My brother's crazy.  He's insulting all the Nintendo systems!  Please help me sway his decision!

Stupid poll, there is no best system.

If I had to decide I'd say PS because of FFT and Vagrant Story.

Hard to understand what you mean. Do you want us to judge real console power or the queality of the GAMES that were on it? Because my choice differs between the two.
Title:
Post by: Dominant on December 13, 2004, 12:25:26 AM
I meant quality of the games.

N64 has brought me endless hours of hapiness and entertainment.  Ocarina of Time (I played this for far more than 1000 hours total, I assure you.), Majora's Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64... I bet I'm forgetting tons.  N64 is by far the greatest.  But don't get me wrong.  Gamecube and X-Box are great systems!  They're just nothing compared to N64, and actually, SNES is better than Gamecube and X-Box.  I'm still playing my DKC2 on SNES.  That was the greatest Donkey Kong game ever.  I've beaten it many times before, but I'm goin' through it again!  It never gets old!  But still, Ocarina of Time was my favorite game EVER so far.  I hope Zelda 2005 can bring me as much enjoyment as OoT did.

great minds think alike.

the only reason why i like PS is because of Suikoden and FFT..

i also like DC because of Power Stone and Sonic Adventure (rasing Chaos.. i'm gonna be a great daddy.. lol)

GB/GBA for Pokemon.. period..

SNES for slam dunk 2 and sonic wings..

everything else sucked cuz i only played them cuz i had nothing else better to play.. lol..

Well they brought out FF6 now for PS1 AND FF7 came out on PS1 and they're my favourite games so PS1 people. Having said that, You get tired of RPGs sometimes and I thought Mechcommander for PC was truly a great game, so I dunno...
Title:
Post by: Glitch on December 13, 2004, 10:10:45 PM
I would have to say Super nintendo because it has more quality games overall than any other system when you think about it,
CT, FF6, FF5, DKC, DKC2, Super Metroid, Link to the past, Rockman and Forte (famicon technically) etc....

When you think about it, most systems just have a few huge games, but not enough great quality games,

Post by: Osmose on December 13, 2004, 10:11:28 PM
NES didn't start it all, not by a long shot. If you researched what happened before your generation, you'd see the Atari, Colecovision, lots of home consoles that were widely popular. Nintendo made some good systems, but it wasn't the beginning, not by a long shot. And, frankly, their hardware was crap against Sega.

Their hardware was crap against Sega until Dreamcast :/

NES Best Games Evar (3): Startropics, Duck Hunt, Super Mario 3
N64 Best Games Evar (5): Banjo Kazooie, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros.
PS1 Best Games Evar (4): Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, Jade Cocoon, Monster Rancher 2
PS2 Best Games Evar (4): Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy 11, Ghost Recon, Wild Arms 3
NGC Best Games Evar (1): Animal Crossing

SNES Had the best gmae ever for the Nintendo company afterwards they kinda went gay with most of their games.

I'm a playstation man. Me and Playstation go way back. From the day it was born here in america. I'm a RPG man too. But I also like fighting games... So I would go with  Playstation. It has 3 of the best games

Valkyrie Profile
Tales of Destiny 2
Xenogears

As for nintendo, super . They only have 3 games I would play over and over

Crono Trigger (duh)

Earthbound (lol this games owns, It was the first game to break the rules of Traditional RPGs)

and

Secret of Mana( duh again)

As for nintendo 64. The only games I cared to play were

Evangelion

Golden Eye (duh)

I won most o f the rest of the game sustems on this list but....yeah.

P.S.

DREAMCAST OWNS!!!
No matter what you people say.

Yes, but aside from saturn, the ps1 really revolutionized disc gaming, and many of my favorite titles:

legend of the dragoon
FF7
chrono cross
FF9

are on the ps1

pc shouldn't count in this poll except for its own games, because even though there are emulators, the game was actually created for the system it was made on

Nintendo in general rules, forget systems. Atari XE is actually my favorite system. But still, the greatest game for PS1 is Worms: Armegeddon.

Well I used to have an Atari and alot of its games. But my personal opinion is that NES had the first great games of all time.
Yes, Atari and those others had good games but they were all games you can play in the arcade now and the are "classics".
But Atari had Pong-Asteroids-Jungle leap-Tetris and all of those other "old skool" games. NES came along with Ninja Gaiden-The Mario Series-Ninja Turtles-Batman-Pinball-Home Alone 1&2-Final Fantasy- Final Fantasy 1-6- Final Fantasy Mystical Quest-Plus all of the "old skool" games on Atari. So in my conclusion, NES really Blasted good home gaming off.

I didn't know what answer to put down, until that swayed me.

I'd reeeally like a port of SFX64 to GCN. I couldn't put that game down! My high score is 1524. And OOT was roxor!

I think I speak for the majority when I say you cannot choose a best console, all consoles have their advantages and disadvantages, it's impossible to decide between SNES and Mega Drive (Genesis) let alone most consoles out there!
You can't expect people to just say, 'This console was the best because ...' it just doesn't happen!  To select a best console is impossible!

hmmm tough choice with out pc up there, i choose gamecube, just as i did when i had the choice between gc ps2 and x-box. even though i bought a ps2 recently, i just think that gamecube has familiarity in its games, as well as great graphics (most games excluding animal crossing) great playability (animal crossing) tons of reply value (supersmash bro's) awsome music (PAPER MARIO 2!!!!) the rpg's that are orriginal on it, are usually very high quallity (Tos and PM2) they dont try to charge you $20 bucks for a frigen memory card... (PS2 does though...) 4 player! the best non online multiplayer games out there!!!

x-box- meh.... dont like any of the games....

Ps2- i have one, great thing, to bad i bought it the day before the new skinny modle came out... great rpgs, thats about it though..

i couldnt choose between the DS and the GC...
Title: PSP vs DS
Post by: Majin Sam on December 23, 2004, 02:47:19 PM
I don't think either can win.  They're aimed at different markets!  The PSP is flahier and has a higher price tag and as such is a portable all-in-one entertinment system.
Meanwhile the more affordable DS focuses on games and innovation in games.  That's why it has a pen and two screens!  It's trying to do something new while the PSP sticks to it's guns so they won't have to clash!

Well, besides the PC, which is the ulitmate form of gaming, for me its a toss up between the PS2, XBOX and the SNES.

I think that XBOX is the superior machine to the others, but I don't have a DVD remote. :(
PS2 comes second in the race of superior-ism, but it comes DVD playing ready.
The SNES was simply awesome and has stood the test of time. I'm still very much entertained by playing Super Punch Out and the Donkey Kong series.

At the end of all that, I suppose I'd have to choose the XBOX, although nothing beats a maxxed out PC for high quality gaming.  :bend:

Don't tell people what to do, you Nintendo fanboy, you.  :badboy:

But seriously, I'd probably reccommend the DS. ;)

The battery time is a pretty big problem for Sony. No doubt they will bring out an expensive accessory to enhance the battery power.

When I first read about the DS, it sounded gimicky, but now it seems that it may very well be the superior little machine besides the graphics. But hey, if you really cared about cutting edge graphics, you'd go out and upgrade your computer every week, right?

Don't tell me what to do, Captain Hueston J Xbox, Luitenant 100 Playstation games, Admiral Crunch.

Besides, if I was a fanboy, I'd have posters everywhere, about everygame that existed and Nintendo tattooed to my forehead. I support Playstation too, but from what I've heard, the PSP will lose horribly.

Aww fibilous debates about best systems...I have an answer to that Q.

What is the best System. Well lets get to my famous and well known trait/hobby...I am by far a huge gamer critic...

Lets start with the Basics...The best system is in opinion to everyone, everyone has their own ideas and likes/dislikes. Thus the best system is all systems...

Well lets try Best system not by people, how about through the eyes of game designers.

Want to know true game systems, know your system...

All systems are different, for example N64, its graphics can never hold a game like Final fantasy 10.N64, which I have played, seems to only hold games with 3d colorized graphics, not 3d computerized graphics like ff10 or Resident evil games.

X-Box and PS2 are the opposite, they hold more CGAs and computerizes graphics with enhanced 3d coloring to give it a more 3d real time look.

So I base great systems on Great designers...If the best designers of video games like Square Enix Capcom and Konami all switched to X-box rather than PS2..I would say my fave system is X-box.

Now in companies eyes, I think they are thinking in systems for their games. I dont think Squaresoft back then said lets make our game FF10 for N64...How could that work?

Companies always say if I make a killer game which system can hold it and which system can not.

So I came to the conclusion all systems are good, but shouldnt we debate best games not systems, if all your fave games were on your least fave system, I bet you change your mind.

Heck if FF games went to Gamecube, I would no longer say PS2 is my fave system.

Now who disagress with that? :flower:

Arg, o_O

I'm confused, and I know exactly what you're talking about.  :D

Dreamcast didn't really get a free run at anything.
Its a shame, I played one when they were released and thought it was great (Sonic Adventure). The only place I've seen one since then, was in 'Cash Converters'.
