The Story

Recently the empire Shumai came under control of a new king. This new kings methods have been questioned by the entire country & he has become a dictator over his country. Recently he made his most questionable move ever, he ordered his army to go overseas to the north and attack the Krishnu continent. The army decides to slip into a small town acting as the Krishnu army & have a few drinks in the bar. Word gets out to a man named Master Dai & he informs a young Dark Knight named Kerra that these men are from Shumai and are going to attack Kerras hometown in just a few hours. Kerra is forced to leave his hometown and journey through the mountains to the Krishnu Castle with his very aggresive ex-partner Neva who also trained with him a long time ago. Here is where Kerras journey begins to fight against Shumai & the Kings evil army.

Characters

Name: Kerra
Age: 21
Class: Dark Knight (In Training)
Bio: Lived as an ambitious fighter since he was young but never had the chance to become great. That was until Master Dai took residence in his hometown and agreed to teach him the rare abilities of the Dark Knight. Kerra had become very wise from Master Dais teachings but never was able to complete his training because he was forced to escape his town before Shumai destroyed it.

Name: Neva
Age: 19
Class: Black Mage
Bio: A nutty agressive young girl who is secretly in love with Kerra. She manages to sheild herself from showing any kind of kind emotions but after spending alot of time with Kerra she finds it harder & harder to keep from letting Kerra know her true feelings. This is often triggered by her bad temper which often gets Kerra & Neva's bond even closer.

By the way, this is the first game i've ever released so please go easy on me. Also there is a few story mess-ups. Actually 1 which is where Master Dai says your getting a magicians cap. Please don't tell me 'omg clichezors' or any of that crap. Also don't tell me its sh** because I want something constructive that wont make me give up entirely. :D

When I first saw this, I thought here we go, ANOTHER ff fangame. But really, if you take off the Final Fantasy in your title, you have an original game that just uses the Final Fantasy format. I liked your indoor mapping and world map, though the indoor mapping could use a little more detail. However, the town's mapping was subpar, I have to say. Add more detail and more houses. Even though people are leaving the town, add more houses to represent where they once lived, and maybe throw in some chests and other goodies left behind. Another thing about the town was that it was possible to walk over the water. I enjoyed the sprites and I liked how you based it off an earlier FF (4 I think?) rather than what a lot of people do and just go, "Yeah, I'm making an FF7 fangame!." Well as far as first releases go, this is good. Just work on a bit.

Oh yeah, one more thing - please make an option for resting. It's difficult when you can only heal yourself with potions when you have a place to rest right there.

Good luck with the rest of this!

I thought it would be interesting to play a game that uses FF IV's graphics...so I downloaded it.

It isn't bad but it's highly unbalanced in battle. You'll get your butt-kicked big time if you don't use your Dark Wave attack. The maps are empty...as in...very empty....except for the Pub. Quite the crowd for such a small village.

That leaves me wondering if it's possible for someone to make a good game using the FF graphics...assuming there's an original story and isn't called Final Fantasy.

I say, keep going but try to maintain balance.

WOOT! No Cloud. Thank the almighty God. To me, as long as it doesn't have Yuna or Cloud, its a good FF game.
Title: Yay, its not bad.

I guess the towns could use more detail so i'll concentrate on that for the moment before progressing in the game. I glad you like it over-all & I guess Dark Wave attack is the only way to win during the beggining. I might have it damage you 20% of health instead of 10% Would you agree?

Once you leave Krishnu I think the game gets a bit more interesting.
I'll reduce the Dark Wave attacks strength and increase the taken damage rate. 15-20%

Also at the very end if you manage to get that far there is an extremely difficult boss which MAY require training to beat. Neva is a little bit weak maybe around the edges but I plan for her power to skyrocket half way through. Also I reccomend not walking into the stairs at the end if you want to try out the Paladin character who shall not be named.

Oh yeah and the pub is crowded because its the Shumai Army in disguise.

Dark Wave is the *only* way to win early on. Either lower the HP drain, weaken the enemy or slow them down. Not all of those, just one.

Darkwave turly is the only way. You need to make your enemies alot weaker, or at least make them drop potions more often.
Yeah, I tried it and died before I even got the the dang town.

You really need to make things easier.

Also, you need to make your maps alot more livlyier (sp?) and need to make the dark wave an event condiction, not a skill set in my opinion.
