Title: FF5 Style Base
Post by: Osmose on August 04, 2004, 05:30:37 PM
I made these sets after someone asked how they could make FF6 style battlesets. I was wondering If they look good as a base. I'm also working on hair and clothes, so I can submit it all to the battleset generator.

I used Butz to make these.

I would say so. You will need a fair number of other resources if you want to start a new section on the generator though.

I'll get to work on butz's hair, clothes, etc. and all of his classes. would that be enough? And if anyone feels like making a custom part for this base, please do.

EDIT - Wow, I reply fast. Also, was the elvis head in the facesets section an exception to the rule? Besides the two skin colors, various hair and suit colors, theres only a handful of submitted stuff, including my black mage elvis ^^

SECOND EDIT - Here's a list of parts that I've finished.

Bases
 -Butz

Faces
 -Butz Blue Eyes
 -Butz Green Eyes
 -Butz Red Eyes
 -Butz Purple Eyes
 -Butz Golden Eyes

Hair
 -Butz Brown
 -Butz Knight

Clothes
 -Butz Basic Clothes
 -Butz Knight Clothes
 -Butz Ninja Clothes
 -Butz Black Mage Clothes
 -Butz Dragoon Clothes

Accesories
 -Ninja Helmet
 -Mage Hat /w Crescent
 -Dragoon Hat /w Mouth Cover

WHAT I'M WORKING ON - Ripping and editing the basic Classes
WHAT WOULD BE APRECIATED TO BE DONE BY OTHERS - Recolors

Okay, So Here are links to bases you can use to make other parts for the FF5 body. Do NOT use the base above, I've removed the eyes.

hmmm nice... good for the people with cbs's.
Title:
Post by: Osmose on August 04, 2004, 08:07:06 PM
I tried to make the poses as close as possible to matching RM poses. Unless you mean something else by CBS(i thought you ment custom battle system, and since im not THAT experienced with RM2K or 2K3 didn't even know whether it could or couldnt be done.) I feel so stupid :p

EDIT - Oyes, I'm almost done with Butz's Basic Clothes, I'll post the link incase anyone wants to recolor it, since I have bad experiences with fireworks and recoloring. Besides, I'm far too busy doing the hard work to steal credit from the recolor junkies :p

i MEANT custom battle system.
i meant that its good cuz almost all of those use sprites as bchar thingies.

So if anyone wants to do some customs or recolors, I'll be happy to take em! (Just to reiterate it, it's in a post farther back)

Another thing, I'm revising the pose when he holds both arms up, I'm moving his belly upward more and at a slant to allow for the clothes to look less baggy (i cut it close with the knight suit) as soon as i finish with the knight suit I'll upload it for recoloring as well as the updated base.

Also,I'm shifting the heads and a few small parts that are a little out of synch, most of them have to do with holding both arms up.

EDIT - ARG! There's a problem with the hit graphics. I have to make a custom for most of them since it changes for each class. Same for the dead graphics, since the player usually reverts to their basic clothes when they die. This'll take me a bit more time.

there nice, realy good job!
Title:
Post by: Osmose on August 06, 2004, 04:58:26 PM
meh, ive been working on it but my custom skills arent the greatest(making the base was a simple recoloring and tiny modification of his base suit).

So I've now figured that for me, in order to make his class clothes, I will need to make, at most, a custom made thing for both magic poses, hit pose, weak poes(in only a few cases) dead pose(for all of them), read to attack pose, practically half of all the sprites will have to be custom to fit the pose -.-

but ill work through. i just wish i didnt feel so hopeless being the only one doing this :P

Eh, sorry for the inactivity (not like anyone cares) but the knight edit was annoying to do - it turned out pretty good though. I've added it to the link list above, ready for recoloring. I also uploaded the updated bases, which have a handful of small improvements made, including some thick line problems and the belly thing. PLEASE SOMEONE JUST DO SOMETHING WITH THESE!!!! :yell:

I will try to talk with Alex about creating a new category in the generator. It will take some time, though.

(this is holidays, what did you expect? :) )

Done with the ninja clothes. I'll be doing the helmet later. And I did some more tweaking with charging magic and defending. The legs are more thing and spaced out for smaller clothes.

Done with black mage, added to list of links. I'll be doing the hat for the black mage and the ninja hat, and some modifications of them without the crescents before I go onto the next clothes sets.

i'll make a black mage body and hat ok?

Ah, cool. Yeah, it will be much better if there is a lot of material done. Don't worry about recolours. Those can be done after the new base is set up.

And beware of "almost white". Many people do it wrong and I'm tired of fixing resources  :D

i know. in testing the head i found some errors in the blk mage clothes.
heres the fixed one:

EDIT: part 2 has no errors, luckily.

No no, there must be only one base. You must adapt the clothes to the base, not the other way. That's why you must use "almost white", to cover up the parts of the base that don't match the dress you are drawing

...Araloth, I just said that I finished the black mage clothes. What you posted is exactly what I posted, down to the custom kneeling neardead pose and the wierd but cool looking dead pose. - .- NOTE - Just realized you said body, buy I dun understand why you posted a pic of my clothes set O_o

And your heads are nice but kind of round. That's why I posted up links to the base and head, so for the head you could just color it for something else, or modify it further. I really aprreciate the effort. Really.

And I dun use "almost white" Most of the time I make customs for the body if I can't rip them, but sometime's I consider the problem a flaw that's big enough toi require modification to the base, The fighting stance thing was one of them, since the feet were far too wide. But for almost white you use, like, 255,255,254 right?

Today's agenda: Assorted Black mage hat and ninja hat accesory sets, and maybe another clothes set, depending on how much time I get into it.

EDIT - Just realized that you said it was fixed to go with ur head. Well I was under the impression that heads go BELOW clothes, so as long as you keep it where it is in the template, then it should fit with my clothes.

if you never noticed, black mage head ARE round.
btw loomk at the clothes post. i said it had errors i fixed.
Title:
Post by: Sarg on August 08, 2004, 04:16:07 PM
Yeah, 255, 255, 254 is almost white :)

Just bear in mind that you must only use one base type (which you can then recolour), and only one. It must be common to all the heads and dresses. Else Alex would need to make a thousand different categories for the battlechar generator!  :|

yah i got it =P
Title:
Post by: Osmose on August 08, 2004, 05:09:17 PM
Yeah, the naked thing thats in the list of links on page one is the base. Theres also a base faceset there.

Araloth, look at the base face set. the heads arent perfect circle shaped, and I'm too lazy to test fit yours when it would be easier to just use that and color it black with the eyes. That's all I ment.
Title:
Post by: Araloth on August 08, 2004, 05:17:48 PM
i tested it myself. it works damn***************************************************************************
Title:
Post by: Osmose on August 08, 2004, 05:27:34 PM
Is it so hard to just use the one that's already there? With the circular one, people might, for some unkown reason, use your bmage thing as a base and make something that DOESNT work. I dunno. But seriously, is it that hard?

Done with the Ninja Helmet and Mage Hat. And from now on, if you want to do anything with the resrouces I've uploaded, just go to http://www.osmose.us/images/ff5style and it will all be there.

And I just tested the resources in the generator, and so far they work and look pretty well. Soon I'm going to take a break from ripping classes to make a weapon set to test them out in an actual game.

.... man a blk mage with a normal-formed head looks stupid.

... a black mage with the normal formed head looks just like the one in the game. so your calling the game creator stupid?!?! :P

i did a dragoon clothes set and uploaded it. the helmet will follow and then my next one will most likely be a ninja.

And i tried using some FF4 suits, like the DK, but they require some modifications, so after i do a few more ff5 classes ill move on to trying to get dk and engineer. and then THIS my masterpiece ^^

man tst the head i can assure you it works
Title:
Post by: Osmose on August 10, 2004, 01:47:27 PM
You're not considering hats, other clothes that have less covering! the roundess will make it look awkward! Why can't you see that?! It's a simple five second recolor! WHy must you fight it?!

BTW, I did the dragoon help but I slacked off yesterday, so today I'ma double my efforts. Hopefully I can get the ninja done, and then maybe work on an engineer or another class.

this is getting stupid.
im only doing this to make people's games better.

I know. And I thank you and respect you for that. I'm really happy at least SOMEONE is helping!

But, the way I make faces and the way the face thing works, is that I take the suit, take away all traces of skin color and head things, put it on the base, make some modifications if I have to, and even make some custom made clothes to fit, since some don't fit at all.

Even if it looks good in mage clothes, that don't mean that it looks good naked or in other clothes. I align and make all my clothes and hats on a base head. The roundness of your head just makes things awkward. I don't see how hard it is to take a head, color it black and make the eyes yellow.
