ZOMG I'm ONLY good with dragons. I suck at doggies though. We should some how.... morph into one Darkfox, then we'd be unstoppable!

But seriously, I like to think I'm decent with dragons. ZKX seems to think so.

The funny thing is, the dog, Cindy, is the foster mom of another character.

Ever draw a human, DarkFox?  :p
Title:
Post by: MrMister on January 11, 2006, 02:08:13 AM
Yeah, try some non-anthropomophic hellish freak spawn of a man's sin against nature. Heh, like, something that exists.
Like a tree, or an owl, or your left hand.

Look at picktures of foxes, wolfs, dogs and draw them then you get better at drawing that trust me i know

But i really like them. i can not draw animals for my life
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on January 11, 2006, 02:15:24 AM
Well, I do try humans and other weird looking creatures, like some squid thing with one eye, haven't scanned any of them yet. I just do better at drawing cute fuzzy things. I HAVE A SENSITIVE SIDE!

Plus you can't really do much with the human face because it tends to look stupid when you give them a big forehead and such XD. And they aren't as kawaii as a KITTY! Omg... I said Kawaii... *harikiri*

To be honest I think somthing that is beastly is more intimidating than say, a big guy. Because at least for the big guy you know he can't beat the crud out of you, but a beast is more likely to bite you with massive jaws or claw you up. One way or another your going to be in a lot of pain, but bruises heal faster than gashes.
Title: Update
Post by: Darkfox on March 03, 2006, 06:47:18 PM
Hafada...

Ok, I tried out humanoid here, it's not my usual but I felt like doing it anyways, trying to expand some because somtimes it sucks to not be able to draw a human, even though they always tend to turn out a bit... generic O.o;; well here's my Electros sketch.

Actually, it's not that bad, you should have been drawing humans to start.. ;)

I still preferably draw humanoids and animals, which I've improved upon. Buuuut I do need to draw human versions of some of the characters like Darkfox's and Kore (Ronin dude with white hair) XP

Oh yah XD Some random things I did in a chat with Kijuki for laughs:

Red's Uncle Fred 1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/HeadThingandRed.png)
Red's Uncle Fred 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/HeadThingandRed2.png)

Also some others practiceing an anime style.

Pink Chan loses her voodoo dolls. People die soon after. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/PinkFoxChanCry.png)
"Come a little bit closer and face your judgement..." (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/GabrielleTempNameSketch.jpg)

Something random, a villain: JACK TA RIPPA (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/JackTheRipper.png)

Some more sketches, first up is my newest, I wasn't satisfied with the current sketch of Bianca so I redrew her from scratch with much less proportion issues. I drew this up just last night, I wasn't too satisfied with the face, but I guess it came out alright...

Bianca Version 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/BiancaV2.png)

Secondly is the second newest, Anubia. I feel this could have been a lil better if I applied a bit more effort, though it isn't easy because of the Cleopatra-ish clothes.

Anubia: Queen of the Sands (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/Anubia.png)

Just a hunch but do you, erm, like your women hairy?
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on March 07, 2006, 02:04:58 AM
Hahahahahahahahaha! I like variety if that is what you mean XD, I kid, I kid! That sounded bad <.<...  :badboy:

Bigger version of Bianca (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/BiancaV22.png)

PB messed up the last one. I'm personally pleased with the results.

I'm trying what is easiest to me. And what I am preferant to. I am HOWEVER still practiceing on drawing humans. Thus I cannot draw humans propperly. Human characters do exist, they tend to turn out a bit generic though -_-... in drawing I love variety, I draw everything from blobs (The blob sprites are based on sketches made by me) to other things like snakes and other more complex organisms.

Afterall, it isn't all scientifically implausable soooo... whats the issue? XD
Title:
Post by: WarxePB on March 07, 2006, 02:14:16 AM
As usual, your stuff is pretty original, and I absolutely love your style. Those recent sketches are definately better than some of your old stuff. One of my favorite artists :D
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on March 07, 2006, 02:32:28 AM
Thanks WP. :D My goals are to continue to improve on my current style rather that use an entirely different one. And your right, I have gone a ways. :]] Thanks again. Appreciate the support.

Nice pics, but I still say that fuzzies with big boobs are creepy XD
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on March 07, 2006, 02:41:15 AM
Proportions aren't my strong suit XD aaaaaalthough I think I handled it much better with Bianca.

Edit: Also when I get faces right for humans, I won't have much an issue drawing them as it would be a mere slight change in body. Yep, fact is I'm inexperienced with human faces. That is the issue. I actually intended to draw Bianca's face a bit more human.
Title:
Post by: MrMister on March 07, 2006, 02:45:31 AM
That is large, for a regualr human chick.
Kangaroos don't have tits.
Don't you think the size would be somewhere in between?
Also I think the tube top is slutty and impractical, which I know you are not. A kangaroo being a boxer is kind of goofy, but hilarious none the less.
Female kangaroos are supposed to have puches waround where that belly button is.

ALSO, the run on sentence for the quote is a huge bastard to look at.

Uhmmmm... nothing else to say, because I know from experience you don't like being critiqued, so..... good work pal!
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on March 07, 2006, 02:56:40 AM
Yeah, it's all WIP.

The reason of the height is that the legs are longer, as you know, Kangaroos hand long feet and legs standing up straight and such.

KICK boxer XD. Oh and the tube top is because I thought of what a famous female wrestler/fighter would wear, like what they would wear to suit the fans.

Yeah, that ran through my mind a few times. But I figured for now to leave it out, considering that the character is more human it might seem a tad akward.

O.o... well they ARE mammals... :| uhhhh... hmmm... human attribute? I mean, being a spliced human afterall...

Ah. Nice. I wish I had the courage to show others my drawings. I'm my own worst critic, so I see everything as better than mine. Goodish. Yeah.
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on March 07, 2006, 03:01:25 AM
Thanks :). I'm sure you are probably beating yourself up over nothing. :p

I will run the probabilities of the pouch issue.

Edit: Big thanks to Anthony for a resolution in the pouch thing. In his opinion since Bianca is around 50/50 human and kangaroo, the pouch would be small in comparison to an actual kangaroo, so it would lay tightly against the stomach a bit lower than the naval and would be barely visible unless opened. Like how a paper cut is barely visible until it starts to bleed some.
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on March 21, 2006, 06:07:35 PM
AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Ok, I drew a male.

"...um...what shoelaces?" (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/Karl.jpg)

The shy nervous and avoidant Karl. His character undergone a massive change over the last versions of him that were pretty much insane. Now he's sane, quieter, shy, and has a bit of a temper when it comes to being blamed for things. Pretty much a teenage boy attitude.

ALSO, about Bianca, I fixed her feet: Bianca Updated (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/BiancaV2Update.jpg)

AAAAND she does have a pouch but it is, as Anthony said "Like a paper cut" meaning it is relatively small and hard to see as it lays tight against the skin, somewhere under the naval.

Ok ok, long time no update, while I work on my human and creature styles I will continue with the norm, but paceing toward bettering my style and sprouting off.

Latest:  Coyote the Trickster (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/ShinDarkfox/Art/CoyoteV2.jpg)

Coyote plays a teacher role and a trainer, she usually appears as a small coyote with a blue bow, or a Native American woman, or a mix between the two. Each symbol on her body is Native American standing for somthing. She is an illusionist and shapeshifter and is also one of the maidens, as well as a guardian. She is around 5ft and weighs around 120lbs in human and anthro forms. Her backstory links with old NA tradition etc. blahblahblah XD

I think you should draw them in poses more suiting their personalities and animal characteristics. I still like them, though.

Post by: Darkfox on August 02, 2006, 11:33:50 PM
Poses are coming up, I still have to "perfect" things. As for why I'm kicking this, I've been working on a new character that is edging tward more humanoid characters. He's Jester, a "Dream Creature".

Do some stuff more darker, or in ink cause I canīt see much...

I donīt know...the weird lupines and stuff arenīt my thing. I canīt get into them, and the style is strange too. But hey, thatīs just me.

Hey! Thatīs prejudice!

Anyway, the best thing you do is draw a lot! Plus, a guy with a bag in the head is saying this, how important can his statements be?

...

wait...

Hey! That's prejudice!

well i agree with you.

But, he could've gotten the avatar thinking of the GG chara. Millia and Baiken <3 Those are prolly the only two game charas that I can drool for, their sprites are just freaking awesome. XD yet i dun like em as much as samus and nakoruru =D

Just a quick sideview of Temiline I did as a reference:

My ava, at first, had nothing in his paper bag, it was just plain. I wanted to make him a blind-one-armed guy. Then I saw Joker, from Persona 2, and then I made the modifications (i kinda ripped it, but I have the savior point that the original concept was my own).

Yes, Iīm a huge Shin Megami (Megaten) fan, as is Dark Fox. And Iīm also a GG fan, but I swear I didnīt remember Faust when I drew my ava (I did it before I even played GG).

Can I call them or what? XD

I'm working on some stuff as well as practiceing other poses.
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on September 28, 2006, 11:55:00 PM
I've done a lot since the last update, but two stand out. Yes, I'm still using this kind of paper, I'm planning to use better paper after time or go full digital. This is my second posing experiment (yes, posing, I'm starting poses!):

 Le Femme De Gnoll (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40458868/)

Title random, XD and the axe turned out weird.. And the first before that turned out right giving me confidence to do more pose pictures:

 Paelise "Pale Eyes" (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40339153/)

Yes, a female kobold. I've never seen a solid image of what a kobold should look like, but it seemed to be favorably a dog/rat creature. I based her off of that but refined the design a bit to be a bit more refined looking creature rather than a generic mutation.

The height I might cut down a few inches though. They aren't very big you know. And yes, there is some DnD influence here. But I swear I never play DnD! I just liked the Gnoll concepts, bout it, their cool with the big axes and stuff XD.
Title:

Pealise is exacly what you needed to do! You made your trace more firm, consistent and smooth. Your best by far, congrats!
Title:
Post by: Moosetroop11 on September 29, 2006, 04:43:39 PM
The most important critisism I can give right now is that your characters have really really short legs when they stand up. If that's because of their race and they're meant to have short legs, then discount the comment ^.^

You're certainly improving.
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on September 30, 2006, 01:43:17 AM
Major thanks on your comments! ^_^ I do not intentionally make the legs short. I try to make the legs length consistent with the body length and I am completely freehand with no guidelines so it is rather hard. I'm working on it.

I need to finish a quick human one I did of Father Ren.

Title:
Post by: Almeidaboo on October 01, 2006, 10:26:00 AM
Well, If youīre persuing manga style, hereīs an advice: try to shape the head like a upside down pentagon (without the top part ;)). The top of the head is round, but thatīll not be visible cause the hair will cover it. Still, it canīt look like a heart...

Good thing youīre drawing humans man. If your foxes are humanoid, knowing the human body is rally good to improve their look. Manga style is good cause itīs respect for the real anatomy is relative, oposite to HQ (which I detest)
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on October 03, 2006, 02:31:44 AM
HQ? O_o

And wait, foxes? I have actually rarely drawn a fox in a while now. Mainly other things. Kobold and gnoll are based some off of the DnD versions. Design is mine though.

Hmm...maybe HQ is a portuguese term (which I just figured it out: historias em quadrinhos : sorry 'bout that) . Well, I mean drawings like Batman and Spiderman, etc...

Uhh....I always thought those were foxes...different ones, but foxes nonetheless...
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on October 05, 2006, 10:13:35 PM
This is like when those guys got foxes and wolves confused XD

No, the shapes and design differ. I may also draw dragonids. *shrug* I try to be diverse.

Making lots of different things is the best you do...Do not fall on the trap of specialyzing like I did...Right now I can only draw males...people think Iīm gay and all...disgusting.

EDIT: Cool way to sign!

New one! And a male this time! His name is not really Noman, it's actually basically me saying "Unamed" but Alexander is the considered name which I know is a weird name for a Gnoll. And he has a goatee! XD

Anyway, y'know what I do for hard hand poses? I work with cubes and cilinders...Makes it easier so catch the perspective and all...
