Hi everyone again! I hope there are still a couple regulars who remember me :D
I have talked with Alex about the lose of bttlechar generator resources and dug a bunch of them from my old backups. Unluckily enough, they were few, and only those that I made myself when the battlechar generator was born...
But I have also found a couple ZIP files in the forums, loaded with resources, some of which never even got into the generator!
Obviously, converting them all myself would be a horrible chore...
So, what I need is 3 or 4 dedicated people who could give me a hand with converting resources in those ZIP files from the old format to the new 344 pixels wide images, AND, equally important, trying to find out who the original author of each of the files was.
This needs to be done with some order and thought, so I'd like to first ask for those volunteers, and then we will see what is the best way to proceed with it :)

I'm to lazy.

Link plz.
I can convert them in a flash. I can even check for validity.
-
That would be awesome Gary! The two ZIP files are:
Part 1: http://charas-project.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=11323&forumid=23&catid=8
Part 2: http://charas-project.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=11324&forumid=23&catid=8
I think the tough part will be identifying the author of each resource. As Alex said, it would be too unfair to either put my name, his name or anonymous as author of all these resources.
-
By the Gods! I remember! I made the orange-like brown suit!
I'll submit them ASAP! I'm sure I made them!
Also, I hope this will help in identifying. I already found the entry for the ninja hair.
I also hate that Fang guy. Why the hell did he rename them to French? This really ticks me off, since it is all guesswork now.
EDIT: With this I meant this:
THIS (http://www.archive.org)
Also, I believe that Link's tunic is forever lost :'(
EDIT: YES!!! NOT ALL IS LOST!!!
I will come with a new pack soon. I also added the original name. As of now, also, I already uploaded my resources, the ones I made of myself (for the Charas Movie), and one I just made (Molly from Pokemon 3).
EDIT: I've decided NOT to add Gold Dean's basic suits, since they are ****.
See for yourself (http://web.archive.org/web/20040317175906/charas-project.net/autinfo.php?lang=it&id=160&mostrarisorse_b=1)
EDIT: I also am not correcting someone's spelling mistakes. I only do that with my resources.
EDIT: I'm also helping out because, well, let's say I have done that several times before.
-
That's cool Gary :) I agree with you that those dresses aren't very good, but perhaps the hairs could be spared?
Tell me when you get bored of fixing those resources and I'll take care of the rest hehe
EDIT: Some more can be retrieved using WebArchive. For some reason they have archived the contributions of Charas staff members but not mine... That's favouritism! lol
EDIT: Ahhhh, cool, using even older versions of the website we'll be able to recover some more resources :D
-
I fixed the hair already, that's not a big point.
I was thinking on still using Warxe's rejected sprites and create a new section with it, but I think I'll start from scratch.
By the by, I'll upload the files here, you can continue for now, I'll have to rest. I already covered some, and mine are already upped. God I love the Elvis hair. I can still remember when I created it. I had some issues with the back of the head in the hurting pose. Yeah, the hair was fully custom. No RTP existed for it.
I'm going to convert some more resources from the charset generator to battlecharsets.
-
Hey Gary, could you also upload here your resources as a .zip? That way I can be sure that I'm not duplicating any already-processed battlecharset
-
Eh, didn't I already upload the battlecharsets? It's in the attachment below my post.
Unless you're talking about my own resources, which I already uploaded.
-
Yeah, I was talking about your own :D But I just noticed they are six, so it is doubtful that I'll commit many errors :)
-
Hey Sarg. Nice to see a name from that long ago. Well, good luck. I can't help, but I wish I could.
-
Hi Charaman! Don't worry for not being able to help :) Support is sometimes help enough.
PROGRESS: About half of the available resources converted. Now trying to contact Alex to see how to continue and to clear a couple doubts.
-
:(
After 5 days still no updates on the BChars section.
-
No, much worse, some guy called Avalon has re-sent the Battlechars that I have already worked on!
This was EXACTLY what I was trying to avoid...
EDIT: I have contacted him to see what we can do now
-
It just took me a few seconds, I converted them for personal use, and didnt want to wait for you guys as im developping a cool fighter game using the characters, and i needed some more clothings.. and then i realised i could aswell just share them anyways, so i did it intentionally
:badboy: bad me :)
-
I think the BChar section is shyte now anyways. Most of the bodies aren't aligned properly currently, which makes the new resources currently void. I'll contact Alex about it, and I will come back later with some fixes of the pre-uploaded resources.
And I'll redirect Alex to this thread while I'm at it.
-
I have the ones I worked at on hold :) When you have cleared everything contact me via this thread and I'll post/send what I have.
It would help if I had mod access to the generator, but as I understand limited mod access is impossible under the current system
-
I am currently working on ajusting the old resources. New resources can still be submitted, it's the old resources who need to be fixed. I've compared the old ones with the real BCharsets, and the old ones were the wrong ones.
