Title: Tutorial: MP3 in RPG Maker 2003
Post by: ELMIND on August 07, 2005, 04:05:29 AM
Well, this tuto is usefull to make games with a MP3 instead of WAV or MIDI.

Here goes what you will need:
*A music or sound in WAV.
*Jet Audio or other audio converter (I used Jet Audio in this tuorial)

1st: Enter in Jet Audio and click in Conversion.
2nd: add the file(s), BUT DON'T START THE CONVERSION YET!!!
3rd: Right below, in Output Format, change it to mp3-MPEG layer 3.
4th: Click in the button at its right side (Config...).
5th: Change the Channel to Mono and change the CBR (Constant Bitrate) to 96kbps (if it is just a sound) or to 160kbps (if it is music).
6th: Now you should start the conversion, and... Done! Now you just need to import into RPG Maker 2k3 and it will work! And you will not need any "patch-that-damages-the-game-and-smashes-your-database"!

It's not the writer's fault that MP3's are big files, imbecile.

This should be stickied. It's simple, but still answers a question that newbies are likely to be asking for... Well, ever.

Yeah, MP3 are big files. But is, sometimes, better than MIDIs. And the main reason that I made this tutorial is that I tried a MP3 that came with a game and a ordinary MP3 music, and the one that came with the game was Mono and was a 160kbps. Then I asked to my old brother how I could convert in the lowest quality and don't damage the music. And this tutorial includes the procedure that I tried.
