Title: E3 = started
Post by: Prpl_Mage on June 14, 2016, 06:35:06 AM
Although I kinda feel like the internet is flooded with info about games these days that expos aren't needed and the amount of games being released is so humongous that it's hard to be hyped about stuff I feel like I should at least update y'all with what I found interesting at the press conferences so far. Feel free to write a few words if there is something you think I missed.

Death Stranded
A trailer about a future Kojima game, we have a beach of dead seafood and a naked man, a baby and a scifi theme. But nothing else revealed, can we expect sneaky stealth action? Perhaps

God of war
Apparently not a remake, just a new game in the series. I kinda expect this to be the DMC of the God of War series. Kratos got a beard and a son, runs around in a Scandinavia and kills a troll who talks about valhalla.

Horizon zero dawn
A good looking game t osay the least, looks like an open world 3rd person rpg-ish hack and slash. It kinda reminds me of the witcher but with the huge difference that most enemies are cyborgs or machines.

Resident evil 7
Creepy, first person and mannequins. Also VR apparently. It looks like a solid game with the FPS giving an eye for details, but I'm not sure if it will feel like the next game in a series or a new one entirely.

Crash bandicoot remakes of 1,2,3
A pretty good idea to be honest. We haven't seen a Crash bandicoot game in a a long time so it makes sense to remake the games.  There was no video or anything but knowing that it will happens is good enough for me.

Final fantasy XV

We've seen more of this game recently over the past 10 years so who knows, it might actually finish in time. I'm still really unsure what this game will be like. It seems to me like it tries to be everything.

Nintendo will have a press conference soon enough and show some of the new zelda. It will be great to see something new from that since 2013

I played the demo for Resident Evil 7.

It was fun and pretty creepy.

The new Zelda game has really caught my attention. I really hope it doesn't suffer from "Ubisoft open world syndrome" (I made that up).

Part of what makes Zelda so great is the LACK of barren empty fields and long walking segments that don't add anything. I've always like how Zelda has
a semi-open-world feel that still keeps areas condensed and full of interesting little puzzles and secrets. However, if they can keep their Zelda magic then I think this
could shape up to be amazing :D

Paper mario colour smash looks like it's Super mario sunshien but platformerish . It also seems to be reusing Sticker Stars system of finding objects and stickers to use in battle.

Tokyo mirage sessions still look good

Shin megami tensei and Persona 5 also looks really stylish with the first to the 3ds and the other on playstations.

Also Ever oasis looks kinda like the new Fantasy Life, only more battle oriented?

Death stranded will not be stealthy, Kojima is trying to do something entirely new with it.

Also, apparently the resident evil 7 trailer didn't showcase gameplay only feeling...

Pretty much looks like what FF explorers should've been.

I played the demo, and everything plus more that was in the trailer was in the demo.

The demo worked similar to PT, in the fact that a lot of different things could potentially happen. I went through the demo and checked online to only to find out that I did 1 out of about 3-4 paths to 2-3 endings.

They are apparently doing a remake of the trainwreck FFXII. I don't know how better graphics will improve any of its major flaws though.

Nier automata however is looking slick, the battle seems smooth and the boss battle they showcased did seem inspired a bit by bullet hells.

Another Tales of- game is in the making as well, expanding upon the setting of Zestria.

Also, GTA XV - I mean FFXV will have transforming and flying cars.

The people behind Lords of the fallen are now making a science fiction-ish game. Based on the footage it looks a bit more actiony and a bit less gritty than the other title.

I got pretty hyped by the New Zelda. Honestly, I am now pondering if I should buy a WiiU or the NX when it comes out. Will probably be the NX if it's retrocompatible.
I got badly not hyped by FF XV... I've failed to be impressed by anything shown since its beginning. We saw the same region AGAIN, the combat system looks really not fun and unclear (it was for both demos already) and shows some severe technical problems for a game due end of September. It shows how badly SE does when they develop themselves, which was shown already with XIII-2 and LR...
Pretty hyped by the new Pokemon game too, haven't been since the very first generation.
Overall not a splendid E3 -not that I was expecting much seeing how sad the industry has been for a few years already -, although Nintendo went marvelous with the new Zelda.

XIII-2 and LR were very fun to play, so if that's an indication of anything for FFXV, I'm a little more excited now.

Too bad people typically wrote them off without even trying them.

Well I had the platinum for both and I hardly had any fun, especially for LR...

But despite that, I was rather making a point towards the technical problems (LR and XIII-2 already had some severe problems, especially with the framerate drops and the aliasing), and the gameplay to which I've heard not much people being convinced by. The inclusion of a wait mode so late in the development shows in itself that the devs are actually agreeing to the current feeling. I am not trying to be pessimistic or anything, because I sincerely hope that SE surprises us all and that the name of Final Fantasy might be again a proof of quality like it was before, whereas nowadays more and more player are not at all convinced by the games they developed themselves (and not the one they edit like NieR, for example. I'd like to say since the fusion of Square and Enix, but I personnaly think the scission was made before that with FF7). What is currently shown of FFXV leaves however not much hope for that, at least that's my impression. I really want to be mistaken.
