I know this is just a simple screenshot, but I just really like the way this turned out and wanted to show you all. A couple days ago Inquisitor released a world map tileset that he made. It's so awesome, but it's for rmxp. :( But, I managed to make it work with rm2k3, and also did a heavy heavy edit on the houses on the tileset and made Ace's hometown in the game, Shurmer. Basically I made all of the houses myself, the only thing that's an edit is the rooves on them, which is a color edit. So yeah, here it is. The future of world maps, seeing a smaller version of the exact town/building that you're about to enter.

thats great man :D

That's alot better then having those tiny town-type things in ussual world maps... this makes it feel more like a custom set. Great job Ace.
-
That's great, but it'll take up much more space on the world map.

Well, it IS called a world map. So it kind of makes it fit the title. And thanks by the way. ^^

That's awesome Ace! ^_^
It's certainly different to see the whole town instead.
I agree with MooseTroop on the size thing, but that shouldn't really pose any major problems.
-
i like that alot its really good! and yeah so what if it takes up more space just make the whole map bigger!!
-
Awsome.

That looks really nice. Can you please post your edited chipset so that I can use it?
-
Wow, I'm impressed. And to think, I was gonna give up on world maps.

Grr...NO! It's mine, not 'yos! *hoards chipset* j/k Well, I'm not totally done putting the stuff on it, but when I'm done I'll post it. But just so you know, I'm not going to include any type of town on it, because you have to do that yourself seeing as you're making a smaller version of a town that's already in your game.
-
Looks awesome!
But wouldn't it be difficult to do that with every single town in the game, and dungeons too?
-
Hehe, nice :) What about when you get to the huge towns with hundreds of houses?
I just downloaded the rmxp version a few minutes ago.

o_O Well... I don't plan on having 100 houses in any town, so that won't be a problem. But to answer your question FFL, you wouldn't really have to show every dungeon, just whatever their outside is. So if it's a tower, you make a tower. If it's in a cave, then you really don't have to do anything but put a cave opening. But since I can't fit all the towns on one tileset (obviously) I'll either have to make it a charset, or hopefully the idea I'm trying out now will work, because charsets will be a real pain. >_<
-
LOL. I bet it would be. >_< OH NO!!! CHARAS EVERYWHERE! :o
-
I suppose it's alright.
-
Wow! That's really good! :)

I must say, I cant wait to see that chipset.

It's a cool concept, but having a house be the same size as a section of mountains looks downright silly. You'd have to either A) modify the chipset considerably to make the mountains and forests look a lot larger or b) greatly shrink the size of the town on the world map while keeping the same layout.
Either way would take a lot of work, and I know that's completly not what you want to hear, but as is it's just a cool idea that doesn't look implimented right.
-
Its cool, but I dont think its the future of maps. It would take too much time..for such small details. And its the world ap too. Its just used to get from place to place really.
-
Well, it's only good for rmxp, unless you want to make a charset for every last town. So yeah, that's a big pain in the *** and I'm not using this concept anymore. Guess I wasted my time. Oh well.

Looks kinda weird. Everything except the houses looks great. But, it kinda gives me a Zelda feeling when I look at it. I don't know why.

nice, that looks nice!
