Title: MP3 to MIDI
Post by: artoni on April 24, 2005, 07:45:15 PM
Hey. Another request. Different kind, though.

I'm giving each of the main characters in my game a themesong - a real themesong, lyrics 'n stuff. For Taurus, I've decided on Andreniline by Gavin Rossdale (from the xXx soundtrack). Problem is, I can't find a full MIDI version of it anywhere. So I'm asking you guys for help - either in finding it, or converting it from MP3 format to MIDI. Yes, I have the MP3 version, bue to it's size, I'm not uploading it here; let me know if you can do it, if yes, I'll upload it to my webspace.

Thanks much. <3

you can change an mp3 to an midi but it changes the whole song completely! I am completely sure that there is noooo way to change an mp3 to an midi and make it sound the even close to the way it was!

The only way to change the file so it can be imported would be to change it to a .wav it keeps the song exactly how it is but it except now it can be imported. i'll change it to a .wav if you want me to! just PM me or email me the song!

the problem with a .wav is it's the exact same size as the MP3, so it's way too big. And a midi doesn't have words, so that won't work for your plan. A midi is just little sounds, like pianos and guitars and stuff, no words.

I know. I don't want any words. Think Chrono Trigger, kind of.

WAVs aren't the same size of mp3s. They're ten times bigger, since they're not compressed.

MP3s cannot be turned into MIDIs, they are called realizers, they don't convert the format but the tone.

Chrono Trigger uses built in instruments much like a MOD or IT, or S3M.

What do you mean when you say it changes the tone?

just compare an MP3 to a Midi, you should get the picture.

They sound similar, if not exact. You can tell one is a version of the other.

That's what realizers do?

Sound similar?! Ok, this is how it works. Mp3's are usually real bands' performances. Just meaning that, instead of being made by a keyboard/computer, someone actually performs the song and then records it. That's the difference. MIDI = Sounds made by computer/keyboard/synthesizer, you get the picture. MP3 = Made by real performers. So, with this in mind, I guess you can say that Britney Spears, and those other crap singers are actually MIDI's, can't you? XD

Realizer converts the sounds of instruments to notes on a MIDI. It converts basically the sound to an associated instrument within the instrument library.

After testing a few realizers, I decided to go ahead and change themesongs. Mwa. Regardless, thanks for the help! :)

If your game is like 40mb because it's weighed down by YOUR FAVOURTIE METAL MP3's most intelligent people like myself will completely ignore it.

If it's a good game people like me might try it unlike stupid people like hydan.

They're not MP3s. They're MIDIs.  _sweat_

And in any case, I'm in the process of composing songs myself. When I'm done, hopefully, the soundtrack will be completely original. :)

Can anyone recommend a good realizer?  I'd like to try this as well.
