Have you tried clearing your temporary internet files? The page not updating just for you is most likely an issue with your browser keeping a cache of the old page and not downloading the current page.

Post by: Fisherson on June 05, 2008, 02:50:40 AM
How do i do that?
Title:
Post by: Osmose on June 05, 2008, 03:20:21 AM
Well you say version 7, so I assume you use Internet Explorer.

One should always Google for an answer before just asking (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260897).

Did you try refreshing? I know it sounds dumb, but sometimes it works.

Take a screenshot of the front page, or, even better, try and save the HTML file and then post it here so we can see what you see when you view the front page.

Everything on the page (Recent topics, News, AND Resources) are all out of date in your copy, so it's not just, say, a glitch in the thread grabbing method.

It's not out of date DNS sending you to the old server because you can post here. That's the only server-side issue that would cause this, so you can stop trying to blame this on Charas. :P Something must be causing your browser to not download the main page but use an old one it still has stored somewhere.

To clarify, since you never actually said: You're using Internet Explorer 7? Make sure it is the correction version number (Help -> About usually has this info). Also, how do you actually visit Charas? Do you use a bookmark, type in the URL, or go to a file on your desktop?

I'd point out that the "Reply to PM" function isn't working, but I'm not sure if it has ever worked, so I won't bother.

I know the CR wasn't working a few days ago but I fixed that. You sure it's STILL not working? I just tested it myself and I can browse it fine! Same with PMs.

And it's not a server, it's a browser, to check it you should look in the top menu if there's an Help->About selection.

There is no help on my browser just back button and favorites.

Yeah, you're probably using Internet Explorer, to bring up the menu you have to hit the ALT key.

But even so, IE is a pretty bad browser with a lot of security vulnerabilities and other problems, and I highly recommend you get Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)

Attachments are broken due to site permissions and we're currently fighting with the server overlords to get it fixed.
