I did notice his absence, figured he'd left again. Of all the long time members, it doesn't surprise he would get banned, but I must have missed something. Were the mods just tired of him being belligerent?

Plot summary: He started by trying to get a rise out of everyone and everything, was warned by several members of staff including Osmose, disregarded warnings, cried about his posts being deleted when there had been no mod actions for 10 days, and eventually we got bored of him.

Nobody else has his attitude. A few people may step out of line here and there, but give them a quick "hey, watch it" and they'll tidy up their conduct. Meiscool's response was basically "nah I don't think you'll do anything about it, so I'm going to keep trolling".

Rev actually trolls much, much slower than Meis, though. Meis was practically a bi-hourly squeeler, while Rev just jabs at someone every now and then... Fuckin' STILL. I like both of their 'trolling.'
Also, I only use the word troll, because that's the supposed reason they kicked him. I wouldn't call Meis a troll, without it being so implied.

I'm not saying you're the same person, but hey, it seems to me like if that sort of thing got Meiscool banned, then why not you, or MrMister, or, hell, how about me sometimes, or dare I say it, Osmose? Once again, I like all of these people, but I feel like I've seen all of them and others do things at some point or another where if taken a certain way, it could just be... BANNED (not that any of you would ban yourselves, though, of course haha).
I'm just gonna assume I missed something big, but Meiscool seemed to do a lot more of what he apparently did to get banned now in the past, and it's now he got banned. Kinda funny.

I say we bring him back. He contributed to Charas way more than other members did. He did the mapping tutorials, the request guidelines, uploaded a shitload of stuff on resources, posted those cool maps and stuff to be used with them, and thats just what I remember on top of my head, I am sure there is more.

You know, if you think about it, I'm kind of a small-time troll. Most of my posts are completely off-topic, slightly inflammatory and offensive, and I contribute absolutely nothing to this community. Still, Meis was rather ridiculous from time to time, each time being about 5 minutes apart, so... yeh. Hadn't seen him doing much lately, though, so I saw this and was like, 'Whoa, WTF?' I guess I just never read the right topics. Oh well. He'll find love someday.

And I can't really complain about the decision being too strict or whatever, because I was part of the "revolution" who wanted stricter Mods, although I didn't consider permanent ban...

Basically, it worked like this: Quite a while ago, the same problem was encountered for Meiscool, doing this whole 'Trolling' thing. To counter that, the admins gave him a temporary ban. So, Meiscool took a forced break, came back, attitude didn't change or something. It was quite a while, but it was basically the same problem; Meiscool thought the administration's rulings somehow didn't apply to him.
So, when he basically goes tromping around the Test and Welcome board, getting all acted up about me (jokingly) editing one of his posts, which eventually turned into this huge feud about how the new mods were lock-happy or something, and then getting riled up against one of us apparently deleting one of his posts, and then getting fussy over THAT, we decided it was enough (I personally didn't think much of him, but in that sense, I'm way distanced from the others). Since we had already done a temporary ban to him, and that seemingly had not worked on him, we agreed to do a Perma-ban on him, and that was that.

The kid got banned for being a tool. I know probably most of us don't HATE the guy, I don't even hate the guy. Got nothing against him. He's great with sprites, maps and has some cool ideas for systems. But he still broke the rules and didn't care. It's clear the mods/admins didn't come to this decision quickly or rashly, it took YEARS to come this decision. Why defend him so vehemently? He got what was comin' to him.

I'm not vehemently defending him, I'm vehemently defending consistency. Everyone breaks the rules. To me, it's like all of the mods gave him to him, not proved him wrong. From what you're saying, he basically said, "Go ahead ban me. I dare you You won't do it! You won't do it!" Then the mods went, "Oh yeah? Oh yeah!? *BAN* Hah, proved you wrong!!!" So what exactly did you gain? Bragging rights that you actually did it? Great. Dare me to jump off a building and tell me I won't do it. I would say, "Hey, you're right I won't."
Really, to sum it up, if you ask me, he said "go ahead, you won't ban me" because he really wanted to see if you'd actually do it just because he said he wouldn't. And you gave in. He never actually stepped way out of line with the rules as much as the few who have been banned in the past have. Now to finish it, I dare you to ban me for posting this. I'm sure it's breaking in the rules in some way or another, so ban me for it. Let's see if you give in twice.

What the hell? That was a drastic turn in the conversation. While I think Gem's a cool dude, I'm not going anywhere near his nuts (although I do see some people headed South for the winter...). I dislike how mods are given infallibility here in general. Mods overall are given to much respect IMO. It's only when they do something crazy, like Warxe nuking Forum Gaming, that anyone says anything. But the little things... well no one ever complains because they're afraid to.
