Title: I just though you all should see it...
Post by: Almeidaboo on June 15, 2005, 06:02:20 PM
Well, thi´s an powerpoint presentation that I´d like you guys to see. It´s a Petition for peace. Plus, in the end, it asks us to distribute this and tranlate it to a bunch of languages, so the more people will see it and so on...Well, i´d be really glad if anyone offered to help.

Thanks a lot.

Peace huh? Sounds all fine and dandy on paper, but it's never gonna happen. No matter how many videos, petitions, powerpoints, it's an impossibility. As long as there are religions, governments, hell, even different opinions over whether Skittles are better than M&M's, it's not gonna happen.

Nice try at it though.

It doesn't hurt to actually try and make a stand though..
I agree that it's not very possible, but there's no need to shoot others down that are trying to have a positive outlook and better things.

And skittle are better than M&Ms by a long shot.. >_>..

Well duh

I'm not trying to shoot him down, but if people work toward possible things, instead of impossible things alot more would get done, for if we solve solvable problems, that equals less big problems, which equals more effort toward one big goal instead of everyone working toward different stuff.

Ex. If we put the money that we put into AIDS research into cancer research, we'd probably have a cancer cure by now, because let's face it folks, AIDS is bad, but when it's constantly evolving, becoming immune to vaccines that would have worked a year ago it's truly a waste of money for now. But if we cure cancer, than money that would have gone to cancer in the past no longer has to, and could go towards AIDS.

Religions are the bigger cause of wars, aren't they? So we should all follow the same religion. Though I forgot what it was called.'

And skittles suck, MMs are always better.

One of the worst pieces of advice I've heard in a while. Seriously. A case classified as "Over Simplification"

i thought the powerpoint was great! it had a really profound meaning to it. heck, ive already sent it to everyone i know!

We should all eliminate the white people. We all know the white man is so horrible.  _sweat_

Or we should just destroy religion, like China tried to do. They're officially atheist, though they allow some religion under strict supervision, or so I read.

Whataya, the vulpine priest?

If everyone DID follow the same religion, would there be holy wars? No. Would people spontaneously combust? Yes. But only as common as before.

BUT you think people WILL follow the same religion? The idea was too simplistic, it took a big problem and tried to solve it with a weak solution. There is no IFs, the human factor kills the whole idea right off the bat.

It was great but...

1. Many of the pictures didn't really have anything to do with war but poverty in general. Maybe some WW2 pictures or pictures from the isreal-palestine conflict?

2. At the beginning of the slideshow the three pictures after "Why do we want peace?" all show WTC at 11/9. That look really american (In the bad way). Not only americans are suffering from war and strife.

Else it's well made. Too many effects usually makes slideshows look unserious and I think your using a good amount of effects/sounds.

I couldn't download it for inexplicable reasons, but I'll discuss...

Firstly, war will always happen, as others have said. No-one willing to kill thousands of people is going to respond to a powerpoint presentation. Although I applaud the effort, and if everyone thought like you, maybe there would be peace.

Secondly, Skittles>M&Ms.

Yeah, exacly my thoughts when I got that by email...But I think it´s really to shock people, not show just war and stuff...There´s a lot going on besides war. I just though it would be nice to distribute it, even though the possibility of being a great deal is so low (specially cuz ppl prefer discussing over M&M and Skittles...).

Darkfox: I never said everyone would, we all know that that's impossible, Germaine the tap-dancing Gerbil could tell you that.

If everyone did, which is why I said should there wouldn't be holy wars.

skittles are disgusting little wannabe fruits.
MM pwnzors skittles.

In fact skittles suck so much I refuse to capitilse. :s
