Well, you are kinda right.

Red Dwarf is about the last human, Lister. He tries to make his way back to Earth. The only problem is, the ship is 3 million years away from Earth. Lister's only companions are a life-form evolved from his cat, a hologram of his dead bunkmate Arnold Judas Rimmer, a computer with an IQ of 6000 and from season 3 an android named Kryten. It's kinda a funny version of Star Trek and most highly worth your time. I place is on number two of time-killing. Under sex of course XD

1. Family Guy
2. Simpsons (wow I'm finally at the point where I think I like family guy more)
3. That 70's show - the roller disco episode was awesome!
4. Seinfeld
5. Futurama
Title:

Like Razor said, South Park, Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, King of the Hill and all other cartoons are just that. Cartoons, not sitcoms.
Title:
Post by: coasterkrazy on August 16, 2005, 06:27:07 PM
Oh, I must've missed that post. Yeah, earlier I was thinking the same thing, but when I saw a bunch of people posting them, I thought they were eligible. Well, then, here's my revised list:
1) That 70's Show
2) Seinfeld

Those are the only two I've really ever watched. I've seen Friends and didn't like it too much (yeah, yeah, hard to believe, huh?). I saw Raymond once - it was ok. I can't really think of many....

Besides, those cartoons pwn the other shows! XP
Title:

Red dwarf (earlier episodes), Fresh prince of bel-air, and the simpsons

Allen can't help but wonder why people are confusing cartoons with sitcoms.. o_o;
I'm pretty certain that they are not.. unless I'm in some sort of bizarro world and they so happen to be..

It'd be like me calling Ed, Edd and Eddy an Anime..
They're totally different things really.

Anyway, Seinfeld is probably the best sitcom that's still televised today.
I wish News Radio would be played however..
Title:
Post by: oooog on August 16, 2005, 08:14:23 PM
I looked it up on a site, and found out, shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. are actually sitcoms.  I can post the site if you guys want.
Title:
Post by: Al~Len on August 16, 2005, 08:17:44 PM
I believe sitcoms fall into catagories such as Action Comedy, Domestic Comedy and Dramatic Comedy.. and I've never heard of cartoons falling into the field of a Situation Comedy really o_o.. *shrugs*

I guess you could call a cartoon a sitcom.. it just doesn't seem correct to me though.

Edit: I looked into it a bit more.. and  The Simpsons was considered a Sitcom..
still very.. odd in my opinion..
Title:
Post by: oooog on August 16, 2005, 08:22:16 PM
JUst because I was bored yesterday. I typed in "sitcom" in the Google search, and I clicked on the 1st or 2nd site (don't remember.).  On this site, it has information about different sitcoms.  I somehow wound up at a "sitcom theme song" section on the site, and listed I saw Seinfeld, Friends, That 70's Show of course, but I also saw Family Guy and the Simpsons.

I prefer the Starbug episodes of Red Dwarf myself. But that episode with the four horsmen of the Apocolypse Episode was the best ever (when the virus was in the AR machine) **Falls over laughing**
Title:
Post by: blackskullwarlock on August 16, 2005, 08:40:00 PM
Alright then, no cartoons, just sitcoms. You probably don't know the 3 following:

-Radio Enfer
-Dans une Galaxie Près de Chez Vous
-Une Grenade avec Ça?

If you know any of those, good for you.

My favourite episodes of Red Dwarf are from Season 1 through 6 + the first of 7(The one with the JFK killed himself theory, XD)

Thanks for repeating that post Drace. Too bad almost directly after two people just post cartoons anyway.

Besides, cartoons are cartoons. Sitcoms have people in it. Real people. Now, that time Homer entered the real world in that Halloween special doesn't count.

Besides, Oooog, remember, any retard can own a site.  :p

I dunno, this site looks relatively official.  Type in Google "Sitcoms" the first site to come up, "Sitcomsonline" or something, click on it, if you want.  On the left side, click "F", scroll down a little from the top, and you'll see a fairly large (Compared to the other's) section on Family Guy.
Title:

Well yeah, retards can be official looking *cough*Bush*cough* lol.

but i reckon for the sake of this thread cartoons should be excluded.

I've actually heard that the Simpsons is a sitcom, but I'm not sure about the others. Personally, I don't understand why a cartoon can't be a situational comedy, but whatever. I gave my other list.
Title:
Post by: Drace on August 16, 2005, 11:40:47 PM
A cartoon is a cartoon. You say it yourself. A sitcom is a show with people of flesh and bone and that involve people acting, not voice acting on a drawing.

For the sake of staying on topic, Ima stop argueing, we can discuss this later if you want, but I still stand by what I think.  I'm not trying to be offensive or anything, but..yeah..

Anyway, I just remembered another sitcom I liked.  So Ima update my list.

1.)Seinfeld

dude I watched one episode of the much hyped Curb Your Enthusiasm. I stayed up till 3 in the morning, since I don't have cable.

I was expecting one of the funniest things ever.

So what happens? Larry David walks over to someones house. 3 minutes later. Larry David is at someones house. WHERE THE HELL WAS THE FUNNY?! I WANTED LAUGH! :(
