Hi,
My name is Tanaskarel.
I’m making a Harvest Moon game, Title: Returning To Nature,
and I was wandering if the fans or no fans of Harvest Moon could lend me a hand here.
Well I need to borrow some of your creativity.
For example:

How many girls/boys would you like to have the option to marry you?
What type of girl/boy would you like to see in this game?
Any festival you would like too see in the game?
Do you want to see any special moment? (Like in Harvest Moon 64 that when you get sick the girl you like go and take care of you?
What things would you like to see in this Harvest Moon?
Any good idea you want to share?

Things like that I will be glad to give you credit for your ideas and your help.

This is the title I will use in the game and the facets, they can be change just give your opinion about them.
And please don’t use them without my permission.

Please give your opinion.  :D

Festivals: Music Festival
Girls: Make some not ugly ones is all I can see. Also when they have babies... Let them be able to hvae more than one you know what i am saying looks good! Good Luck!

I know what you mean.
Is very frustrating to have only one child that don't grow up and that its always a boy. The thing that makes it more STRANGE is that it doesn't matter with who you marry your baby is the same, except in the Harvest Moon for GC.
I expect to do:
Different babies for each person you marry
the option about growing up I will have to think it


By the way if you think the boy/girl here aren't good enough tell me the ones you don't like I will make new ones and post theme here so you can see if those are betters.

I will put the music festival
and later tonight or tomorrow I will put a list of festivals
so you can tell me if those are good enough.

I'm a Harvest Moon fan but I hate fan games, go figure. Change the title, find something more original. I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread...

How many girls/boys would you like to have the option to marry you?: 5 females or so.

What type of girl/boy would you like to see in this game?: An artist. One that isn't in love with animals or bakery, lol

Any festival you would like to see in the game?: A worth-participating vegetable festival.

Do you want to see any special moment?: Something similar to the New Year's Eve on the Mountain like in Harvest Moon 64.

What things would you like to see in this Harvest Moon?: Stuff that haven't been done before...like new vegetables :D

K mixed feelings sorta sounds like the expansion to Playboy The Mansion lol. No offense i just don't see that one as a Harvest Moon style name. How about Horizon of Evolution lol?

Evolutions screen is the best, but Im not too sure about the name. Don't really have any suggestions for that, but..

Around 5-7 boys/girls availiable for marrage is a good number.

For festivals you have to have the big pot one where everyone brings an ingredient.

For girls you should have the regular ones, Karen... uhm... book girl... the other ones... I always married Karen, so I can't remember anymore.

Make sure that special moments happen through out the years, on the PS game one thing happened on my 7th year.

Well.
I hope that in one month ore less I can put a demo or something, I already have the maps with spring, summer, fall & winter. ^_^   Tonight I will post the festivals & some screen shoot of the town. I got to work now.
The only thing giving me lots of problems is making the timer act like I want.

Lets see about those titles, I will put some here, tell me if one of this are good enough.

1.   The beginning of a new life
2.   Building a dream
3.   Returning to the beginning
4.   Once upon a time
5.   New life

You can put some if you want.

I always did that too.

I suggest that their should be new vegetables and if you don't feed your dog it will die and you can have more tools than just a hammer, scythe, hoe, and a watering can. Also you could make it to where like you can get jobs to make money, an example is like deliver bread for the bakery or take care of a neighbors animals while they are out of town just an idea tho. Also I have always wanted to be able to visit other towns and get different stuff in that town or towns. Also make the hometown bigger........it has always been small. Oh, and for the title I like Harvest Moon: Evoloution or maybe Evoloution of Nature or Nature's Change or something.

Evolution of Nature

Nature's Change

About going to other towns, well I can make that, maybe even put one or two other characters to marry in that town and make them harder to get, but then the hometown must stay small because if not there will be so many character that the player won’t be able to visit them all.

About other jobs, that is fantastic I will put some jobs here later.
Yes I will try the thing about the dog, though I don’t promise, but I will try.

About new tools and new vegetables definitely, I will plenty of more vegetable and some new tools.

By the way I hope all the people who love Karen find attractive the one I put together. I always marry Maria (Mary), I just find her so cute ^_^

Well this are the festivals of Harvest Moon that I plan to conserve, I will add more later.

Spring Festivals

New Year's Day
This happens starting your second year. You gather at the Inn with all the adults, be careful not to drink too much! If you don't want to go drinking, go to the village square and dance the night away with your favorite gal!

Planting Festival
The first festival of the year is a time-honored is supposed to help farmers have a good growing year. All the townsfolk release balloons into the air when you give the signal. Each year a king is chosen at the Harvest Festival in Fall, and the king gets to go up in the balloon with a chosen assistant. The first year I believe is always the Potion Shop Owner.

Spring Thanksgiving-
On this festival you can make cookies and give them to the girls as a sort of payback for the chocolates they gave you at Thanksgiving

Cooking Festival
Here's your chance to show off some of the food you have been making! Bring something you cooked, and it's best if you use good quality food and make the recipe complicated!

Flower Festival
All the people get to vote for the Princess of the Flower Festiival during the week leading up to the festivities. Once the Princess is chosen, you'll be able to dance with the girl of your choice. Good advice is not to vote for the girl you like, she won't dance with you, but the king. But in your 2nd year if you aren't king and the girl you like is princess and has like a yellow or pink heart(or maybe any heart color or something), the king might ask to switch partners so you can dance with her!

Summer Festivals

Swimming Festival
This is also like the HM64 festival. Go to the beach to participate in a swimming race! This time you have to press a button to breathe! So every once in a while push the button to breathe.(square=swim, circle=breathe)

Vegetable Festival
Either take a vegetable to enter the contest at the annual Vegetable Festival or go empty-handed and serve as a judge. Like most festivals, your participation increases your standing in the community.

Firefly Festival
The Firefly Festival is another ancient tradition of the local people. It involves launching a flotilla of lit lanters onto the water down at the beach. You can buy a lantern from Rick's shop in the 2nd year if you give him Moonlight Stones found in the mines(during winter).

FireWorks-
Take the night off to go watch fireworks on the beach with your girlfriend. Go to the pier at 6:00 to watch them.

Fall

Music Festival
Go to the church to participate in this festival. The priest will come by the day before to ask you to play an instrument, accept to become more popular with the villages.

Cow Festival
Take your best adult cow to the festival to be judged against other top cows in the area. The cow that gives the finest quality milk is your best bet for the first prize. If you don't take a cow, you'll have to judge the entries. If you win, your cow produces special milk which is worth 500G! And if you win, leave your cow outside the day after, something may happen!

Harvest Festival
Bring a crop into the village square and join in making a soup! Throw your item into the pot and then eat up!

Harvest Festival
This is your chance to sample the produce and food from the rest of the town. Elli from the bakery will give you a cake. Be sure to take it, because there might be a coin inside the cake. If you get a coin, you will be next years King!

Moon-Viewing Festival
Go to the mountain summit on this day at 6:00 PM. The girl who likes you the most will probably be there, and you can spend the night watching the moon with her.

Sheep Festival
Bring your best sheep to this festival. If you win your sheep will produce golden wool which is worth a lot of money. To win just brush/talk/feed your sheep everyday!

Egg Festival
The Egg Festival is like a variation of the Easter Egg Hunt. The main event is an egg hunt in which the mayor shows a colored egg and the contestants try to find an identical egg somewhere in the village. See *Prizes to find out what you win!

Winter
Thanksgiving
The quaint custom for this holiday involves young farmers staying at home to greet a number of guests. In this case, the young ladies from town might bring by gifts of food(cake). When your special sweetheart comes by, you'd better be waiting.
Christmas Eve-
This holiday you can ask a girl at purple heart to have a party at her house. It starts at 6 P.M at their house.

Starry Night
This is a magical night best spent with you girlfriend. Three of the prospective mates--Marie, Ann, and Eli--- will be singing in the church. You'll be able to find Karen on the beach and Popuri in the woods.

Spirit Festival
If you bought the ocarina from Rick's shop, take it to the town square on the evening of the 27th and jam with Popuri and the owner of the bakery. The music is said to scare away mischievous ghosts.

New Year's Eve-
New Year's Day is one of celebration and fun. You've survived for an entire year, made new friends, built up the farm and made a life for yourself. This might be a good time to ask your favorite young lady to join you. Prepare for this festival by drinking a lot of beer, then you can outdrink everyone!

Call me old fashioned, but I always thought the title should have something to do with the game. If dreams are a focus, then "Land of Dreams" makes sense. If not, then you might want to figure out what makes your Harvest Moon game different, and think of a title based on that.

Well, land of dreams make sense to me, because that is the game. Harvest Moon is about making the dreams of the farmer come true in the land he just got.

Well I'm using a tutorial to make it. And it almost work, is just that I want it to start over when the farmer go to bed and I want it to count like real hours, one day will be like 1o or 15 minutes if my memory don't fail me I think I put it for 15 or 20. But I will decide the time when I figure out how much time it takes to walk the entire village. If I remember well, the pause when you enter to a house was working well. I will have to check it again.

Quezarlay I don't know If you already adressed this or somthing but, maybe you should be able to do more with your house because in Harvest moon ps1 upgrading your house is useless except for the bed for the wife :(

Well, there are 5 expansions to the house including the barn. These expansions include a kitchen, bathroom, more rooms, etc. Those expansions have a reason to be, like the kitchen, there you can cook, in the bathroom you can take a bath just for fun or to gain some stamina, ect. I didn’t put the expansion just to decorate ^_^. I very glad you ask for more use in the expansions, if any one would like something in the house just say it. Bu I have one problem, the chipset I’m using for the farmer house is very different from the one I’m using in the others house, is that ok? I will put some pictures so you can see the deference.

It will have all the girls and the boys from the original Harvest Moon game, even the people, I will add some new people and maybe new people to marry. The faceset of everyone are made by me with a faceset generator.
Please give some opinions about the inside maps, I want to know if it is ok to use maps so diferent.

I think the girls are good it keeps some of the harvest moon spirit.
The maps are good to. It doesnt matter your house is differnt from the others because.... You live on a farm and they live in a town.

How are you doing the crop system? Using one switch and allowing it to only be used once a day? I was thinking about it.

Well, the crop system is almost finish. ^_^
I have put in one event lots of vegetable and fruits,
there must be almost 13 or so, when you touch the event it will give some options like:

Spring:
(It depends on what seeds you have too)
Plant Tea flower
(After you plant it will tell you)
Water the plant.


I don't know if I will put an option to remove the plant after you plant it. Because when the season past, the seeds you plant disappear.

I was wandering, how long people prefer the season?
I was thinking about 15 days.

Well I was thinking about 5 minutes of real time, but I still don't know, I have to play one day and see how long it takes me to view and talk with the entire village. ^_^ I will work with that this days and I hope that for Wednesday I got it figure out.

Well, 15 it is, because I don't like seasons sooooo long! They get boring.

I really want it to be good, that is why I'm asking soooo many questions. But since a lot of people are asking for a Demo I'm really going to try to have one at the end of this month. But I don't promise anything yet.

You don't want to make the season TOO short. There are a lot of events that take up an entire day, but the core of the game is planting your crops, running around in the woods, and talking to girls. Maybe if you want to shorten the seasons, 20 days would be a good idea.

Wow. I love Harvest Moon and I hope you get it done soon. I was wondering if in the festivals you could make a sports festival. If it's to hard don't worry about it. But if you could do that it would be cool. Nothing big just like Soccer or for others Football. (The other way to say soccer.)

Hey garyrobinson1990, that was pretty cool of you ^_^ and the song isn't bad so I will use it and give you the credit.

About the miracle potion I still don't know about that I paralize ALL the things in the project 'till I finaly know what I'm doing wroooong in this timer.

People please if you know how to do timer that work like a normal clock, real one, PLEASEEEEE post here the codes so I can put them in the game and have the timer done for good or experiment wile I experiment too to get it done. If someone figure it out before me he or her will have the credit about it.

Hey, I found this tutorial on gaming w. Its about the timer and farming system. NOT MINE
Here I will teach you a farming system. I will also be teaching an accompanying Day/night system. First is the day/night system.

DIFFICULTY:1/5
SWITCHES:INSIDE BUILDING
VARIABLES:"Minutes", "hours", "days",(Optional)months, (Optional)Years
KNOWLEDGE REQCUIRED:
Basic knowledge of variables and forks
Basic Overall knowledge of rm2k/3

STEP 1:Creating the timer
Make a new parrallel process common event. Name it Day/Night System, no start condition.
Start by making a loop. Wait 6.0 seconds(To make the time go 10 times faster than in real life). Now increase the variable minutes by one. CODE:

Now make a fork to check if the variable minutes is equal to 60. On the branch case increase "Hours" by one and set minutes to zero. Within that make another fork to check for hours into days where you check if the variable hours is equal to 24. CODE:

Make a new common event, call. FIRST place a fork to check if the switch Inside Building is OFF. This will ensure that it will not be dark in a lighted house at night. Within that make another fork to check if the variable hours is 0. In the branch case have it tint screen almost completely dark. Continue this for the rest of the hours. CODE:

Tint screen xxx red, xxx blue, xxx yellow, xxx magenta
NOTE:X is the corresponding number you want.

FARMING SYSTEM

SWITCHES:Crop 1 start, crop 2 start, etc.
VARIABLES:Days left(1 copy for each crop), all the previously mentioned variables from the day/night system, one variable for each crop that stores the amount of seeds.

STEP 1:PLANTING CROPS
Make a common event named Plant crops. It should be a call event. Have it ask which crop to plant(We will do two in this tutorial for simplicity but you can add more). In the first one, say, "Apple" make it check if the variable that stores the apple seeds, "Apple seeds", is one or more. If it is remove one. Now set the variable days left for apple to 3. Turn on the switch crop one start. Make a new common event, call. Check if the switch crop 1 start is on and if yes also check if the variable days left is 0. In that yes case play a success sound and show a success message. Give your character the item and turn off the crop start message.

STEP 2:EDITING THE DAY/NIGHT SYSTEM TO IMPLEMENT THIS
In the day/night system after increasing day check if the switch crop 1 start is on. In the yes case lower the variable days left by 1 then find a way to shut it off using a switch.

NOTE:Sorry but I can't add code as I am leaving for dinner soon.

You can use the months/years part to change how the growing system works and this is easily be customized.

Well I got:

I got mos ofo it writen in work
and the beguinin
I have like 3 diferen beguinings but I can't dicide what should I shose.
The thing that I'm proud of is the crop sistems. ^_^

Ok people in the guide will we be looking into a date system to give your game that real-time feeling. Once again it uses the standard wait and fork condition but you are going to need my Day/night system added in your game I’ve supplied an updated version with this guide:

DAY

In common events name one of the events Day make the event start condition parallel process and appear in event day. Then make the events commands wait 60.0s and a variable that is called day (again) and make it + 1 do this by click on the + sign and make the set 1. Then make a fork condition then make it set as variable Day then at the set button set it to 7000 and make it above. Next set the screen tone as R070, G090, B070, S090 (Or whatever you want) you make a message here if you want but only if you want. Now go to change variable and set day to 0 then turn day switch off and evening switch on. Ok if you didn’t get that this is what the screen should look like:

There you have it all you have to do is in your o9pening event put the switch Day on or what time you want your game to start. The Day night guide has been change so that it gives a scale of 1 min in real time is 1 hour in game time the scale is the same as my clock system. Also people please make sure you add this to the night event a variable that add 1 to variable days the night section should now look like this:

This now means that the game has a way of adding the date information. Now find a empty slot in your common events and call it ‘Jan’ make this a parallel progress and make it work in a switch called ‘Jan days’. In the event commands you need to add a fork condition for variable 0023:Days and set to 32 above just trust me on the 32 ok. You now need a to set the variable 23 back to 1 and then add a variable 0024:Month and add 1 to it. You can add a message here like " The month is February \v[21]" (variable 21 will be used later on) the reason I have said February is because it will be moving on to the month of February shortly. Finally you need to turn off switch ‘Jan days’ and turn on switch ‘Feb days’ this is what the event should look like:

Use another slot in common events and once again parallel progress and starts in switch ‘Feb days’ and make events commands similar to the last one by having a fork condition but this time set it 29 days but still set to above. You need the same switches here as before, which are 23:Days set to 1 and 24:Months plus 1. If you want you can add that a message again but this time it will be "The month is March \v[21]". Now all you have to add is turn switch ‘Feb’ off and turn switch ‘Mar’ on once again check if yours looks like the one below:

March in the next slot call it ‘March’ and again in parallel progress and make it work in switch ‘mar days’ this time the fork condition should be set to 32 again and once again 23:Days set to 1 and 24:Month plus 1. Then a message if you want one "The month is April \v[21]". Then add the switch to do this ‘mar days’ off and ‘ April days’ on. The code should look like this:

You should know how this work now just follow these rules:

The Fork condition should be one day above the amount of days in the month e.g. April has 30 days so in your fork condition it will be set to 31
The message should state the month it is jumping to not the one you are coding
Make sure you turn off the month you are currently on and turn on the next month you are jumping to
The only month that will be different will be December this month will look like this:

That is where the variable 21 comes into play from all those messages you added.

But now your thinking I’ve done all this coding for what to tell the gamier that the month has change well not if you add this ‘Data stone’ in your game. Find another empty slot in the common events and call it ‘Date stone’ make it a parallel progress and make it start in switch ‘Date’. Now inside the events commands add a message that says " The Date is \v[23] - \v[24] - \v[21]" this will say the day, month and year in number form e.g. "The Date is 3-4-2001" after this add a thing to turn off the switch ‘date’. You may now be thinking how do I access this event well if you have read my magical item guide you won’t but if you haven’t here is how. Go to the items tabs and find a empty slot and called it ‘Date stone’ have the classification set to switch and the number of times it can be used to limitless. The explanation can be like this "See what the date is" and finally set the ON Switch to ‘Date’ and that it.

Now all you have to do is add this to your intro:

Add/Remove Item.Date stone-> 1Incr

Change Switch:[0030:mar days] ON

Change Switch:[0003:day] ON

Variable Ch:[0021:year] set, 2001

Variable Ch:[0023:month] set,3

And that should do remember you don’t have to call the months the same as are own you can make them up and the number of days there are in that month also there is no leap year in this system maybe one day I will but maybe I won’t. That's what I would say if I was another person who hates them. I have read this thread and it looks really interesting. Keep up the good work.

(Note: With short seasons, not many crops can be get, but with long seasons, game advances slowly and you have to wait a lot for some events. Really weird, isn't it? :hi:

Sorry for posting again. I thought on an idea after posting. This archive have some useful tutorials(3 about time). I don't know if they have the part of changing seasons, but I think that the variables should do that work. I'm not good with variables, so I can't post a possible option(sorry). If anyone else can, try it.
