does anyone happen to know what this says? i think its japanese (sry if its another language)

It might be what the spell name is... which is Zanzetsuken typcally... but whatever...

Yeah, the spell name is "Zantetsuken", which is Japanese for "Steel Bladed Sword", I believe. In NA, Odin's attack is typically called "Atom Edge" or "True Edge". So they could stand for that too. Or they could simply stand for Odin.

In FF8, in the Odin animation, those symbols appear, don't they? I dunno what they say, though.

I've tried translating them, but I can't figure out what they say. None of the things you'd thing they were match.

Yeah, I'm playing Final Fantasy 8 at the moment and when Odin appears his attack is entitled "Zantetsuken" and I'm pretty sure that those exact symbols appear during the animation. I'll check next time I see it.
