Title: New Rpg maker in Develoepment. R.E.M
Post by: Sion Suncrest on June 11, 2005, 09:59:31 AM
Intro - After Looking at SEER and seeing as it wasnt going anywhere and the impact it had on the members me and my team are making a maker that will have pretty uch all that good stuff and if i forget the features you guys put here then its best u tell me... on my forums... I also did it as a tribute to Grandragora.. So here it is...

Me and the rest of the Createamation team are creating an Rpg engine that should easily surpass Rpg maker with ease. but we are in need of artists, musicians , and VB programmers...

The maker will include the following.

All the features in REM

- Ability to choose if battles are turn based, or are Tactical.

- Character maker inside the program along with objects and maker.

- Allowing to play movies

- Faceset maker

- Extra poses for characters, like Paper dolls. And such.

- A full RTP of resources to use!

joining staff will give you the full version. this comes with a free 15 day trial and afterwords a pending 15 dollars will be required to own the full version. ( or not... maybe... ^_^ )

WEBSITE - *****************
Screenshots on board. And more will be added as we get more people to help.

Cool Zidane thoes are very, very good! Join the forums if you havent and show everyone these! I think ur in.. But you have to join the boards...

For the sprites on the boards you have to speak to Kosei on it.. He knows eerything about the sprite division...

I can help with the programming and I'll be glad to, but are you sure that VB is the best one to use? That thing has limits.

Link removed. No advertising; instead say the link to your website is in your homepage icon.

Sounds like a really good idea.

Where the hell do you draw the line? You don't have to delete every single thing with a www before it. I can understand if someone says "come to my site" but this is completly different; it is NOT advertising. If something is informative and helpful, and relevent to the thread in an important way, it dosent need to be deleted. It's easier to post a link in the thread than have people to click on your icon thing. Also, it's less of a hassle. Just pointing that out.

It's a form of advertising. Point dead.

And I am deleting a link not a thread, stop whining.
Simply use the homepage button.

I agree with Asakura on this.

Not me, Alex may have said we need loop-holes, and it's completly true, but that's too blunt and stupid to just say "it's okay, I can post my site as long as I'm not telling people to go there." and this isn't your concern and this isn't the place, so get back on topic.

Post by: smokey_locs2002 on June 12, 2005, 04:16:37 AM
Yes yes Ghost has a point. IN fact Ill tell you some loop holes.

Guy 1: "Hey guys i just heard about a new nice chip set of FF7 for RPG maker 2003, do you guy know where I can get it" ?

Guy2: (Hmm if i host that Chip set on my site and give him a link it's not advertising, HAHAHAHAAHHAH)
"Umm yes, here's the link to it this site has other things too.."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guy1: "Hey guys, I heard of a site that has a chipset gen do you know where i can get it? "

Guy2:" Well the link to the official site is on this website here you can pull it off of there"  www.Guy's1homePage.net

Yeah.....

You people are getting off-topic.

Anyways, IF you do finish it, I will use it for a game.

That my friend is the shittiest argument I've seen in ages. No offense.

Know where to draw a line. Other sites have the same thing. Website is okay, as long as it isn't the main issue. This site is too strict. Too isn't good.

Thats all? *scratches head* Why not support for other battle systems, entity based scripting engine like the current uprising freeware RPG makers? This may sound all good and dandy for beginners who don't want to do much but I would like to see a more modifyable, not more user friendly, RPG Maker.

As it sounds so far it's a bit too limited.

Suggested:

-Perspectives in turn based mode.
-Combination for tactical, example: Fire Emblem.
-Modifyable AI for enemies, for beginners a built in tool, for experts a command language with ifs and such for situation types and timing.
-A text script for expert users that can modify most aspects of the game including monsters and objects.

Look up the freeware maker called Open Legends, it's AIM is more to today's freeware game maker's needs, it can be expanded and supports many module music formats (They are smaller than MP3s but sound alright)

I am sorry Darkfox, but I don't think there is anyone who will or has signed up to work on this project with the drive to truly make it stand out from other makers. I think, taking it on your behalf to "continue" what Grandragora was unable to finish is a little insulting. Unless you get the means to actually do it.

Post by: shinotebasiiackh on June 14, 2005, 01:56:11 AM
Maybe that's why he made the topic in the first place, DF.

Suggestions help a lot, ye?
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on June 14, 2005, 01:59:59 AM
Unfortunately Drenrin, you are mistaken. It's sad so many never heard of the work put into Open Legends, and they work pretty fast, so what I suggest is very much doable. It just would require a bit of research.

Well, I guess my outlook on the members of this forum is turning a little bleak... :|
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on June 14, 2005, 02:06:07 AM
You are overeacting. It's just that there needs to be a time that the mold is broken from the standard and to the new, and the new isn't as hard as it sounds, at least thats what the guys on Open Zelda (Now Open Legends) gave the impressions on. In any case they were suggestions, not orders.
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on June 14, 2005, 02:09:44 AM
well, I didn't think that was overacting, just saying the truth. But you know more than I do about all that stuff, so I shouldn't be talking. lol :D
Title:
Post by: Sion Suncrest on June 14, 2005, 02:11:55 AM
Sorry for taking so long to reply, Thanks for the the features you listed Dark Fox, I'll give them to Zodia now. The thing is, we need more memebrs on the forums to give us more stuff to put in the engine. We cant come up with that much stuff. So were here...
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on June 14, 2005, 02:14:51 AM
Meh, you felt like I was being rude. I was just suggesting stuff I've seen done with efforts on Sourceforge. I'm sure if Sion doesn't know what I'm talking about he can find sombody that does. I've spent a little time with developpers. It really shouldn't be so hard if a single guy could do it (Referring to Taxman's Retro-Sonic)

Btw, what will the angles be? 360 degree, 4 way or 8 way? I believe 360 is also known as pixel somthing, it's like what was used for Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Title:
Post by: Sion Suncrest on June 14, 2005, 02:36:37 AM
It'll be 4 way. If anyone else has suggestions that should go into the game please tell us on the boards It saves me from running around to all the boards.  ;)
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on June 14, 2005, 02:53:56 AM
4 way? Awww... :( I was hoping the pixel whatchamacallit that most non-3D RPGs (Nice Example: Zelda: The Minish Cap or this fun action/tactical RPG I played on GBA that had a hard to pronounce title) use nowadays, but if it's too hard, allright. I don't know much about it. 4 way just feels so restricting nowadays. Then again these are just beta stages, I guess it can be dealt with along the lines.

In the tactical/strategy mode, will it be like Fire Emblem style where you see the characters fight close up or just you see the tiny guys hit each other in obscuriy? Oh and are monsters animated? I've heard people argue about that on RM2K.

Quote
go into the game

Don't you mean maker?

Correction: 8 direction is the most common today. Pixel movement (or 2 pixel) is the current movement system as seen in A Link to the Past and others who's names I cannot think of at this moment.
Title:
Post by: Sion Suncrest on June 14, 2005, 04:13:20 AM
Yeah, the monsters will be animated, for tactical it still hasnt been decided yet. We are thinking of adding a battle system like Zelda.. and i geuss that stuff you wanted could be implemented for that kind of battle system we'll see....  :jumpin:
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on June 14, 2005, 04:18:45 AM
It wasn't just Zelda but also games with random battles and an overworld had that kind of movement... for all I know I might be making an understatement XD

Oh I see.... Very Intresting Darkfox... Yuor our goldmine of features eh... your the first person to give good features if any.. ^_^
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on June 14, 2005, 04:42:57 AM
XD When I'm not here I'm floating around the net for this kind of stuff, and test playing games. The saddest things I see is when developpers give up or don't really put effort into the project, it's in a way an artform, know what I mean?
Title:
Post by: Sion Suncrest on June 14, 2005, 05:06:25 AM
I see that alot too.... ITs kind of dissapointing... Hopefully REM will be enough to make everyone happy... :D

This sounds like a good idea... Tactical style rpgs are so difficult with rm2k3...

I would gladly help out, if:

1. I wasn't busy trying to learn Visual Basic for Charas.EX;
2. I already knew Visual Basic in the first place;
3. I didn't have Charas.EX v3 as one of the projects.

I agree with both. Mode 7 would be cool for Secret of Mana like gameplay elements, and extending DLLs would just make the game even bigger and hopefully better.

Also, when I'm back at programming stuff, I'll be supporting resources for this RPG Maker in Charas.EX v3.

is vb visual basic? or is it just that (vb)?

sorry for the stupid question.
Title:

VB is to Visual Basic as HTML is to HyperText Markup Language.

So, yes, it's the same thing.
