Title: Castlevania
Post by: coasterkrazy on July 24, 2005, 04:27:58 AM
Castlevania is one of my favorite game series' of all time. My favorite of all of them is Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse for the nes. I especially like the soundtrack of that one, which still sometimes gets stuck in my head. I've been playing it since I was very little and still play it sometimes today. My favorite of the adventure style Castlevania titles is Aria of Sorrow, which I wish could've given me just a bit more to do (I already got 100% of everything). So, what do all of you other charas members out there think about the series?

Yeah, I like the nes ones the best, though the adventure style ones are cool too. I think Symphony of the Night was a bit overrated though.

Saying that it was overrated is overrated. It was a great game and saying it wasn't as good as the hype doesn't make you sound smarter.

*clings to SOTN*

Don't get me wrong. I thought it was a great game. It's just that some of the things I had heard about it before playing it probably made me expect too much.

Midnight, it's probably SotN that you are talking about.

I have all 3 on GBA, Aria of Sorrow's my favorite, even though it was a bit short.  Circle of the Moon was bleh, and the other GBA one (forget the name) is so friggin hard and annoying... I'm somewhere in the middle of the game, with no clue what to do next.  FAQ's don't help, so don't tell me to go look at one  ;)

I can't wait for Aria of Sorrow II on the DS.

Harmony of Dissonance is the other one on GBA. That's the one I don't have. I liked Circle of the Moon, but gamespot rated it 9.6/10, while only giving Aria of Sorrow 8.6. If anything, I would reverse those 2 scores. Sometimes, gamespot reviews can be too much opinion and not enough looking at the game. But that's off topic.

Yeah, Aria of Sorrow was my favorite too and I'm also looking forward to Dawn of Sorrow for DS. This will be the first time there is a true sequal to a Castlevania game! :) At least to my knowledge.

Actually, all of the Castlevanias fit into a timeline - hence why all of the vampire hunters are from the Belmont family.

http://www.classicgaming.com/castlevania/storyline.html is a good summation.
