I have been in and out of bands lately, and so, over the past summer and few months I have been working on some solo work. I play the guitar and bass in these songs, and do all vocals, except on 'Together' where I feature my best friend from home, Raychel.
Hope you enjoy. Oh, I will be re-recording these with better equipment as soon as possible, because at the time I had lost my voice so a few songs I sound a little raspy.
All drumming is synthed, and will be replaced as soon as possible (it sucks)
All tracks are copyright 2006 Patrick Clark.
Beautiful Stranger (http://media.putfile.com/Beautiful-Stranger)
This one is kinda strange. It's kinda classic rock sounding, and I tend to sing it with an accent. :| It's kinda weird, but I like the song.
Together ft Raychel Beyer (http://media.putfile.com/Together20)
This is a sad love song, I like it. My voice takes on a country sound because I was having a really hard time reaching higher notes to fit with the music, so I sang deep. (I also realize that she is a much better singer then I can ever hope to be) The guitar solo kinda sucks, I kinda made it up on the spot... I should really have worked on actually writing it down.
I'm Broken (http://media.putfile.com/Im-Broken)
This is a sad slow song, which I really, really want to re-record, for a few reasons. This was the first song I mixed, and the bass is way too loud, and I just think it sounds like crap. My voice on this one also cracks, and I don't really remember how to play a lot of the parts. Hopefully a new version will be recorded in the summer, and it'll be a lot better.
That's all the songs I have recorded, at least the ones I feel comfortable letting other people listen to at the moment...

wow I got really scared when I head that one
i was like OMG HE SOUNDS LIKE ME!
but then I read it like a smart person.
Nice. I liked them all.Creative and thought out.
The sky's the limit WOO

Thank you very much. It took me a while to understand what you were talking bout though. I assume you mean when Ray is singing? If so, I, for some reason, would have imagined you having a more Brody Dalle/Courtney Love singing voice.
-
actually my voice isnt like that lol
It's kinda high pitched and mousy when I sing.
It's no fun to be a small person.

It needs work, a lot of time you were off beat, which ruined the possibility of a good song. If you tried to stay on beat they'd sound a lot better. Also, the bass in Broken is pretty bad. It just conflicts too much with other notes.
-
I have to say I agree with dren about the sometimes being off beat thing, but I still think they were all pretty good!
-
They all have good sounding potential, and are well written, but not very well recorded. I can see that it would be better if u had a better recording, but these versions are badly done. But over all there good songs. YOu may want to turn the bass down a notch or too in that last song though.
BTW-on the one with the chick, you almost sound like billy corgan lol.

Thanks for all comments
Dren - It's hard for me to stay on beat without actual drumming, and since when I recorded all these I didn't have a drummer around, I think that's the reason it may have been off beat at times. Also, I'll look at the bass line a bit when I re-record, I do plan on changing a lot of stuff for that song.
Seth - I hate these recordings because it was basically my first try at recording anything ever. The bass was accidentally too loud, I definately will be turning it down when I re-record everything. And I've got the Billy Corgan thing before, and I hear it especially in the chorus. Didn't mean to do that though...

Well, they're really not bad. They just need a few touch ups. I'll be waiting for the next recording. :)

Yah, I have some bad recordings too, I'm getting slowly better at it though. Just keep making different versions, then listen to each and find which is the best, that's what seems to the best way for me to get a good record.
