Title: So You Want to Be a Pixel Artist?
Post by: Drighton on October 08, 2005, 07:24:36 PM
I found a site linking me to this tutorial and thought it would be good for you all. Tsugumo works at Big Blue Bubble in Canada on a game for Nintendo DS.

The tutorials looked pretty nice:

This has really captured my intrest. I just finished chapter 7, and it's great so far. Really makes me want to start taking spriting and pixel art more seriously.

I just remembered that I posted this.

I posted it partly so I would remember to read it, but also because I knew it would be beneficial to anyone.

Well, I just got around to reading it.

He stresses not using the black outline when doing your art. And the samples he provides definately proves that the alternative method is better.

GOOD READ. Everyone needs to take a good look at this!

Now I know to use shades of purple for shading instead of pure black.. and only 3-4 colors for whatever I may be doing.

I always use a darker shade of what I'm outlining.
