Yeah, I got it too. I don't really like any of the characters honestly but the story is refreshingly different and the battle system loads of fun.

Word.. The charaters are nothing but repeats..Square needs to lay off the whole blonde thing..

OTHER than that, I am enjoying the game.

I don't think I'll get it. I played the demo that came with Dragon Quest VIII and it was boring. Plus it looks kinda similar to that piece of crap FFX.
Title:
Post by: plightofthepureblood on November 01, 2006, 02:29:52 PM
meh....Id like to play the game...but im PC elite now. Im too cheap and poor to buy a new console, just for one game.

If there was a PC version, and it was, as forementioned, 20-30 bucks, Id be into it.

After X2,and X, ive been really apprehensive about FF titles. Which is a shame.

They should quit making sequels, and trying to emulate past charcters....and just remak FF6, in a complete 3d enviro....no new Battlesystems.....just make that world 3d and pimp it. They cant do it with 6, because theyve already raped it so bad.....

I got it. It's pretty much a 70 hour movie, but it's really awesome. I think it's da best FF ever.

Don't say that... Now I feel obligated to get it...

When you say movie like, is it similar to FFX in that aspect, if so, I HAVE to get this game. I can wait for X-mas, just one less Wii game I get.

Ehh... FF has sucked for a long time in my opinion. When they stopped focusing on the game, and more on the graphics, they became a bad series.

Oo? Well if some people love it, then it's not all bad news. I'll get it once they're kind enough to bring it out in the UK.

Sweet, first KH2 and now FFXII and not to long betwen them either... Well at least not for us Europians.

But gods I hope that we wont have to wait half a year till itīs released here like with KH2.

Hmmmm.....

*Looks at Christmas list*

Yggdra Union...
Disgaea 2...
Okami...
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance...
Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria...

Huh. No Final Fantasy. Just five other just-as-great games.

Don't get me wrong--I just haven't seen the 'OMG this'll give you an ORGASM!!!!2!' thing in it.

I was a fan of the main story, it was wonderful I thought.

The characters were well made, and unique, which has alot to do with the fact they were voice acted. The World was also well defined, you got attached to things, and just about everything was explained in the world. (Besides spheres.... What's so special about spheres?!?!)

Too much storyline and not enough gameplay.
Long cutscene, play for a few minutes, get into another long cutscene...

I am gonna get this game because they brought back Gilgamesh and his themesong! And Mr.Mister's endorsement only sweetens the deal. Plus, since it is gonna be the last Final Fantasy I get for Playstation (I will NEVER ger a PS3) I gotta have it. That way I can get the prequel to it for the DS.

The story was decent... But for some reason it's rare for me to actually beat a game, I get bored when I'm near the end. *shrugs* I stopped playing FFX, and watched my brother beat it instead. I think only FFTactics, MGS 1 & 2, and PE were the only games I ever bothered to beat.

I think I'll just visit DarkFlood's house more often. Unless I don't like the battle system. From what I've heard, it's a "love it or hate it" kind of thing. I just don't have the money for a new Final Fantasy or a PS2.

You guys keep saying tidus was gay...do you care to explain how Tidus is gay..please that would help if you could.  Instead of keep saying he is gay..its very immature for some of you...
Title:
Post by: Cosmos on November 01, 2006, 10:28:14 PM
Tidus is gay because he sucks as a character. I thought Auron and Wakka were better characters then him. He wasn't the best main character, There have been better main characters in FF games, example Zidane. He was awsome, and actually funnie. Um... Cecil was also a good main character, he handled his issues and kicked ass.

Worst main characters were Cloud, and Tidus. Cloud didn't really show emotion until it was like the end, and he was a bit too insane (In a  bad way). Tidus was annoying, although his limit breaks were good.
Title:
Post by: Revolution911 on November 01, 2006, 10:32:08 PM
Cloud was cool. Sephiroth took it up the ass. Cool guys ALWAYS have no emotion.

Tidus is gay because I hate blondes. Boy am I hate mongor today.

Post by: Blue_Strife on November 01, 2006, 10:33:10 PM
To add on to Tiff's rant:

Tidus was a prepubescent whiner (aka, a bitch). :P

And for the record; *SPOILER*

Leaving your girl on top of an airship to jump to your death without so much as saying "I love you" or something along those lines implies gayness. <_<...
*END SPOILER*

LOL, I had more to my rant.. hold on lemmie get it.. spoilers and crap below.

Ok.......... *remembers his pass childhood* BOO WHOOOOO ;.; My dad was the greatest blizt ball player but he never had time for me, everything but me was more important. Wahhhhhhh... and my own mom never paid me any mind while he was around. My life sucks... < - - He was such a whiny character. Therefore ghey.

There.

Probably both.
Title:
Post by: DragonBlaze on November 01, 2006, 10:59:52 PM
Tidus was too much of a sissy, he complained and whined. Some heros have cool backgrounds, like cloud, being an ex-soldier (kinda...), Squal was a SEED, Zidane was theif... But Tidus was a blitzball player... He was just stupid...

Vaan kinda seems like Tidus (from the hour I played FF12), but a little better. Anyway, he seems to be like Tidus, just without all the sissy-ness and whining. He's ok in my books thus far.

As for the rest of FF12...

Story seems good thus far, very interesting.

Graphics are pretty sweet.

The battle system SUCKS!!! You select an enemy to attack, you walk up to it, and stand there until the battle is over, its so ghey. You should at least have to press an attack button when your ATB fills up or something that gets the player involved in the battle... Maybe it'll get better later on...

The bigging intro is WAY too random, its long, and it covers a lot of stuff, it jumps from one spot to another, one part theres a movie, another part is just text, another part is an old guy talking... I don't like it too much...

All in all, I think the game is pretty cool so far.
Title:

*Possible spoilers in entire post, read at own risk*
My favourite character of FFX has to be Auron. He was who made the game what it was. Without his character, I would've liked it a lot less.

Second close up is Seymour for sure. He was so wicked to seduce Yuna to get her to marry him so he can be offered for the final summoning and return as Sin to destroy Spira to purify it. I liked him a lot better then Sephiroth.

Third must be Wakka, mostly because he was the comic relief of the game.

*Major spoilers warning*
Now the story had some really great points to it.
For one, I liked the fact that Auron was an unsent and his 'dead-scene' was just... great. He rocked the game so much. The Seymour plotwist was awesome too, along with the Al Bhed and the war between Al Bhed and Guado. Gotta love Cid and Rikku. The overall history given throughout the game and knowbits about the world are nice too.

What I didn't like, was the emo Tidus part and him being 'just a dream'. I felt it way overdone. Also the romance with Yuna was too expected. Rikku would have suited him better, but meh.

GAMEPLAY
Now this is something that made the game more than the story. The minigames; the way you move past zones, no more world map; but mostly the battlesystem. RPGs have always been know to have battles of 3 or 4 of your dudes. So you had to choose. FFX however was made so that you can use everyone, 3 at a time, in a battle. This brought up so much more strategy than ever before. The turnbased setting and the fact you can see when who or what attacks are awesome too.

LEVELING SYSTEM
Now this was my favourite part of the game. The sphere-grid. It was just... SUPERB. No more leveling your characters hours after hours after hours for set skills till they reach level 100. No, instead you could choose your own skills. The sphere-grid is a superb system that I'd love to see again.

BLITZBALL
The blitzball minigame. The only minigame in any game I played for like 1/10th of the game itself. It pwnd, it pwnd hard, it got killed in X-2. Shame.

If you'd love to see it again, look in FF12 :D Its kinda a mixture between a sphere grid and the normal way of leveling, each level you get your stat point increases and such, plus you get some points to go to your licence board (FF12's version of the sphere grid). Instead of following a path like the sphere grid did, its on a board kinda, once you learn a skill, differant sections of the board appear, so its pretty cool.

I wasn't paying attention... Did you play FF12 yet? Cuz if you did, I probably just wasted a minute or two of your life...

I thought FFX was absolutely amazing, personally. It doesn't bother me if there are a lot of cutscenes, I love a well developed story.

*****SPOILER WARNING*****

Zanarkand Ruins and all of the scenes surrounding it still ranks as one of the most well-done areas I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. It was just so poignant...

... returning to the point where you started the game, with the same scene (around the campfire): at this stage Yuna could've died for all we know, as Tidus had finished his tale and so we may be walking into the final boss for all we know.

Then, of course it turns to night and the glorious "A Fleeting Dream" music comes on (love that track so much). It's just so sublime how you're running towards the area where you're potentially sacrificing your love (from the perspective of Tidus here, obviously :P) and the music in the background both brought ideas of the past and the nature of what you're doing. Truly magnificent.

Then the scenes within the Dome. Incredible. I loved the emotional depth to those scenes, with the incredible "Revealed Truth" music in the background.

Zanarkand Ruins ROCKS.

And yes, Seymour was awesome. And he never gave up. I actually sighed a sigh of relief when he was FINALLY sent. Seymour Flux was like the hardest storyline boss too :(

Oh, and for the record I actually grew to like Tidus. Didn't like him at the beginning, but at the end his story becomes too tragic for you not to sympathise with him. Besides, it's okay you all judging him from where you are here, but if you lived through the scenarios he had to go through, I can guarantee you'd be a tad  emotional.

*****END SPOILERS*****

I'm going to get FF12 the day it comes out over here in England, as I have with all of the previous ones since number seven... shame it comes out in FEBRUARY!

Damn UK release dates...

Cid is in FF12 somewhere. He's referenced as a "doctor" by some characters though I get the distinct impression he's up to his usual meachanical tricks. I haven't run into him yet though.

Getting decently far into 12. Very cool, very different.

Sorry, but I disagree. Seven was ok. Eight was a little less then ok. Never played 9. I hated 10, I got to the quiet lands and quit cause the game was the most boring thing I have ever played. 11 doesn't count. FFX-2 I've never played, and it looks terrible. Suffice to say, that Square is not anywhere near my favourite in video game making. They hit their peak on the Super Nes, and have been in a steady decline since. But, that is my opinion.

The only good thing about X was the battle system and the grid map. But I didn't really like the characters, and the story got really dull really fast.

I played Blitzball more then I played the game, cause it was more fun.

FFVII is the last 'great' final fantasy game, in my opinion. My favourite is either FFIV (or originally II) or FFVI (or originally III). They didn't have the technology to waste time on the graphics, so they didn't. I also liked the Tactics games, and the other gameboy releases.
Title:
Post by: Cosmos on November 02, 2006, 04:58:49 AM
You can't say something sucks if you haven't played it dude. FF9 was one of the best square games ever, the story was awsome and you had to love the characters. It was pretty hard to get bored in a good ol fashion'd story meets modern technology story. FFX-2 was good too, but half way you'd get bored because of the constant missions and inconsistent story line. Although, I did like the game but the long dress sphere changes killed me.. even when they were shortened.

Also, ff7 can't be ok and be the last greatest game eva :P FF8 had a good story line, and the graphics were good too. Sure not all the characters (selphie for example) you'll like, but there is something in there to like. FFT was decent, but I hated the fact that you couldn't get to everything unless it's on a certain day. Example, the stupid zodiac stones. Hated that part, and the limited amount of characters you could hold annoyed me because you'd actually have to let go a good member. The job missions was cool tho, and I wasn't really into the battle system. It wasn't as interactive as I would have liked it.

FF2/4 was one of the best, I agree. Cecil was an extremely good lead character, he went through a challenge and came out a man. He was awsome, so was the game in general <.< Kain was cool too, ^_^ His jump skill saved my arse from time to time <.<. FF3/6 was one of my favs, I love Celes and Edgar. Terra was a bad character personality wise, she became emoish while protecting some kids. Not a good combo. Celes attempted to kill herself too, but she did it outta love and lonelyiness <.<;;

FF5 is pretty good too, although lvl'in up your job class is a pain in the *** because it takes forever and loads of battles. I don't like battles unless the battle system is interesting (baten kratos for example), or interactive (any tales game) in some way. But the story is decent, characters are ok. Meh.
Title:
Post by: SaiKar on November 02, 2006, 05:11:16 AM
FF7 was pretty good, I'll admit. Certain parts of the game were just gripping and it had a lot of minigames. I never liked Sephiroth though. He was kind of cool because he was insane, but everyone just liked him because of the huge sword. Meh, Sephi was like Kefka in the "insane guy wants to destroy world for questionable reasons" plot, but Kefka had way WAY better one-liners.

FF8 lost me near the beginning when everyone passes out on the train and your party becomes different guys. I never was hooked much anwyay and that point made me just put it down.

FF9 I played the hell out of. The graphics were really whack and some of the cast very boring, but it was an entertaining game and had enough variety to get me to play it more than once, which I rarely do.

I originally didn't play FFX for a long time because I heard you couldn't fly the airship. In retrospect this sounds ridiculous but it came out at a time in my life when I was consdering designing aircraft as a living. Plus searching the world for different things in the airship was a big theme in all the other FF games.

I eventually got over myself and played it, and found it quite enjoyable.

FFX-2 I tried to play. I really did. I actually got past the grrrl power scenes and made it pretty far in the game, but the story got very odd and the gameplay a bit too repetative. It seemed like they just took all the best parts from FFX and recycled them, but poorly. I eventually gave up.

FFXI I spent a good two and a half years playing online and actually quit tonight. It's a decent game and has a lot of fun fights, but I strongly advice against anyone playing it. It just takes up too much time.

FFXII I'm playing right now and rather like where it's going. My only complaint is that ALL of the characters have the same options for advancement. It's hard to make someone a dedicated healer because you can't really focus very well on giving them more MP and more healing power and stuff. It's basically a bit too much flexibility and all my characters are becoming clones of eachother with only very minor differences.

Im torn....

ff6 pwnd. it pwn hard.
ff7 pwnd.
ff8 was pretty good.

Never played 9 that much.

10 was crap.
10-2 pwnd 10 for gameplay in the battle system.....but it got ferociously ravaged for story.

I stopped playing when FF tunred Net.

I think they are trying to hard to make everything more advanced.

I think if they used an engine like FF7 or Six had....even 8....(But the draw thing was lame)......and put as much effort into the graphics as todays installments do, the franchise wouldnt be as ......   whats the word......

oversaturated?

No......

Happy mealed?

No.....

Played out?

no....

It would have the suck knob cranked way down, anyhow.

9 = <3

FF7 had some fun parts and good music.. I didn't like how far they were straying from the old FF's at the time, but I accept the change now. I really like FF8, because the characters were likable and realistic. Except Squall. FF12 shows a lot of change in the series too.. Hm. Shady Ultima, you are still wrong. About everything. You can make long posts that I won't read, but you'll still be wrong.

FF12 is really awesome because it's connected with ALL of my favorite Square games.

That's why I mention that I hadn't played them. I didn't like 8, mostly cause the characters bored me. I didn't get very far though, so that could be why as well.

I may rent FFXII to try it, but I don't expect it to be very good.

My opinion is that FF was better before 7, and seven was when they started to go downhill.

I liked one, aside from a few things. I liked 2's lvling. I have yet to play 3. FF4 is one of my faves. Also have never played 5, and 6 is a great game.

Short enough for you MR MR?

No. Outside Japan it went FF1, FF2 (JP 4), FF3 (JP 6), and then skipped right to FF7 on the playstation.

No, both Japanese and English numbering are the same after 7. But since they never released 2j and 3j (both for the NES) here, they renamed 4j 2us, didn't release 5, and renamed 6j 3us. So yeah, Terra = FF3us or FF6j, and Onion Kids = FF3j.

I hate how we don't get games till shitloads later. I want t oplay FFXII so badly. I just finished KH2 so I need somethin new.

I liked Tidus, and hated Wakka. I dispise him for a character. In battle, he was cool. The rest of him sucked. I can't explain it, I just hated him from the outset. I do agree with FFX boring me a bit. I only liked blitzball. I suppose the bit I got up to was boring. It improves alot later though.

FFIX was good, but the ending story dissappointed me. Zidane was awesome, Steiner blowed.

FFVIII was my favourite due to characters and story. The gunblade rocks and Squall and Seifer are cool characters.

FFVII was great.. but slowly I began to lose my love. Its still good, just not the orgasm it was. Cloud and Sephiroth are ****.

Good point. At some times, Squall is pretty BA, but at others, he's a total tool. Also, saying 2 and 5 weren't released here is a little misleading. 2 was released here for GBA, and 5 was released on a playstation compilation.

Final Fantasy 1 sucks if you aren't 6 years old.
FF2 was a great game solely because of it's sweet stat building thing, they should have that in other games too. FF3 = onion kidz. Apparently the DS version has a hidden class 'Onion Knight', as homage to the shitty translation on the internet.

Mr - As I recall, the FF2-style stat building is used for the SaGa games.

1 and 2 on Gameboy use that, but SaGa 3/FFL3 has a normal gain-exp-and-level-up system. Dunno about the later games though.

I actually loved FF1. Played it forever until i was level 99, but I can't say I'm a true fan because It was for the GBA. Same with FF2.
I never played FF3 (It's always been an enigma for me),
FF4 was godly,
FF5 was awesome,
FF6 was the third best game in the world for me,
FF7 was the best game in the world,
FF8 was great in places and bad in others,
FF9 was awesome all round and came close to FF6,
FFX was great, blitzball rocked and character switching was awesome
FFX2 was something I tried twice and had to give up both times,
FFXI I never played (But I don't count it as part of the series)

For the record, Squall sucks because he is an emo.
His jacket is neat though.

And I don't see the big deal about Seymour. Besides that now-awesome point Drace pointed out about wanting to marry Yuna for his own reasons, his last battle was a disappointment. I hit him 4 times and he died. I had to reload the game just so I could get the EXP for everyone.

I hated mystic quest because the mapping graphics and story were horrible. I thought FF1's story was better....and thats like the epitome of clichee.

I wasnt a fan of the battles.....

But the music was good for its time, I guess.

Maybe i was just expecting more from it?

Got it on the 1st, the collectors edition. But lucky me it wasnt sold out, but as I said many times, I reserve my games months, years in advance. Then I get my copy and enjoy my day, I still dont get why many people just dont do that, Gamestop even cuts tax out of reserves where I live. If you reserve a game, so much tax is not counted, and I save money, plus my membership card cuts 20% off all reserved game prices. Then any game I trade in to pay it off is another 25% off, so Reserving is like 100x better then just buying it, and hoping you get a copy.  :corn:

If we're talking about outside the main series, FFT is my favorite.
You're wrong about it being original, though. It's pretty much a fancier Tactics Ogre. It was even done by the same people, moved to Square.

FF8 not being able to gain money from fights was one of the reasons why I got so frustrated with it. My usual way of playing an RPG is that I gain most of my levels and money while exploring rather than going out specifically to level - I always look everywhere in dungeons and such to make sure I don't miss an item, and I end up either keeping up with where I should be with levels and money.

FF8 I always ended up neglecting my SeeD rank and being stuck with no money and already having taken all the tests. And I just didn't want to bother with doing missions.

FFT was awesome. FFT:A was not.
Title:
Post by: SaiKar on November 04, 2006, 05:22:34 PM
Money is sort of an issue in FF12. Normal monsters don't drop any money and humanoid enemies that would logically have money only drop a little bit. However most enemies drop items that are specifically for selling. Basically when you run short on cash you find some local monsters that you know drop things that sell for a lot and kill them for about 10 minutes to get enough money to buy most of what you want. It's a good way to keep your character levels high too.

BOOOOO!

C'mon, dude. Sure the story was quite as "saint elmos fire" as FFT, actually, the story was pretty kiddie, but for being 2-d, and for GBA, it was awesome (I thought). It had all kinds of replay value.

And you could jack up your morphers....

I liked it better than alot of other FF titles.

It pwnd 10 and 10-2.

No laws in FF12. The judges are less about enforcing rules and more about KICKING YOUR ***.

... yeah, I have some lingering mental scars from the first fight with a judge. And they just introduced like 4 more into the plot! Gah!

Got it a couple days ago, im in the prison with the mimics.

I was first introduced with FF with FF7. Ill admit it was a great game and THE game to get me hook to RPGs in general

I beat:

FF1-6: Never played
FF7: 100% COMPLETE (Beat all secret bosses, got all materia Everything. Replayed the game 5times.)
FF8: 100% (Beat all Secret bosses. Etc etc. Replayed 4times.)
FF9: 90% (Beat EVERYTHING Except for Ozma (The planet boss.) I vow to beat him without using the "Quina" tactic. Replayed 4times)
FF10: 99% (Beat Everything, except for some of the "Monster Rancher" Monsters. They are WAY harder then Omega weapon in the game. Replayed 2times.)
FF11: Never played and will never play.
FFX-2: 80% (I havent completed the 100floor dungeon, as the game no longer interest me no more. Beat the storyline once and probably never will replay.)
FFTactics: 100% (Got all classes all characters, everything :) Replayed 2x.)

I mean, flying ships that shoot laser beans, furry and weird things killing each other senselessy.
And those moogles, why they remind me of Ewoks?

And seriously, empires, guards opressing merchants, Michello(I think that's how it's spelt, I think) remind me of that alien which got banned from the underwater thing in the first Star War (4th movie).... everything there seems like a big George Lucas ripoff.

Once you get onboard the Leviathan, it SCREAMS Star Wars.

If anyone wants to know why I haven't been posting: it's this, school, and a somewhat broken computer. (We only have 64 mb of ram.  :( )

I LOVE this game. It's got a Matsuno storyline that's fantastic. It's got Sakimoto composing. I love the battle system.

My only complaints, if there are at least 4 enemies on-screen, I get my *** kicked. Also, I've gotta micro-manage a lot. My characters are underleveled, but they're pretty strong. I figured out how to spam the Limit Breaks so I can do 10,000 at least 3 times in a row. (Feels just like the Vagrant Story battle system. ^^.
I've been ignoring the Gambits so I'm trying to go back and buy some more.

I'm stuck on Henne Mines. The bats that suck your blood and the horses keep killing me.

BTW, my Favorite FFs were 4, 6, 7, 9, and Tactics. I didn't really like 8 & 10. I really liked Vagrant Story. This game is just up my alley.

WTF?

They have an airship for all the summons except the coolest and most popular one; Bahamut.

The hell?
Title:
Post by: DarkFlood2 on November 08, 2006, 04:47:49 AM
Because Bahamut is so cool, he doesn't need an airship.

Yeah. I guess you're right.

Kinda like how I don't have a final fantasy airship. I'm just to damn cool for them.

Laguna remake..? o.o I liked the original better << Fran and her boy, balt whatever are my two faves so far. Penelope or whatever I can't stand. Ashe is awsome, and Vaan is like a mix between tidus and the guy from vargant story. It's ok.
Title:

Saikar: Thanks! Warp OWNS.

Meis: I thought the final dungeon was called Sky Fortress Bahamut or something? The game is 30 hours long. You really got that far?! If not, remember I'm stupid.

If there's one more thing I like about this game, it's the voice acting. Except for maybe Fran, I haven't been annoyed by it. Fran is my favorite character too though. She and Vaan get the only real funny parts.

I found out Vaan is Hey Arnorld, and I  still can't believe Basch is Bloo from Foster's. That's just wierd...
Title:
Post by: Meiscool-2 on November 09, 2006, 12:26:55 AM
I didn't get to the end yet.

But yeah, it's called Bahamut.

BTW, does anyone know where to get a great serpent skin other then the one you get on the snake hunt in the mines? I sold mine and now I need another one for a quest.

He does.

Also, Fran is an annoying ****.

Why can't she just say: "Take the right path" instead of "The path we must take is the opposing path of the left path. I smell Mist. Lalala."

Bloo was done by Keith Ferguson, same guy. However, Vaan wasn't done by that voice actor. He was done by bobby something.

FF7 was the best by far...overall I mean...
Socond comes 8...Squall's the coolest cha.acter.
Final Fantasy Tactics has the best story...
Tifa was the hottest chick...
Wakka was the dumbest...
Sephiroth was the coolest villain...
10 had the best growing system...
8 had the best fights...
6 had the best music...

Bought 12 today, gunna play 2day!

You`re right, I forgot `bout Rikku...In X-2 she was my dream girl...

Anyway, the much I`ve played of 12 tells me:

-Battle system is marvelous, real genius work.
-Growing the characters will be fun too.
-The characters look amazing, Vaan is not gorly at all and the other guys are cool.
-The story is still pretty much unrevealed, but it`s a superproduction that makes Spielberg (sp?) look dumb.
-It`s taken SO MUCH from Star Wars...Grandy is right.

Seymore was a pretty boy bizznatch.
Sephiroth pwn'd him.Not that sephy wasnt a pretty boy.
Kefka was cool, but not really all THAT cool.

Id like to see garland make a comeback. His low bit rate robbed him of coolness.

Rikku was pretty much the "hottest" but Yuna was kickin tifas arse in terms of hot factor, in my opinion.

I prefered 7s music, only slightly over 6's.

I liked the card game in 8 better than the other games minigame.

Im hoping to be able to play 9 for the first time tonight.

Al bhed was sweet...

Khimari was dope....Barret was kindof hurting as far as madatory game musscle was concerned...but was wicked for his time

but um...Yeah, I see the point here.

In 55 minutes, I should hopefully be playing ff9 for the first time ever.

So Ill be able to remark better than.

Allthough from what ive seen, Zidane is a bit gayish too.
Title:
Post by: Cosmos on November 13, 2006, 12:17:09 AM
Zidane ain't all that gay.. I'm not sure, but wasn't there a scene that seemed kinda gay between him and vivi? I know Rusty calls vivi master XD

Edit: yeah, it was the peeing scene. I was like O.o for a minute.

Other than that, Zidane seemed pretty straight to me. He actually asked out women. I think he asked Garnet out, and I think he asked that waitres in Linblum out too. That was the scene when you first saw Freya.

Overall, Zidane and now Vaan seem pretty straight. I admit Vaan's pics are really girly. He even bears a resemblence to Micheal Jackson...

The first time I saw Vaan I said to myself "Huh, Square decided to make another female main character for Final Fantasy, now terra isn't alone". Then I saw his clothes and thought "Ok, he's a tranney, whatever" now I'm just plain confused by him...  Freaking gender androdgenous (sp) main characters.

Zidane wasn't too gay, Kuja is another story entirely...
Title:
Post by: emiiru on November 13, 2006, 01:25:25 AM
Zidane grabbed Garnet *** in the game and said, "oh, soft!" or something of that nature.  Pretty much not gay.

FF9 is boring to play, but the cutscenes are okay.

We have two copies of 12 at my apartment, and I still haven't been able to play. Maybe we need two PS2s.

Vaan is pretty cool, but the concept art of him shopping... gay.
Title:

Boring to play.  It's only my opinion.  My ma liked it.  I liked the plot, but I didn't like playing it. boring.  I watched her play; she beat it. It was cool.

I did; however, like the sword fight in the beginning.  I played until the middle of the second disc.

FF 12 really doesn't have a main character, which completly sucks ***.

I like this type of gameplay more, but where did the plot and reason go? Where did the character dev go? There's little of none in this game.
Title:
Post by: Cosmos on November 13, 2006, 04:01:30 AM
I thought Vaan and Ashe were the main characters. <.< Specially Vaan, since he's the main one you run around with first.
Title:
Post by: SaiKar on November 13, 2006, 04:07:43 AM
Ashe is CLEARLY the main character. She's the most important person politically and she basically is making all the important decisions on where to go and why.

Vaan's a nobody, which is odd since he's the male lead.

I do like the story and I especially like the lack of meaningless love subplot that only gets in the way, but a little more development wouldn't have hurt. Like Penelo. We know basically nothing about her at all. Some backstory or some hard choices for these people would have done the plot a lot of good.
Title:
Post by: Cosmos on November 13, 2006, 04:11:47 AM
Yes we do... she's vaan's best friend, and possibly has a thing for him. Her family took vaan in, and eventaully her family was killed off. Then she and vaan started hanging out with migelo or whatever and she started working for them. THAT IS STORY. Ashe and Vaan are the main characters. Vaan wants to be a sky pirate, gay.

Title:
Post by: Meiscool-2 on November 13, 2006, 04:41:25 AM
Vaan is the main dude for the first fifth.

Then comes a mix including Basch for the 2nd fifth.

Balthier/Fran for the 3rd.

Ashe/Balthier for the 4th.

And, as far as I can tell, the rest is Ashe. I havn't beaten it. I still have yet to fly to Bahamut's Fort.

As seen above, there is no main true character, and I base this on nothing.
Title:

Title:

Balthier and Fran are the sky pirates. Vaan is the wannabe sky pirate. Ashe is the fallen princess. Basch is the fallen night. Penelo is the annoying chick who MUST DIE.

I like how they went so far as to add facial expressions on the characters. Looking at Ashe's uncle, I was like o.o when he twitched XD.

Addicted slut. I have a messed up controller... I only have two dual shocked controllers, and they're both messed up. Like the sticks decide to move the characters on their own, which is really freakin annoying. The r buttons are kinda crappy.. r1 doesn't really work, and I pressed r2 but it does nothing really.. -.- BUT WHO CARES!? Still a kewl battle system, <.< I want ff13.. ;.; It looks like it has more story <.<

As for 13, I heard in one of the Nomura interviews that the chick isn't the main. That there isn't a 'real' main. It follows different characters stories at times rather than focussing on just one.

But it's Nomura--he likes confusing ppl.

And yes, I'm addicted, wenchie poo. :P

How the hell does Mist Quickening work? In Basch's Eternal Darkness it says I gotta press r2 lots of times and then tringle, I donīt really get it...All I know is that I got a 1.3k dmg outta a 3 hits of this thing...
Title:
Post by: Blue_Strife on November 13, 2006, 03:54:36 PM
R2 shuffles the thing so it either goes to Mist Charge or more attacks. Depending on how many combo hits you get, you get a special elemental finisher (So far I've seen Inferno, Cataclysm (earth dmg), Torrent (water dmg), Tempest, and Ark Blast (Lightning PWNAGE). Careful though--the more times you hit r2 to shuffle, the faster the bar goes down. If you see any attacks/charges you can hit, use those instead. :P

And Tiff, send me that torrent over msn later. I want it! ^_^
Title:
Post by: Cosmos on November 13, 2006, 03:56:36 PM
OMG I was asking the same thing! I'm confused as hell with vaan and ashe. I got both of theirs, and while I was doing ashe's quickening I saw vaan's too. I pressed r2, and Vaan was blinking.. wtf?

Kay Luke.
Title:
Post by: Blue_Strife on November 13, 2006, 03:58:47 PM
Well, you said your r2 didn't work, so you can't shuffle. So if it the hits don't come up on their own, you're pretty much screwed Tiff lol. Think of the quickenings as a different 'Desperate attack' or limit break system, or something.

Unless you can somehow switch the controls, then you'd be fine.

So, we shouldnīt have left this thread to go to page 2...Ž_Ž

Maybe some spoilers. Beware.

Anyway, update:

-Balthier is the coolest non main character ever. I also like Vaan, even though he's pretty green. The knightly attitude of Basch is very well done. Ashe is rude, but she DOES act perfecly like a pricess. Penelo is dull, but she gives the game a good mood. Larsa look awesdome, and is cool too. Fran's voice is perfect for her. She's also nice.

-Battle system is the best also. And Summons look kewl.

-I donīt like the lack of real limit breakers, BUT the quickenings look amazing, and the combo possibility is just sweet.

-I hate the lack of money. Thumbs down for this.

-I like the license thing too, but I feel a lack os real useful skills other than magic. End up all my characters are having some kind of magic.

-Graphics are stunning. Not the best thing Iīve seen in the 3rd generation of videogames, but it certainly fits the mood of the game.

-Marvelous storyline, adult and complex, yet totally undertandable. The characters are awesome. Just like FFT.

-I feel a lack of hot chicks too. I mean, Ashe is cute, but she's so rude that I couldn't lay a finger on her. Penelo, well, forget I mentioned her. Fran has a grade A azz, Iīm surprised that the american version didn't put her a boxers-look-alike bikini (seriously, what the **** is wrong with america's bikinis? They're like men's underwear!).

Anyway, there's a lot to see yet, but if this quality is kept till the end, itīs gonna be the best FF ever. Unless the do some really ridiculous thing like they did with Star Ocean: Till the end of time, the crown goes to FF12.

Post by: aboutasoandthis on November 21, 2006, 11:11:24 PM
Are there any mini-games in this? The battle system is fun, but it would be nice to have some.

Two, has anyone got passed the Elder Wyrm in the Jungle? I just beat Tiamat and the Henne Mines (I just now got to really sit down and play). I'm a little pissed that I just beat a difficult boss for me, only to fight another one after walking like...three maps.

Those were both easy. I seriously have encountered no hardships in this game except for the final esper... I forget how to spell it. The fly with a ring around it. Anyways, it has a 33% instant death spell that once killed all three of my main characters at once. My sub characters are still lvl 20 on down, so yeah... I died.

Uh, I think it's called Zodiark, not sure though. It's Dark Elemented.

I have around 60 hours on it right now, however, I don't buy games that often, and only bought FF12 because I'm a fan of the series. Right now I've got all the Espers and Hunts down except for Yasimate or whatever it's called. Haven't even tried to fight him yet. I did however beat Hell Wyvrm. Long *** fight, that's for sure.

As to mini games, their's fishing, button-tapping-running, and I think one more, but I forget.
