Title: Ghosthunter
Post by: Moosetroop11 on June 26, 2005, 11:26:07 AM
Ages ago, I got Gamemaker. I was mucking about with it for ages before I managed to produce the simplest things.

Anyway, I was getting bored of SHOTGUN, and I opened gamemaker, and there it was: My greatest gamemaker success, which I'd almost forgotten about.

It's called 'Ghosthunter', and basically it's an extremely simple scrolling shooter. I found the monsters from some example pack I found on the gamemaker site, and alot of it is limited by my utter lack of coding knowledge and the fact that I had next to no resources. It's got a 'classic' mode where you're just trying to get as high a score as possible, and a 'story mode' which has levels and some sort of vague plot.

Features:
#1: 2 weapons at the moment (press the number keys to switch between them) which you have by default in the classic mode, and gain during the story mode
#2: 3 different monsters, two bosses
#3: At certain points people figh alongside you!

There's enough here to give out a demo to anyone who's interested and has Gamemaker. Just post here if you want to beta test it, and I'll E-mail it to you. (THAT MEANS YOU GARY CK! I NEED YOUR GAMEMAKER WISDOM!)

Argh. YOur custom sprites made me laugh. It's not so much as they are plain it's just they were funny lookin. The game itself was okay. It flowed through pretty smoothly. I didn't like the partner. He didn't help at all and just went off on his own to the side.

RATINGS:

custom graphics: 3/10
music:                  7/10
overall gameplay:5/10

okay test done.

Much what I was expecting. Oh well, It's a work in progress, after all.

My main problem is that I can't do boss HP right. I had to make it so that you forced the boss onto the fire. I tried the boss HP coding but it didn't turn out very well...

Did you find any bugs? Other than Kent dissapearing off the screen, that is...

alright on sunnytown boss there is a horrible lag.
still on sunnytown boss if you go to the left to far and try to go back on screen it won't let you unless you push left. then you can go on the screen. Other than that I find it ok.
