Title: Can colours be cliche?
Post by: Guzeinbuick on December 12, 2005, 12:25:44 AM
Yeah, so I noticed that almost all the RPG games I see have blue as their menu colours. All the other colours are kinda harsh on the eyes (Except black) but I'm trying to avoid cliches at all costs. But...last time I checked, colours can't be cliched.
What do you guys think? I need your opinions.

A dark green is nice and soft, as is a dark red. Or you could fade from light to dark for a color. It really depends more on the color of the text and the contrast between it and the background to determine how bad or good a menu is.

White on blue is just the most common mix - hell, even this forum uses it.

Colors arn't cliche in my opinion. Blue is just easy to look at. Any bright color doesn't work, and anything other then white/grey text doesn't work very well either. Brown looks ok as a background color though, as will a darkened gray.

You could make the color white and the text black.

Dark-color text on Light-color background isn't something I'm too keen with. I'm tired of seeing it on my computer all the time!

What you wanna do here.....Is hot pink/Neon Green Strobing Background with White and Black Strobing Letters....Suprisingly its easy on the eyes....Make sure you calibrate the strobe properly though, or you will have a seizure and die.
