Im buying a YOBO FC Twin to play some of the old games from my earlier childhood.
But sadly, I don't remeber any of them. Any SNES or NES Suggestions?
-
I suppose you mean FF6 then?
Both are long and great games what I can remember.
-
I remember gettin' hella into yoshi's island, for sure.
edit- oh snap- totaly didn't see the poll up top *leaves*
-
Chrono. It's story isn't as good as FF6, but it's a somewhat unique classic.

Chrono. It's story isn't as good as FF6, but it's a somewhat unique classic.
Replay value and many endings as well.
Beating the last boss just before the game actually starts is pretty cool.
-
I've never liked final fantasy before but I think its worth a try.
Wish me luck, cause' I probably wont be able to complete the game.
-
Just get both
Come on, there SNES games
Means easy to "acquire"
-
Shin Megami Tensei. Do it, or you are a giant faggot.

Not exactly. I went through a bit of trouble getting a mint condition FF3/6

He's talking about emulation bro.
-
Then why ask? GET THEM ALL
-
Then why ask? GET THEM ALL
Well, Fruck is talking about emulation. No idea what the OP is on about, and i don't care to find out.
-
FFIII was easy to get.
...12 years ago when it came out...
(I don't remember exactly when, but that's when I bought mine.)
-
Own a copy of FF6 here. Though, it's the PSX version.
-
It feels better when you have the actual game, not a Rom...
-
We can't even get SNES games over here. So I don't feel bad for downloading them.
I'm just taking part of a heritage that's better than most "user friendly" and "amazing 3d graphics" games we have today.
-
I have Secret Of Mana, FF3 (6), and Chrono Trigger, and A Link To The Past catridges got them when I was like 6 still great condition.
I suggest those how can you go wrong?
-
Super Metroid, kirby superstar, super mario rpg, ultimate mortal kombat 3, clocktower(shrugs), earthbound, Lufia and Star Fox.
They are the games I simply love on the SNES.
-
kirby superstar was my favorite.
no games like that nowadays...
-
Shin Megami Tensei. Do it, or you are a giant faggot.
...Amazing. Someone here is actually familiar with this game. Yeah, it's brilliant. I would also suggest Earthbound, Terranigma and Shiren the Wanderer.
-
The only thing i recognized was earthbound, i dunno wtf terranigma is...
-
The only thing i recognized was earthbound, i dunno wtf terranigma is...
Oh i forgot i have that one to Terranigma is great sort of I don't rmeber it but the graphics were ok.
-
Final Fantasy is pretty the same as the other FFs, so I would recommend Chrono Trigger if you want something refreshing.
-
Any of the Donkey Kong Country games are good. Shouldn't be too hard to find either. Although DKC2 is probably the most enjoyable one IMO.
But to those who're talking about roms, Treasure of the Rudras & Seiken Densetsu 3 are two really good games. You can't even get Rudra in English except through the fan-translated rom.
-
Seiken Densetsu 3
Yup
-
I second Shin Megami Tensei
-
Super Mario RPG
E.V.O Search For Eden
Hyperzone; Fun shoot em up (Think SNES Version of Space Harrier)
Breath of Fire 1 and 2
Earthbound
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
Lufia 1 and 2
Sparkster
-
E.V.O Search For Eden
I have a love-hate relationship with this game
-
Super Mario RPG
Yes. Also, it is now possible to hack the game and add custom stuff sorta. I've been playing with the script. The game isn't very hard. I won it about three times before actually using cheating. And when I used cheats it was to see the unused stuff. I've hacked it a little. Even added custom boss dialogue.
E.V.O Search For Eden
Fun little platformer/RPG. Kinda hard, and gets kinda frustrating. Replay value is mild though.
Breath of Fire 1 and 2
Great games, I suggest them! XD
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
One game I remember being so happy that my dad got for me. I love this game, it's kinda simple but fun. I sometimes pseudo swordfight with the guards just for the heck of it. It's also neat the way you can peck a wall with your sword and they will rush towards you.
Sparkster
Jet pack wielding opossum knight you say? YES!
-
It feels better when you have the actual game, not a Rom...
By this point in time buying the cartridge earns the company no money, only some douche on ebay. And anyway, square don't deserve money any more.
-
Own a copy of FF6 here. Though, it's the PSX version.
PSX version isn't really FFXI. You have to actually own the game for it to feel right.I plan on buying all the FF's eventually.

mmhm.

Someone sounds a wee bit rusty on his Roman numerals.
-
Yup

I plan on buying all the FF's eventually.
Please don't give square money. If you buy them, get them second hand so that square doesnt get money. Square are a company that will keep churning out **** if you keep giving them cash.

Ebay is our friend, square ain't gettin' ****.
-
Square is good, the FF's are awesome. And FF XIII is definately getting the extra money for the limited edition from me, it looks freaking awesome.

I've seen the Japaneese demo played and it just looks awesome as hell. I dont know planet your from but the FF series is the greatest gaming franchise known to mankind.

I think that when FF 9 came it just got shitty... FF 7 ftw!

Die you non-respectful youngling. FFIX is the incarnation of the FF soul.
FF7 if anything is the bane of square.
FFIX is the most awesome FF game released on PS, second is tactics.
Square went downhill with FFXI and FFXII. No argue, silence.

Wow. Just wow. You saw that shite and thought it looked good? What is wrong with people?

The same thing that makes people buy Halo Wars.

Actually, it is. In Europe, we kept the normal names. So Final Fantasy II here, is just Final Fantasy II. Final Fantasy VI is... bingo, part VI.
Check this url to Wikipedia. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_6) This is the exact game I got. So far, the only known differences to me is the adding of Full Motion Videos. If you check the release date, you can see it has been released on the PSX quite late, but released nonetheless. As far as I know, part V has the been released too. And I remember seeing IV somewhere for the PSX.
-
Yeah I know its the same game I have that too, but its still not the same as owning the original SNES game.
Wow. Just wow. You saw that shite and thought it looked good? What is wrong with people?
I thought it looked awesome.
The same thing that makes people buy Halo Wars.
I really like Halo wars, I didn't love halo wars and was it by no means one of my favorite games but it was a good game and the most compatible RTS made for console to-date.
-
You should get Bebe's Kids, you will have LOTS of fun with that game.
-

DON'T DO IT.
IT'S A TRAP.

Oh dear God not this again.
Can we all agree to disagree?

INDEED, Prpl. FF9 is an amalgam of all that is classic Final Fantasy. FF9 is what Square made to preserve the goodness in their games before the, well, X generation I should say. The crap that came with the games including the Roman numeral X. Like XIII.

You are propoably my favourite member who wasn't here before me.
-
Yeah I know its the same game I have that too, but its still not the same as owning the original SNES game.
It is if it's the same game dude. Come on. It's like saying "It's not the same cause you don't own Mirror's Edge on the 360 but only on the PS3. It is the same game. The only difference is the console, which honestly doesn't count.
-
The one good thing about FF13 is that I don't have to feel guilty that I'm attracted to the main character.
-
Yeah I know its the same game I have that too, but its still not the same as owning the original SNES game.
Why, because the loading time on the PSX version is a little longer than the SNES one? *rolls eyes*
-

No because theres just something about owning an original copy. Just like the difference between and emulator/console game.
-
No because theres just something about owning an original copy. Just like the difference between and emulator/console game.
....you are a very strange person. The difference with emulators is that you are playing the game without paying for it. There is nothing like that with different console versions.
-
FF3 I'd say is more time consuming by itself, If you get CT DS, then prepare for a good 60 hours to get every ending.
I have FF3 for the Snes, and beat it. but somewhere in the dinosuar forest, the game glitched and gave me 225 Of every item I had in my invetory, Including Magic-x, Utma sword, and this weird item that set MP cost to 1.
-

I PAID for my ORIGINAL copy.

I actually bought mine from Ebay, but the way I see it anyone who paid for 3/6 help in the making of 7, so I solute them.
-
This:
I PAID for my ORIGINAL copy.
You misinterprit me. He was saying it was like playing an emulator, I was saying it's no different to playing it on the SNES, you're just using a different controller and suffering from godawful loadtimes.
-
I've seen the Japaneese demo played and it just looks awesome as hell. I dont know planet your from but the FF series is the greatest gaming franchise known to mankind.
I would hardly say they're the greatest... let alone even in the top 5. Because of the Final Fantasy series, I can't play standard RPGS anylonger.
And FF7 had a terrible story, horrid graphics (EVEN FOR THE TIME!) and the worst battle system of them all. How is it the best?
Sorry, but Mario World was a better game.
Anyways,
Snes is the best system. I'd go with Chrono Trigger. But I'm biased. Although, to be honest, FF3/6 is the best game Square ever put out with the words final fantasy in front of it. (By the way - Square/Enix games that are better than ANY FF - Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest 8, Sword of Mana)
-

Let's face it, Super Mario World is immortal.
And as for Rahl, greatest? :\ Oh dear lord, you'd have to live within a really boxed world to think FF is the greatest RPG series. I feel that Final Fantasy is one of the most overly-loved mainstream series out there. People practically make it a religion and make it out to be some flawless perfection. I say, get out of the box and play other games.
I've become quite hooked on Megaten myself. And I like Mana Khemia and Atelier Iris, and I know you'll say "Mana what, Atelier who?" but this would only prove my point, your playing within a confined area, it actually reflects on creative thought as well. What you play and how much of variety you play will reflect on how much creativity you can make. Since your limiting your gaming experience and choices of material then you will also cripple your creative ability, since it too will be handled in such a manner, within confined environments.
So my advice to you Rahl, is to play different RPGs than Final Fantasy, it isn't the greatest, it's just the most mainstream. You SERIOUSLY need to get your head out of mainstream. It's all fine and dandy but often subject to bloat and limitations. Also, when you get down to it, because of Final Fantasy, you don't hear much about their other game titles like their Mana series which I admit that I liked quite a bit. They were very fun games. As also said, Breath of Fire by Capcom was a great series, up until... uhm... Dragon Quarter... which killed the series. :\
-
For sure df, SMW is still on my favorite list, even though I havn't played a SNES in stupid long.
Arcanum; of steamworks and magickal obscura <- my favorite RPG, for sure, hands down. I've played that **** soo many times over the last 7 years, and im still finding new stuff in that game.
-
Well, i guess i'm getting chrono trigger.
-
LOL, the ads for this page is geek dating.
One good thing is that you can back up ROMs on the computer. Not so with cartridges.
-
And if something happens to the cartridge, then you always have the cart image backed up.
-
No I just can't explain it any better than its just better to have the original game for the original system it came out on. Its kind of like having a signed tshirt that was only signed on the first one then mass produced by machines. I'd rather have the original but then again Im a game collector.
-
then mass produced by machines.
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...isn't that what a commercial game is?
-
Its kind of like having a signed tshirt that was only signed on the first one then mass produced by machines. I'd rather have the original but then again Im a game collector.
If you have any of the original cartridges of any of the games mentioned here - I'd find out where you live and steal them. Truest honest.
-
Well you know what I mean. I was trying to make a point from a collector's point of view, although badly it would seem.
-
Yup. It came off as more... elitist.
-
Yeah man, branch off into some less mainstream, and alltogether better series. I would rather have one of the Shin Megami Tensei games than every Final Fantasy game ever made.
-
Try Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
I still have the original of that one too.
That or Illusions of Gaia.
-
I've played them all, I just love FF the most. Its not just because their popula rme r its just because the storylines just connect with me very well.
-

I give up.

Snes or GTFO
I very much agree, the best gaming console ever made was the SNES.Which conincedentally had some of the best FF's and other RPGs ever made.
-
I very much agree, the best gaming console ever made was the SNES.Which conincedentally had some of the best FF's and other RPGs ever made.
PS2 is second best for Jrpgs. That is, if you put in the effort to find the good ones (FF died around the Squenix merger, which was around the release of the PS2)
-
(http://i42.tinypic.com/10mvrkw.gif)
It sure is changed avatars around here.
but on a diffrent note, I agree with you Rahl (>^_^)/
-
I very much agree, the best gaming console ever made was the SNES.Which conincedentally had some of the best FF's and other RPGs ever made.
I somehow agree as well.
The best Metroid came out on the SNES.
The best Zelda came out on the SNES.
The best DK's came out on the SNES. (Well, nearly all DK's did but anyway)
Some of the best FF's came out on the SNES.
Some of the best Mario games came out on the SNES.
Earthbound, Starfox and F-Zero all started on the SNES.
Chrono Trigger came out on the SNES.
I think there was a good Kirby on the SNES.
Etc.
Plus it's the console I grew up playing with.
-
Yea but it had some great stand alone games too.
Illusions of Gaia
Killer Instinct
Equinox
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
http://www.retrojunk.com/details_articles/1528/
This guy has the right Idea
and LEt's not forget Super mario RPG
-
I prefered SydLexia's top 100 SNES games. It was more interesting to read, cause it had like 5 people commenting on each game. And don't limit yourself to SNES just CAUSE ITS DA BEST. PS2 has some great RPGS if you dig through the FFs and shitty SRPGs.
-
I know. I loved Star Ocean till the end of time, .hack Infection, and Sudokien 3.
doesn't dark cloud 1&2 techinacly count as RPGs too?
Were just saying that the on-topic idea is around the Snes.
-
I still laugh at people who say there is one console which is the greatest. Because honestly, none of them is the single greatest console.
And I still stand by what I said, owning the PSX copy is the same as the SNES copy. **** longer load times, it's the same ****ing bloody game which I still paid for and which still features the same story with the same events and the same characters and the same and the same and the same. Get where I'm going at Rahl? It IS the SAME bloody GAME. Now only read the capital letters. IS SAME GAME. Get it? If not, then you are stupider than I thought.
Now what ain't the same game, for example, are Resident Evil for PSX and Gamecube. Because those have major differences. But what is the same game, is like Fallout 3 for the 360 and PC. It's only a different port, it's still the original game with the same events characters etc etc. Now I typed this twice because apparently you don't understand a thing I type it once.
-
Yea, but owning the original makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. (j/k)
I understand. But owning FF3 for Snes and owning FF3 for the GBA are two diffrent feelings.
Its like me saying I own CT for the DS is the same as owning it for PSX or SNES.
-

As for this the only response I can give you is to take a chill pill, or cyanide it really doesnt matter to me. And no Im afraid they are not the same game because I happen to own both and the PS1 version actually has graphical cinematics that were by no means at all availiable in the SNES era, and were NOT in the SNES era, therfore they are not the same game.
And yes I am very stupid thanks for pointing it out.
-
Earthbound started on the SNES.
Wrong.
-
thank you cherko. I'm pretty sure it was fanicom :3
-
Wrong.
He was just one letter off but thats not as bad as saying Metal Gear Solid started on the Nintendo.

what the hell is final fantasy, i hear so much about it but i dont know what it is.
=(

Obvious troll.
... Right?

Damn you're dumb. Wow, so we get a bit of bonus with the PSX? It's BONUS. It's not remapping the entire story.

Im just pointing out it is obviously not the ORINGINAL game...

I don't think he's gonna find time to play them all, Uperpwn!
-
A really good snes game is lufia and the 4 sinastrals or mario allstars
Thats what i would buy
And Lufia is like FF
-
I happily own Persona 3 FES. But that is not SNES. So I suggest SMT 1 and 2.
-
I have to dissagree about the zeldas, my favorites were on the 64.
This is the only thing I agree with. Technically, if you have an english copy, you don't have the original printings either... Our games come out way after they do in Japan.
-
Wrong.
thank you cherko. I'm pretty sure it was fanicom :3
Oh, I didn't know that.
Well then:
Earthbound was on the SNES.
Haha, now you can't say I'm wrong because the first one was called Mother!

And this is true. I recommend Earthbound for someone looking for an RPG out of the ordinary.

Indeed, kid needs variety... BIG TIME.

Hey, are we having a grammar party? May I join in on the fun, my friends?

No, get it on a SNES Emulator with the translation patch.

It is illegal to see a detailed diagram of a penis. Especially a male's.

I hope your joking.

Some things I am just very consistant with because I actually believe them. I am a huge bleach fan and I do hate MACs because they give windows such a hard rep. Just things I believe that I do not see tardness in.
Come on deadly WHY SO SERIOUS??

I suggest StarFox. It was the first SNES game to use the Super FX Chip, the first 3D game on a console and the best game in the StarFox series in my opinion. Back when starfox was about flying around in an arwing, before Nintendo decieded that what gamers wanted was a series about furry ground combat with plotlines that range from confusing to comically stupid.

Oh, Starfox 2 is good. Get that if you can find it, shouldnt be hard to find.
It is illegal to see a detailed diagram of a penis. Especially a male's.
Especially a male's? Do women have them now?

You obviously didn't read what I said very well, because I was saying that that misspelling was consistent with your other mannerisms, not that you are a consistent person. MACs are called Macs. There are Macintosh computers and Mac OS operating systems. Macintosh is a type of apple, get it? Apple? Windows is craaap. It is, really. Sure, some of the newer models are relatively stable, but they are vastly inferior to the Mac OSes, Linux OSes, and many others. The code would make a knowledgeable programmer vomit. (BTW, don't cite more applications available for Windows; that's just because more people use it and it's smarter marketing. It's a vicious cycle, k?) I remember, back in the day, I had a 95. ****ing thing would overheat and crash if I didn't run a fan into the box. Bleach isn't that good of a manga, and it's very mainstream.
I'm not that serious; it's easy for most people to point out these things.

Chrono Trigger, being a nonlinear game AFAIK, doesn't develop as much plotwise as FFVI. You can battle the final boss in like 10-20 hours if I remember correctly, but the plot doesn't develop as much, and the battle will be much more difficult.
The reason to get it is gameplay-wise. There are only 2 Chronos, canonically at least, whereas there are 10 good Final Fantasies and you may not have played too many of them. If you like them, like my buddy Rahl, then I guess that's OK, but if you want something unique, Chrono Trigger is the way to go.

Sometimes
Many words, including "I'm not that serious"
I cry BS to the not serious
To the Windows thing, yes Windows is crap
Like...bad
I personally never got that many crashes/freezes, but it does happen
Whereas when we had a Mac, it never froze/crashed/gave us a hard time
Same thing with Linux

I mean, I am serious. But I'm not like raging over it IRL.
So, SNES game suggestions?
Yoshi's Island is great.
-
Yea. I know that felling. :3

I used to like Bleach. Then they started with those horid fillers. I know, I'm too lazy to read the comic, but they still fucked up.

who still reads manga?

You know what I'm about to say. I don't even need to say it. You know already.
-
who still reads manga?
I still read them, there almost as great as fantasy novels to me. But they seem to go too fast.
-
Yea I rarely read manga's, I prefer anime, which I also rarely watch...
-
I watch and read them as much as time allows.

Meh...I read alot during school...I dunno, it makes school less miserable of a failure it is.

I only read (as in bothered to finish) one manga in my life and that was Doubt (Rabbit Doubt). I really want to see that turned into a short anime series.

Nah, I'm passing, I just need credit recovery. but there's about a 10% chance of me actually failing, and that would require me to zombify myself during school and do nothing.
