sorry i keep scrapping games... ill promise not to, seeing as this is my first rpgmakerxp game.
its an smmorpg (simulated massively multiplayer online role playing game)
the character (or in these cases your avatar and user name)
name: Yu-yong.
status: new comer to the online game of battle realms.
class: twin blade (rtp battle char... hes holding 2 blades)
Starting lvl: 1
where you can go in the universe of battle realms.
???: the only place that other users dont appear on... this is how you travel to the four available right away.
realm of royal: this is the least risky of the realms (also the only one going to be available in the demo).
the re-spawn point for when you/you and your party die is in a courtyard next to a fountain that is broken.
the non atacking npc's have many missions for you to do.
the users here that you can pay to join you range from level 1 to level 40.
the commoners of this place enjoy a little fight now and then.
you can find many wand wielder and warrior based skill teaching items here.
the most common monster type you will find are goblins.
monsters that may appear unexpectedly: goblin revenger, seraph and superhuman.
notice this doesnt have a plot.
because there is none.
bassically what you do is explore the realms to its fullest, hire the party you want out of 10 classes, ditch other users you dont want to allign with any more, enter arena's and test yourself against other users generated randomly, try to get 100% of the missions done and a whole crap load of other stuff.
i will be posting screens and answering any of your feedback.
now im tired... goodnight.
heres a screen of Yu-yong (in the full complete version you will be able to choose his job class and his name) about to allign with deathdealer - warrior - lv1.
-
not bad but how do u suppose to do it
-
really simply... why do you ask.
-
looks good. ive never seen an rmXP game before so it looks good.
-

to anser you more speciffically im going to use a hire to return system... where they turn transperant if they join your party, once you talk to them again there oppacity turns normal and you have to pay them to join your party again.
with the levels (im not going to instantly let you recruit a lv 100 person) you are going to have to lv up yu yong either the same lv or higher before they can be hired.
also it will state if your party is full causing you to have to return the character to where you found it if ovcourse you want to get rid of one.
see as i said... simple.
-
battle wise im going to have npc's that walk around some you will have to touch to fight, others will chase you down till you die or win.
if you die you teleport bact to the re-spawn point.
if you win a battle the npc that started the combat will drop dead onto the ground for a little bit of time before begins walking again. by use of swimple switch operations and other events.
by the way linkforce im using all rtp because i cant make my own sprites as smooth as these... so if some day you import it or whatever this game wont seem like much graphic wise, just gameplay wise.
heres a screen of a battle scene once you have joined up with deathdealer.
-
cool.
-
Great looking pics, just make sure you don't request graphics.
-
i dont have to... i like the rtp graphics for what im trying to make.
for now.
-
name: melony31
status: Spell caster nOOb for hire.
class: Wand Wielder
Starting lvl: 1
Starting tech: Dark channel (base spell for Wand wielder)
tips and hints: some doors need an unlocking spell that can only be used by wand wielders like melony31 when they find the right item that teaches them the spell.
-
you do know that if you use rtp, it will keep people away no matter how good the game is right?
-
but seriously... have you seen the tilesets ... there such good quality.
-
maybey in a year or so people will ALLLL hate the rmxp rtp
-
the problem with rpgxp u cant make world maps so you have to make it likkke ff10 where you just keep going forward in the world with no world map
-
lucky my game has no world map, only a hub and realms.
-
XD
try using that "edit post" button on the bottom of your post insted of posting 2-3 times in a row, when you can just add to your post.
Oh and the xp rtp, still look rtpish. i think so anyways.
-
okay I will remember that.
SO thats how you post multiple screen shots.
-
here are the concepts of my title screen
i will also be posting other screens aswell.
-
okay can someone tell me how to post multiple screens... that way i dont have to post in a row.
-
I dont know if thats possible, but host your images on http://www.photobucket.com and post them here by putting the html links.
Also, add stuff to your map, put life in them. A house and a tree isnt really apealing for players.
-
yeah im going to add in some eerie background sounds
and im going to have ghosts appear out of nowhere
i also caught the screen while they all wernt there.
and thatks for the program link.
-
the battle system of the game:
okay im going to talk to you about the diffuculty of my battle system using a zombie as an example.
say you encounter it at lv 1 to 9 it will have a high chance of using an attack and a low chance of using acid.
now at level 10 to 19 it will now be stronger being able to have more of a chance with acid and a good chance of using virus.
finnaly if your at lv 20 to 100 it will use renew cells (heals self) to span the battle on a little longer...
battles still dont get much easier because if you are by yourself... you can easily get killed by even the simplest of villagers (until you level up enough).
there are no random encounters, you either have to touch a monster npc, or be chased by it.
class skills: some users you recruit might have some skills to thier name... but there are 10 versions of each spell for a wand wielder, and many differant skills for the other classes, you can only find these by completing missions, finding them in hidden places or in the arena.
tell me on how i can improve with these 2 things.
-
i apologize for continuously posting... but sorry.
heres an improved screen from before... i think its better.
-
looks good kodakumi. ;) keep it up. :D
-
I look forward to a demo of this.
...mostly 'cause you've manage to make something GOOD out of RmXP. Kudos!
-
Well I ment, put some flowers or dead people in random places. It will make your game look less noobie.
And posting to put atachements dont matter if you double post. but try not to post 2 times if you can just add up your text. Thats what i ment.

why, are others bad ???
-
Not exactly. I just find RPG Maker XP much more restricting than 2k3, even if it has better graphics. I just tried to make something in it and only succeeded in stressing myself out. I love the look of RmXP games but can't use the program well. I look forward to you game.

actually you would be suprised how open ended the maker is...
the good things
1. can import jpeg images.
2. you can tint sprite sets.
3. much simpler to animate.
4. animations look better.
5. charging before casting like on ff series.
6. easy to layer things perfectly.
7. you can combine music with background sounds.
8. simple scripting for dumb people who happen to be fans of video games, like me.
9. easy to understand class design system.
10. simple to implement events (just need to get used to them)
11. more in depth tile set editor.
12. you can make your own battle transitions.
13. music makes the game better. (cant explain, just try importing a midi into it... you will see)
the not so good things
1. complicated needs for bacground music to turn off.
2. cant make monsters transperant (ghosts)
3. battle characters dont move which isnt necceceraly a bad thing.
4. events needed to change battle background (unless you want to rely on tileset back drops)
5. some songs/midi music you import can sound really bad.
-
But Rm2k3 can do about the same if not more with just a bit more work.
RmXP isn't for everbody. It's fine by me if you like it, the point I'm trying to make is that I'm impressed you can make good games with it because I certainly can't.
-
they all have there goods and bads
-
here are 10 classes, there are 20 class types, but i havn't gotten that far yet...
there descriptions:
Dagger blade: they wield 2 daggers, there way of fighting are slowly withering down an opponent.
Sword Blade: this games version of a warrior, they battle by heavilly relying on themselves and enhancing there own power before using the outcomes on the enemies.
Wand wielder: they can easily dispatch enemies with elemental weaknesses, they do this by charging up power, then they unleashing it on unsuspecting monsters.
Mace wielders: the white mage of the game, they have maces to hold but hardly make much use of them, they would prefer to heal friends and throw a few charms on the enemy.
Gummer: no not gunner, gummers are *unique* as they use many types and variations of attacks and skills, this class was band from battle realms because they knew an attack that could instantly kill an enemy or friend... the creator/ programmer of the game could not get rid off this glitch and erased the allowance of choosing this class so the only very few high levelled users have access to this class.
Claw blade: an all around class stat wise, there techniques involve drains and status skills.
Cerberus: a class that skills commit to diminishing an enemies mp and then making it easy for thier friends to destroy an enemies hp, a word of caution though, there spells may leave a dose of paralysis on the one who is helped.
Sender: people that feel like they dont want to use magic, can use prayers, this can greatly put the undead to rest and force other creatures of the horror movies to stand in thier place.
Refined Blade: it is rumoured that the premium accounts have access to some classes not available to free users, like yourself, look around and be prepared to pay an over the top price for hire.
Elagentist: there unarmed techniques are needed to be trained to give out there full potentials.
do you like some of these classes.

Very cool! I look forward to a demo!
Oh, and here's an idea: Sometimes, party members log off.

thank you,
the idea isnt bad, in fact its way more realistic.
but the bad thing is that i have no idea how im going to do that.
in other news:
i am going to make 40 skills for each class :jumpin: ... only for an excuse to make animations.
i will post an image of a cerberuses full move list chart... in an hour or 2.
-
Your going to make a new title screen i hope?

yeah, im no good at text writing... but i got koda kumi into the background.
-
hey, games lookin' good Kodakumi ^^
Let's hope tht yours turns out good, cos almost every RMXP game I've played sucked
-
why is that though??? i hope myne dont suck.
-
Most of them relied soely on the advanced graphics of RMXP, so really, there was nothing spectacular about the games....
in fact, I have yet to see ONE single RMXP game out there with a good storyline, maps and memorable events...
buuuut..... It looks like yours will be different , so , good luck :D
-
my game currently doesnt have a story line... i have to write a proper one (unlike my other attemps at games) that contains a lot of stuff in it.
its more of a storiless smmorpg... with a shitake load of stuff to do.
-
oh well, like .hack?
If so I like it lol :D
-
i suppose its sort of like that ( i played a bit of it )
i have no idea how to make the people log out and stuff... or cant be bothered to find out.
-
Make a paralel process that waits a certain amount of time then put a conditional branch. If they're in your party, they'll say something along the line of 'g2g bye'. The parales process will then flip a switch that will make him or her dissapear until next they log on.
-
so do i have to do that for every character... i already have quite alot aye... ill give it a go though thanks.
-
Well to make a good game, you have to show hard work.
Lazyness is not an option *sigh* I wish it was... :(

i have a social life to, maybey if i had the time , oh yeah... its saturday tomorow. :D
-
LOL!
I have NO social life. I only have a digital one.
Am I complaining? Sometimes... :)
But heck, I am starting a rpgmaker community, and I am planning to start on a game. So I have all the time I need to make both.
-
Due to the needed help im being helped with, by kardin who will be in my credits just for helping... the game will be put off for a few days.
-
it looks like a good idea, but the maps are empty.
-
yeah im still compiling the system and stuff... ill go into more detail later when i get the game back.
-
The game looks interesting and a nice idea. hopefully a demo will be done soon. One question though, will the RMXP script be used?
Either way, from the sound of it, it should be interesting.
-
Oh, I tought you would just leave the maps how they were XD
good god :)
-
okay... people can stop replying to this thread for now, because its been put on hold for a few days or so.
-
:(
-
For those wondering why it's on hold, it's partially because of myself. I'm working on a rather complex log/log off system for his characters, and due to my painfully busy schedule these days I may not be able to finish until friday if not later. :eyes:
-
Oh ok. Thats understandable. I hope you have the chance to finish it :)
