Alright, here's the stroy thus far:
The story starts off kinda cliche, and all around bad, but it gets better.
The basic story: The Eternity's End is the source of all magic. It lies in an unknown plane. Whenever a spell is cast, the Eternity's End loses a bit of energy, but quickly regains it.
What the Eternity's End IS, is quite complex: It is a plane, it is a time never to come, it his a creature, one of great power and dread.
Way back, thousands of years ago, the Eternity's End rose, and the planes is visited fell quickly beneat its power, although what exactly was done to them remains unknown. It's next target, the world of Ransk, found a way to harness the Eternity's End's power, and use it against it. This, was magic. Over time, magic's true meaning and purpose was lost, and magic is now used a form of weapon.
But the world leaders of Ransk remember, and upon solving an ancient riddle regarding this amazing force, have figured out that, should it be allowed to come again, it will not consume the world, but rather control it, giving incredible power to those who helped return it, but the frequent use of its power leaves it too weak to return. If magic is outlawed, and the Ender's ritual is performed, it will return, doing as the riddle said.
Your job is to stop it.
REGARDING THE DEMO:
The demo has very little to do with the actual story, as does the Lord Nogard referred to by the skeleton. He is the closest to the currently empty portal, through which the Eternity's End first came. He is also the one chosen to perform the the Ender's ritual.
REGARDING THE GRAPHICS:
I AM using RTP graphics mostly, along with a few custom NPCs, some of which made by friend. Some of the tilesets too, I got off my friend. Wether he made them or not I do not know.
REGARDING THE CLASSES AND SKILLS:
The classes and ipsofacto the spells included are based on the Final Fantasy series, copyright Square Enix. My apologies to those who may be offended.
REGARDING THE MUSIC:
Mostly from Final Fantasy and RTP.
QUESTIONS I WOULD LIKE ANSWERED:
Is there a way to make custom weather effects?
Thanks, that is all.
Oh yeah, and enjoy the demo!

Huh. The demo fails to upload, give me a few and I will try and fix this.
-
Couple things:
-If the Eternity's End was able to destroy entire dimensional planes, how was a magic-less, low-tech (I'm guessing) planet able to contain and seal it? It doesn't really make sense.
-It's not a good idea to use ripped and custom graphics together. They tend to clash, which makes both the game and its designer look bad.
-Try and use some different music other than FF and RTP; though some tracks may be essential to the game, chances are there's another track from another game that sounds similar. Using too much FF music can make a game designer look like a n00b.
EDIT: You won't be able to upload the demo as an attachment. Use GeoCities (http://geocities.com) or another host to host your game.

That's a cheap remake of Final Fantasy 3/6. Magic being lost, comes from another plane/world and it's now used as weapons and blablabla...
Still I love Final Fantasy 3/6 so I hope this'll be a good game.

I am a big fan of that game, but I don't think I made the concept clear enough. When the people figured out how to drain the Eternity's End's power (casting spells) they were able to weaken it. Whenever a spell is cast, it loses a bit of energy. It can regain it quick enough, but if about ten thousand wizards all cast really powerfull spells at once, that thing is no more powerful than a mouse on crack.
Oh, and I got the demo working. :D
Oh, and I don't mean magic as a weapon in the FF6 sense, more as in. "I cast fire on you!"
Y'know, like in just about every RPG with magic.

FF3 has both as you should know. Now let's try that demo and pray that it'll be good ;)
EDIT: Download isn't working here...

I see. Try the new link, I uploaded it to my primary (not to mention dead dead DEAD) domain.
-
how about uploading upon laterialshift. :)

I'm sorry, but the game was horrible.

I agree with Janne, the game really didn't just work, mainly because:
1)Story makes no sense
2)Characters are boring and they appear from nowhere (Tog was just standing as a road block on the way in a desert which wasn't desert afterall, look at the trees and such)
3)The first random encounter I met in the real desert killed me, because there were at least seven enemys which had way too much health and I didn't hit them even once (that may partly be just bad luck)
4)No potions or such, died many times
5)The areas were soooooo boring, just plain sand or straight wood/brickwall that you could do exactly nothing
6)The starting place had no exit
7)The boss at the beginning attacks only if you talk to it
8)When I managed to reach the "town", it had two working events inside, the boy and the cow. Game crashed if I entered the inn or the other house. Entering the window on the ladder just made the character teleport to the entering place of the town.
Please, you should even make the game working before releasing it. And should you be able to enter the ship near the city?
