Ya~
It's weird that they are re-making DS for the 3DS but making a sequel, DS2, for the DS.
AT ANY RATE THESE WERE THE BEST NEWS IVE HAD ALL WEEK.
-
I was gonna get the first one, but wasn't sure if it'd beat Disgaea in terms of complexity and
replayability!

It does.
Okay, so you won't spend 80+ hours leveling up to beat bosses.
But there are much more dialogue trees to follow, and I believe more endings.

The one real pain in Disgaea. I don't mind a little grinding, but that was the game that required 90% of your play time being spent grinding.
-
Disgaea offers SO MUCH variability in characters though. Item world, Dark Assembly, Transmigration, etc.
I'll give Devil Survivor a go... for your sake! :P
-
When I first got Devil Survivor I played it until about 4:00 every night ...THAT IS HOW GOOD THIS GAME IS.
-
Can't say I've ever played Devil Survivor. What's the game like?

Persona 3 meets Final Fantasy Tactics.
-
Can't say I ever played Persona. What's the game like?
-
Can't say I ever owned a PlayStation. What's that like?

Can't say I've ever owned a friend. What's that like?

That sounds really dirty.
I am somewhat familiar with the Persona series, though. So is it like "spend time with your friends to get better Personas" Persona, or "grind up and fuse Personas" Persona?
-
Just got the first. When I named my character they didn't warn me that the game was set in Tokyo and everyone else has Japanese names, so now my group is Yuzu Tanikawa, Atsurou Kihara, and......Ayden Cross.
Can't stand Yuzu. Why, after battling hordes of demons, is she still saying "This has to be a joke"??
-
The name Ayden Cross actually fits in quite well in an anime-esque atmostphere. Watch enough anime, and Cross actually starts sounding like a common Japanese surname. >.>

It's more persona's atmosphere with FFT's gameplay.
Only not really because FFT's gameplay wasn't reallt like this one. It's more like Fire Emblem. With demons and fusioning in tokyo.

I named the main character after myself and just pretended this was an alternate dimension me who is japanese. And not fat.
-
I just named him Jo.
But I think Yuzu is still in denial that it's happening simply because she's in denial. Take a disaster and there will always be one or two people trying to pretend it's not real- when your world inexplicably falls apart sometimes you need to rationalize it to protect yourself.

And the opening cutscene sort of implied that there was some Christian element to all of this so "Cross" sounded meaningful.

Even still, I dislike her enough to want to sabotage any effort the game makes into hooking the two of "us" up.

Do that, her ending is one of the bad ones.
-
Do the characters get any more interesting? I'm really digging the plot and the battles but not so much the core cast.
-
It depends on how you play the game. You either get a cast of **** characters, or you get really good ones.
-
Well, I didn't mean the demons so much as Stoic Hero, Yoohoo, and Otaku Boy.

I'm afraid not.
-
You can actually lose everyone but the stoic hero and replace them with other characters.
-
So Beldr sort of whomped me. I can take him, just not his hordes of healing and petrifying backup. Guess I'll just grind a little and fuse some better demons.
I'm having a grand old time busting Yoohoo's chops. So far I've managed to try to sell her off to a male prostitute and have succeeded in ignoring all of her e-mails, prompting her to send more "Y U NO REPLY TO ME?" ones that also go unanswered.
So far the worst Yoohoo moment was when she whined "Who is going to protect me?!!" whilst having an arsenal of demons at her disposal. Yoohoo, if you're in trouble, I'm sure we all are.
