Sweet, I would suggest getting your hands on some Glögg, I'm quite certain that it isn't a thing outside Sweden and our Scandinavian counterparts but nothing says Christmas like some hot steamy glögg. Maybe IKEA sells glögg btw? This needs to be investigated.

Glögg is the single best thing with Christmas.

Aaah, christmas spirit... it's ****ing gone from where I live I'll tell you that much. We currently have exactly one person with Christmas lights in the neightboorhood, and even so he was like 'eh, kind of it's time to put it up' last week.

I guess it might be because I don't really watch TV anymore, but no one is even talking about big J's birthday.

I work at a spirits shop. Since we're not open tomorrow, today I'll be selling every one their Thanksgiving spirit to help encourage them to talk to their family.

Oh right it's thanksgiving now. How is that working out for you guys?

Also, do your shop sell glögg?

I'm working on Thanksgiving! Yay!

I mean, it's the afternoon shift, so at least I can get some time with my family. The real tragedy is that I'll miss out on the Black Friday slaughters sales.

Oh man, is it that time of the year again? Can't wait to see how many injuries and deaths will fall this year.

I used to make Egg Nog every year during college.

Never used the exact recipe, but I always used Sailor Jerry's spiced rum, and a lot of it.

Good stuff, I can recommend making a few batches.

I hate Alcohol. The taste and the way it makes my stupid brother act. -  -; Ugh. Hopefully he won't get the "Christmas spirit" and buy a bunch of this crap then crash over here again. @-@ Drunk talk interuprts my thought patterns worse than even a blinking TV and house full of a chattering people.

Irish coffee is kind of the best thing about the season...even though it kinda has a racist name.

I don't like the taste of alcohol. And I don't want to aquire the taste! I'll pass! I don't need it to be cool, thank you very much!
Oh, Moosetroop isn't there... nevermind.

But in all seriousness. I can tolerate drinks that don't tatse like alcohol. Maybe I should try out some egg nogg mix or something...
Good thing with such drinks, I won't have to worry about what I might do since I'd probably end up sick from the sugar before getting anywhere.

Does anyone over the age of 20 actually think you need to drink alcohol to be cool?

Well, there's probably a few individuals here and there who might think so. I mean... there's all kind of people out there.

I have never met anyone outside of the world of after school-specials and cartoons that ever felt that way.

I've had some pretty tasty alcoholic drinks, some of which have little alcohol taste. I'm not much of a drinker, but I know that there are a decent amount of things to drink that won't leave your mouth tasting like ****.

Anyone from my previous university, for starters.

Everyone everywhere, actually.

Contrary to what I said earlier, this is 100% true. You non-drinking nerds aren't cool at all.

Drinking is great. It's relaxing and gets rid of your inhibitions. Also eventually it makes you fall over which is good fun too.

People who repeat that old "drinking is for losers who can't have fun without drink" rhetoric are just doing so out of habit. Sometimes becoming a better, more rounded person means learning when to resist peer pressure AND when to go along with it.

EDIT: I should point out that of course I don't think you need alcohol to have fun :p I won't be getting drunk on christmas day, for one thing.  Alcohol's like anything else; it's like the cinema for example, to use a bad analogy. It's like if your friends went "hey you want to go to the cinema?" and you went "No thanks I don't need films to have a good time. If you can't have a good time without watching a film then you're a loser!"

You know what I mean? Kinda?

Or you could just say "Nah sorry, not feeling like a movie tonight" without the preaching that makes people roll their eyes. And I know a lot of people who will do the speech you just presented. Such a lack of social skills.

Although watching a film does not alter your thoughts. You can't watch movies and then do activity under their influence. And driving is usually safe after watching movies.
Yes, yes, you did mention yourself that it was a bad analogy, but you know.

My first post was merely a reference to a reply made by Moosetroop to another one of my post on the subject of alcohol in another thread, in which he felt I had an "I don't need to drink to be cool" attitude due to my apparent strong opposition to alcohol.

In reality, though, it's mainly that drunk people are usually bad company for me, in the same way that a person who enjoys reading in tranquility in their spare-time wouldn't enjoy the company of an energetic sport-crazy guy bouncing around. Bad experiences related to alcohol, minor or major, would explains why I seem so opposed to it, but I'm actually not. Or at least not in the "I don't need to drink to be cool" kind of way. See it more as an automatic "No" if I'm invited to a place where alcohol is the main motivator.

The important thing is, as long as you have a live and let live attitude, then everybody's happy :)
