Title: New to this concept
Post by: Agahnim on April 21, 2004, 05:29:23 AM
Hey, I am brand new to this whole concept of making your own sprites but I don't know exactly how to make them for myself. I want to make my own designs, creature designs but all the tutorials you have are how to make them with Paint Shop Pro which I do not have. I do have IDraw and Photoshop but I don't know how to make anything on IDraw yet because of lack of tutorials. What I am trying to do is turn this creature:  into a sprite. Not turn that picture into a sprite but I want to make a sprite of that creature. Can someone give me tutorials on how to make this on IDraw?

A tutorial on how to draw sprites? I have no idea how that would start. Basically what you do is zoom in close enough you see pixels (Squares that make up the image). You may have to look at a few sprites close up to get the idea, I'm still learning to do better though.

The easiest way is to edit the pre-made RTP chars, by changing clothes, hair colour, etc. Only talented spriters make their own from scratch. So start off with edits, then move your way up.

I do them from scratch all of the time, all you need to do is click the right color in the right spot and you'll get the hang of it

Oh thanks. I forgot about the zooming in part. But I am still looking for tutorials on how to use Idraw.

You can probably stop, there aren't any, I've been looking for a while.  If you need help on something specific you can ask, many of us use Idraw and one of us probably knows how to do it.
