Charas-Project

Dunno how useful this might be, but I recently joined Facebook, and as I was flagging various things as "liked" I thought to look for Charas Project and realized it's not on there.
Since Facebook is one way to passively direct friends, family, and miscellaneous strangers towards topics that interest me and might be of interest to them, and since Game Maker and RPG Maker are already on there, I'm thinking maybe we ought to have a page there.
But it's just a thought. So I thought I'd post it here and leave it to whoever to decide what to do with this suggestion :)
-
I'm largely against anything social-networking, so I cast my vote against this motion.
-
I don't see the need to show my friends and family a random internet forum where I talk to people I've never met. Keep internet life and real life seperate, methinks.
-
While I could care less about how much people know about me, lots of people like to keep their internet lives and "real" social lives seperate.
I personally don't have much of a distinction between the two, so again, I don't care.
Basically my point is the answer is likely to be "no", although I'm personally impartial.
Personally.
-
I don't want hot babes knowing I make RPGs in my spare time!
-
No.
-
I'll say yes just because everyone else said no and that makes me unique.
-
I barely even use FaceBook. I sometimes even wonder I keep my account active considering how inactive I actually am. Because FaceBook is a social network and I am asocial. But that's beside the point.
I'll say maybe, because it'll make me even more unique than Grandy.
-
I'll say yes because Grandy's saying yes.
EDIT: Also, Kilyle, your sig is really weird!
-
I don't mind a Charas Facebook page. I don't use Facebook, but lots of people do to the point where I can see where Kilyle is coming from. I don't want to have to handle it myself, but if someone else were to make a little page that does us justice, that would be fine by me.
EDIT: Also, Kilyle, your sig is really weird!
It's a respect list. A big fad a long time ago was to put the names of users you respected in your sig. It was sort of a passive-aggressive thing, back when the community was a lot more split. Wow, that takes me back.

Which was horrible, I'm glad I joined in on the tail-end of all that.
I vote Yes. Because I use facebook a lot. And I guess when the mods update the front page you could update it on FB too. (70% higher chance I'll see it. +5 Crit rate also)

You didn't look hard enough: https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6064959923
The lack of activity indicates how well the idea went. :P
-
So that's that. Already exists, didn't go over well.
-
It did help me to add you guys so that I could sta...I mean...get better acquainted with you...
-
Yeah, no, MyFace sucks.
-
I'm indifferent to this idea. I don't use Facebook because I couldn't care less about social networking sites, but if somebody wants to make one, more power to them.
-
Still, I think it's a good idea. but then again it is me speaking here
-
You could always join the current existing group and raise the member count to 10.
-
Yeah, no, MyFace sucks.
We know, Lucas.
-
We know, Lucas.
I didn't wanna say it myself.
-
I didn't wanna say it myself.
Since your face is somehow worse than mine.
But Archem is pretty much the uglyness (and fat) of both of us combined, so, I don't now.

*know :3
-
That was a typo. Obviously.
-
Since your face is somehow worse than mine.
Join me, Lucas, and I'll make your face the GREATEST in Koridai.
Or else you will DIE.

huge bitch bluh bluh

I thought you didn't read HS.
-
That is the most boring page ever. I mean, here's the description.
A group of members of charas-project.net and its forums
I say we put Archem's picture as our little profile thingy.
-
It's sure to garner internet fame.
-
I thought you didn't read HS.
I just talk to a lot of people who do read it.
-
Still not sure why you don't read it.
-
There's just so damn much of it. Fairly sure I'd be dead of old age by the time I got up to date.
-
It doesn't help that the first stretch of it is boring as ****.
It only gets interesting once John gets hit by a meteor.
-
Nah, be fair. It gets interesting about from the time he confronts his dad onwards.
-
I'm going to have to disagree with that.
Well, it starts having more of a plot once that happens, but it's still kind of a tedious "do silly thing!" montage.
-
I very much enjoyed the beginning. I was only really annoyed at the start of the troll arc.
-
I've kind of started reading it, though I have doubts that I'll ever catch up to the current updates. I have to say that I didn't really get interested about it until the meteor part and when Rose was introduced. I actually dropped it for a bit and picked it up later because I couldn't get into it on my first attempt to read it. It is pretty awesome once it actually gets going, but it's just a shame that it takes so long to get to that point. If you can get that far, it's totally worth it.
-
Whoever makes these really shoud rewrite the beginning to make it less boring, or something. Most people who don't like it (myself included) seem to dislike it because the beginning is such a pain in the ***.
-
Again, I really do love the early parts. You know, before it gets convoluted as all hell.
-
Ahem.
>Facebook
>Charas page
>Admin: Jude O'Neil.
Wow. Most people won't even recognise that name.
When's the last time anyone saw Charaman on here or on MSN?
-
Who?
-
Whoa. I remember.
-
Charasman... Cool guy, I miss him.
-
Funny you should say that. I was browsing through the photo topic for a picture of archem to post when I came across a ton of his posts. Back in 2007
-
Why would you post a picture of Archem?
-
Yeah, that's a pretty bad idea. It doesn't help that most of them are of horrible quality.
-
..wasnt charaman was lord raffles? lmfao
-
Eh, I thought he was one of his friend of something. I suppose I missed something there.
-
Why would you question posting a picture of Archem?
-
You know what? You are right. In fact, I'm going to post this authentic, clearly not MS Paint modified picture, this irrefutable proof that he was behind the Hindenburg crash.
You are a monster, Archem, and you know it.
-
God, I sure was. Then. Now, I'm more of a malevolent horror.
I'm also somewhat more photogenic now.
-
..wasnt charaman was lord raffles? lmfao
No. Raffles got inside Charasman's account for a while, and impersonated him, but that account was then banned and he made a new one, if my memory isn't failing me.
-
Yeah, Charaman was pretty cool for a while. He's the one that told us about that awful troll forum during the great ancient age of the Troll Invasion and Sanctuary Fortress. It was way more fun fighting them than it is fighting spambots today >_>
-
What concerns me most is that Silas/ZKX is an Officer of that group.
Silas in power is an utterly terrifying concept.
-
Yeah, at least we knew that there was someone on the other side of the computer. <.<
I came here kind of late as far as troll-fighting goes, but Raffles still tried to post every once in a while. I'm not really sure why he still bothered, but he was much cooler than the bots.
And Drag, wasn't he a Mayor of Charas for a while? I mean, Mayors are as powerful as Mods are, pretty much.
-
Zeek is still my favorite Charasian.
-
He's the person that got me into music. I gotta thank him for that.
-
I still don't know if your musical taste is of quality.
-
Do you even know anything about my musical taste?
-
Well, I can Imagine what kind of songs you like.
-
Clever.
-
I guess, but that's a good one! You can't use the fact that I like a good song by a good guy as an argument for me having bad taste in music!
-
Nobody is.
-
You know what sucks? The fact that you have more posts than I do. It gets me pissed. I had more posts than anyone. Then, crazy bug happens, and I lose one thousand ****ing posts. I mean, sure, I'm catching up, but damn. What the heck.
-
Just so you know, I didn't mean to label this song as bad or anything. In fact, I have this very song on my iPod.
Beside, musical tastes shouldn't be judged... to a certain point.
And post count means nothing!
-
Sure it does! It is a representation of how much time we spend online and how much of a nerd and a loser we are!
...wait. You know what, Archem, keep the first place. I lost interest.
-
Pff, I stopped caring after I hit the 10k mark.
-
I don't think I've ever cared.
-
After I crossed 50k it got kind of dull.
-
No one can derail a thread like Charas. :P
-
Oh lord. I think just a page to like wouldn't be a big deal.
-
SaiKar, you cheater.
-
Oh lord. I think just a page to like wouldn't be a big deal.
Well it's there, even if it's not that well maintained.
-
No one can derail a thread like Charas. :P
If this was old school Charas, this thread would have gotten locked on page 1 by Carmen or GhostClown ;)
-
Oh, nobody loves old-school Charas.
-
Yep. Just the golden days in between where requests would be answered, teams and mini teams were actives, people were helpful, games were made, and there were no bots. Oh, the golden days, how I miss thee.
-
Well it's there, even if it's not that well maintained.
Huh. Just found the Charas-project group and joined it. =P
-
Joined it under my account with a fake name. You'll know when you see it.
-
Why would you even have a Facebook account with a fake name
-
Why would you even have a Facebook account with a fake name
Because using your real name is just asking for the online predators to find you.
-
My FB first name is Felix. Although that's not my real name. It's what everyone calls me by. I'm more used to hearing Felix than my real name.
-
Facebook won't let me change my name anymore. Damn nazis -_-
-
Why would you even have a Facebook account with a fake name
Parents are a tad overprotective.
And my Italian teacher told me I should make my Facebook/Email/whatever Signor Lastname. Sniffles is just whatever because my last name is ridiculous.
-
Pff.
Real name + Real Last Name is the way to go. A "_" in between works great, too. Oh, and don't use caps. Yep, there you go.
Like... lucas_irineu. The perfect handle.
-
Facebook is run by evil corporation man who was played by the guy who could easily be swapped with Michael Cera. They don't allow a username. It's first name and last name.
Basically, Ian_Lastname wouldn't work. As a first name, it also doesn't work.
Speaking of Facebook, Twitter all the way.
-
I got myself a twitter. I haven't logged since the day I got it. I think my screen name was Deplorable_Puss, or something like that.
-
They don't allow a username.
Well... they kinda do. You're allowed to do the Nickname thing, as well as make it so your profile has a name. Like mine is oboe.joe or something like that.
-
I got a twitter on december. Deleted it last month because it was sending spam to people.
I had a total of one twit. "Okay, I have a twitter. Now what?"
-
Well... they kinda do. You're allowed to do the Nickname thing, as well as make it so your profile has a name. Like mine is oboe.joe or something like that.
I'd like to know how to do that. But then again, I'm not about to hook up my online ident (Kilyle, which I use for everything) with my real name. As someone else said, there's plenty of reasons you might want to keep them separate. I'm nervous enough about having my friends and my pastor on the same list (not that I post anything I wouldn't want my pastor to read, but my friends use some of the worst language I've ever heard in my life).
But anyway. I'm not too familiar with Facebook groups, but I wasn't really thinking along the lines of "group". Just "page" that I can Like. I mean, I can... and am about to, after I finish this message... simply post a link to Charas, but that disappears after a couple days, which reduces its usefulness as both advertising and reminder.
But who knows how many of my friends on Facebook might be interested in joining Charas, or making use of the graphics here, or getting involved in making hobby games for themselves? (Knowing my circle of friends and how I've discussed hobby game crafting before, I'm gonna say "practically none" but you never know....) A link (that stuck around) would let people browse their way over here, just like my links to Alice Cooper, Teräsbetoni, Sabaton... Minecraft, Emily Rodda, etc. Passive word-of-mouth advertising that doesn't require my active participation at the same time as my friend's interest.
P.S. My signature? I think I was pretty peeved about a news story back when I wrote that. I don't mess with my sig very often. And yeah, the respect list was "Hey, everyone else seems to be doing it..." (which isn't my motivation for very many things in my life, so cherish it).
ETA: Post Count 108. Boo-yah.
-
Since '04? You're a real heavy hitter, aren't ya?
I'm poking fun, in case it's not apparent. Given that you're not a common forumite, I feel that it's worth putting a disclaimer in, just in case.
-
I don't want hot babes knowing I make RPGs in my spare time!
There's nothing unattractive about creativity. :(
-
There's plenty unattractive about being an RPG dork. For example, you're pretty damn ugly, but if you never touched this site, you'd be quite hot.
I don't think this is working out like I envisioned...
-
This topic... is awkward. Must be because Lucas posted in it.
-
Lucas does seem to awkwardify topics.
