Title: Kinetic Cipher demo released.
Post by: Brickroad on April 28, 2005, 11:14:37 PM
Hi there.

This post is to inform you that I've just unleashed an RM2k3 game upon the world entitled  Kinetic Cipher (Again) .

Here (http://www.gamingw.net/forums/showthread.php?t=24263)  is a link to a Gaming World forum thread in which I discuss the game in more detail. If you don't feel like wading to GW, you can download the game directly by clicking  here (http://www.animeanonymous.com/stash/KCA2.rar) .

The game is 4.6 megs and shouldn't require the RTP or the editor installed.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Enjoy!

Too much RTP

There was a lot of RTP, but the game itself is damn good. You didnt have to make the first cave so hard though, that pass underneath is too hard to find. Nice use of movement events, but I wouldnt have gone through the extra trouble of making those poses for RTPs... but the game is still pretty good. Plus you could have used a better system for the PoV thing... maybe a CMS.

That's what makes it a "puzzle"... kinda. =)

The poses were relatively easy to make, and though not of particularly good quality I think it's easy to tell what each pose is supposed to be. That's the most important thing.

I'm done making CMSes. The original KC had lots of them and they're just too much work for what is essentially an unnecessary gimmick, especially where PoVs are concerned. That "menu" took about a minute to make, as opposed to several hours of coding an incomplete CMS (it would be incomplete by definition since, as of now, I have no idea how many PoVs there will be or which ones I will include or when you will get them). I took the time and effort I would have spent coding an unnecessary CMS and put it in other places of the game instead.

Thanks for the feedback. =)

If you're good at poses, why not take pose requests? It'd help alot of people out...

Welcome to Charas. I trust you didn't just come here to show off your game?

I'm not good at poses. That's kind of the point. They're effective, but not pretty. I trust most people would find my skill at editing charasets to be subpar.

Of course, if you find a use for the poses from KC in your own project, please feel free.

Actually I did. What else is there to do? ^_^

Thats the thing about CMS's, most of them are pretty easy to make.

I think I might do that. I just might steal your style of making poses too. Relativly simple.

You may be my new hero.

You see guys? You see?? It's not worth making a CMS or a CMBs or a custom anything if it interfers with your ability to actually produce a game!

Exactly! Btw, didn't you mean to say CBS?

Totally agree. Most of the "menus" in KC(A) are either map-based or forked ShowChoices, and they all work wonderfully.

Wow, dude, this game is just simply "wow". I haven't finished it, but it is great. Even with the RTP, I'd say this game has the best use of RTP.

Only one problem, I believe the monsters may be a little hard and the puzzles too for the first map. But really nothing big, the story, systems, puzzles, were pretty sweet. :D

Sweet game
 I have a question
How did you make the map of the road once you leave the town?
It kinda reminds me of mario

I'm not sure what map you're talking about. I can't think of anything Mario-ish in KC at all, really.

It is the part where you leave the first town and you follow the road to
the red tunnel
It is probably something everyone knows how to do but I am new here so I don't know how you made that part.
Is it a certain tileset?

It reminds me of mario because in the original maario games it showed
that kind of map when you beat a level and you move to the next

It's just a regular map. The tileset I used is in the chipset directory, if you want it.
