Title: The 1-minut post thingy
Post by: Drace on July 01, 2005, 06:27:16 AM
Is it ever going away? It's so fricking irritating. Or can it be reduced to halve a minut?

I agree with the half-minute thing. I mostly am a quick reader, I can read a topic in about a half minute or so, mostly because most topics have two or less posts.

I agree.

I agree. I always have to wait to reply to a topic, and it's just so irrating, just as you said. Alex could get rid of it, right?

Why we have it in first place?

Post by: mind-master: brain(mmb) on July 01, 2005, 05:27:14 PM
well, how about that it goes per topic to wait 30 seconds,
so i post in the ''charas pub is back''
and then i dont have to wait to post in a different topic...

Well, it's never effected me. Because before I was a mod it was never even around. And it's called flood control. It's only there because of idiots who like to spam the forum.

EDIT:
And if you want it reduced, I would suggest PM'ing Alex, not making a thread about it.

but this way everyont in favour can state that they want it gone, i kidna find it irratating, and happens alot in posting in one topic then in the other having to wait and such, yeh, annoying

I don't think it's such a big deal, but it barely affects me since I've only encountered having to wait several times or so anyway.

It's not like you guys want to make a dozen posts in a minute or something.. >_>..

Overall, I have no problem with its current standing at a minute.

It's frustrated me before. Like I'll find a topic, know what I wanna type and when I can I forget what I was gonna write.

Indeed, but no offense to him; Alex doesn't really browse the forums that much.

It IS like that. I read 3-4 threads instead of one, I aways do that,, but then I can't post in both, 'cause the rule sais I can't.

O-M-G.. you guys are just oh so eager to post eh?

Flood control is basic thing on members with a lot of members. I say it's ok; especially for this forum, where most members get post crazy.

Most forums have a system that determines if you're a cool guy than the time between posts is lessened.  It only bothers me sometimes when I'm reading a few threads at once.

I;m ala6ys reading a few at once. Its really irritating to me.

They made the rule after I spammed the forums with a crapload of threads by hitting reply-back-reply-back over and over. Without it, the same thing could happen again, and with someone who wouldn't stop after around 30 spam threads.

I don't even think it's a full minute, because, when I do get it, I wait around 10 or 20 seconds and refresh the page and it lets me reply. Seems more like half a minute. *shrug*

i dont think alex can change this cause i think the person who did the PUB has to change it......

cause if alex could change this, wouldent he took the gun smileys away long time ago?but yet its still there so i think   Steven Rombauts  has to change it or whoever installed the PUB

So this is were it went. I never check this place. Anyhoe, like most have said. I'm to a quick reader/poster and sometimes forget because I must wait so long.

No, I'm pretty sure it's a feature within the Admin panel.

Even if it was direct in the code, Alex could change it. First, he has access to the actual PHP scripts since he owns the site. Second, he knows a good amount of PHP if he could've made the generators with it.

why is the gun smileys still here?
Title:
Post by: Osmose on July 04, 2005, 03:09:39 PM
Because it's totally ridiculous that idiots run around telling off people who use gun smilies, and if you're so anal about it that you want them removed because they bother you when you look at them so much, then you deserve the discomfort you recieve from laying your eyes on them.

Actually, you only told half of the story.

Most people who post gun smilies do it like this:

U GIMME SPRITE NOW!

OR ELSE!

Actually I'm pretty sure it's only 'bout 20 seconds since it doesn't take more time for me either. So it doesn't really affect me but I don't think it helps that much, I've only seen someone using the reply/back/reply/back tecnique like once or twice. But I'd say keep it.

On the gunsmiley issue it doesn't really affect me either. It's just smilies. But still I think three different gun smilies are a lil much.

That's true, but I've used just about every forum software out there, and they all have a feature to which you can customize the time on flood control.. Although.. PUB IS pretty old.  :|
