set, 0
End Event Processing
<>
: End
<>

I know it's probably a really stupid obvious problem, probably a mix-up in the order, but im stumped.

Question, have you made it so that a switch is on while the menu shows? It's a neat way to rule out some issues. You press the menu buttom, the menu shows, but only when the switch is on. When you press the cancel button the switch is turned of ergo the menu doesn't show.
Btw, is the menu opened by pressing the cancel button as well? in that case you should be able to stop this by adding a wait command of 0,5 or something at the end.

thanks!
i put a 0.1 wait right after the branch, and it works fine now :)
