How many people would be up for another mapping contest with updated rules? One that perhaps Robotam and Myself probally wouldn't be entering to compete in? Would people be interested in doing this, or do you think one was enough for the year. Post your comments please.

Get over yourself.
I'd enter, and try this time... -_-
-
Mr. Mister hit that one on the nose. So what if you win? We do this for fun. You're so arrogant and you act like you're such a great mapper just because you won the last contest and people have said your mapping's great. Boasting about it doesn't really do anything for you except make you look like more of an *** than you already are.
On another note, I wouldn't mind trying the contest, but it depends on my actual time.
-
Sure I'll enter it. The only reason meis won is because I didn't enter the last one :p Hehe, no one has seen any of the maps I've made in the past year, so I'll take everyone by surprise, mwahahahaha!!!
Seriously though, you should enter the contest and give someone a chance to beat you.
-
Oh yeah! I'm in. I won the forrest (I think), so I think I got a chance. Let's role! :D
-
You mind waiting a few weeks (as in 2-3) so that I could enter? oo'
I've got so much on me now.
-
And I'm absolutely sure you wouldn't all have reacted the same way if Robotam was the one that said what Meiscool had said.
-
True.

Probably. That's probably one of the reason I wouldn't enter. The way it was said, it was more of a contest to boost a certain ego.
-
I was just saying that because I heard a few people say that they didn't want to enter because they didn't think they had a chance against me or Robotam, nothing saying I'm the best.
Plus, I wanted to be a judge instead of actually competing in this. Not everything I say is ment to be an "ego" booster. In fact, I've said in many occasions that Robotam is the better mapper of us two, but do you try to look for that, no.
-
Sounds good to me, I might enter, might not.
-
I never really paid attention to the first contest, whats the rules/guidlines and all?
-
They will be changed, Robotam and I are talking it over, and are thinking of the idea of a mapping turnament. So far, we'll have chipset catagories rather then mountain and etc, as well as a catagory where you can choose the size of your map and show us the entire thing rather then a screen shot, but most maps will just be a screenshot.
Again, we're still talking it over.
-
do i really need to post?kjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

am I able to enter Ive been working on my map making lately...
Miescools maps are realy good! Oh and can i use rpgxp instead of rm2k3 cause I cant seem to get the maps i make for rm2k3 to work...

Hmm, I'll only enter if its just the screenshots. A lot of my mapping has to do with the effects I add (shadows, fog, light, etc.), plus I use a lot of events in mapping (such as the splash effects for a waterfall), and showing the entire thing won't show them.

Well rmxp has 2x the resolution, it doesn't have any restrictions size or color wise. I know back when I was using rmxp I made some very sweet maps, the thing is I don't know if it'd be fair if you could use them. Personally I wouldn't mind, but its up to Meiscool and Robotam, or whoever the judges are.
-
RMXP maps can be drop dead gorgeous.
-
If you guys want, I can sanction this as an Official Charas Contest and have the moderator staff judge entries and hand out little lame medals and stuff to the winners.
-
Please, if not in this one, then in the next? one, please set a specific chipset. I've already explained why this would be a good idea in the last map contest, so keep it in mind.
-
I've already set seperations between Rudra, Mac and Blue, and etc. I will not do what you request though Archem, because certin people are only good with certin chips, and it would be unfair to set a Mac and Blue chip for everyone when (Example Ace) uses Rudra mostly, but would be weakened because of this. Plus, it will get really boring.
Now, if we stick with the toury idea, if two people vs one another, then we might choose a chip that they will be forced to both used so it's based all on skill, but other then that, your idea is shot to me.
-
I'd enter a lot more in this one than I did last one regardless of the rules.
-
Oh well. At least I tried. I only suggested it because I can never seem to find a chipset that works very well, often having huge (or at least oddly noticable) problems. Mebe you could post a few good sets or some sites where good ones can be found. Then I might be able to find something worthwhile. I hate the results from google, they usually turn up the imperfect ones I mentioned.

You're our man.. As in "sure, that'd be great".
Then I also think we should keep the tournament idea, it'll give more action to the contest.
-
I'll join again... And post more than one map this time!
-
ill join i think my mapping skills are rather good
tournament idea sounds cool
-
This is how I was thinking. If we're going to have a tournament with one-one battles I think we should skip the idea of having any categories at all. A tournament is about battles and there can only be one winner and he can only win with one map.
And I also think we should keep the 20x15 size rule. It somehow makes things easier, having a tournament and with all different sizes.. it's just confusing and people will just judge the map by how big it is.
What is concerning me the most is if we're going to have a vote system where majority rules. Or if we're going to have one or more judges to judge a winner in every battle. This time I don't want just any judges out of the blue, I want heavy aess judges. In other words someone with great mapping skills.

Sounds fine with me.

Same here.
-
Get some guidlines made out. Ill think about entering.
-
Im entering cause I need to practice making maps so this could be the way :D
-
Robotam convinced me har har. Or at least talked to me about it enough for me to say "I suck but see where I end up"
-
For those who doesn't know what a tournament is (if any) I'll post a picture right here.

Of course our tournament will hopefully be a lot bigger than this.
I'm going to ask you all, what would you like to see... a voting system that decides the winner or judges once again?
-
so wait....you're going to do a vs.? instead of just over all best?
well I really hope you fall get into it, you'll have to make more then one voice.
unless you want to use the same one and just compare. I dunno
-
Count me in. Last time was fun.
-
Voting might take a long time, but judges can be bias.
You already know my opinion Robotam, but to tell the people, I favor having Judges.
-
Judges are always a good idea. They're used in most, if not all, contests. Beauty, bodybuilding, routine, videogames, talent shows, amongst others. My two cents.
-
Well, I believe I've gotten enough support and feedback on the idea, so as soon as Robotam gets on MSN while I am and we sort out a few more things, I guess we'll start this.
-
how bout this, we have one person keeping votes and votes a pm'ed to them and when the time is up the winner is the 1 with most votes by pm
-
I like the idea...
-
Voting can be biased too :)
I think judges work, as long as they are impartial.
-
BUMPED!!!
on note, people are not following the threal map submitting thing on the other thread.
on other note i like how the tournament thing looks
You can always pick ppl at random (do a name drawing :D)and match them and judge them.
This way can very much also get the best out of the rest.
hopefully you'll do it this way.... it's just so different from other ways that is cool. and well different.
I also want a thread to comment on =/ what fun is a contest if you're only gonna watch and not tlak about itin within the arena.
-
*bumps* there was ever a due date <.< who are the mods of this contest? besides robbie.
-
Yeah, this is really meant to be the talk thread. And the other one just for submitting maps, but people won't listen to me.
You're right Kiju, that's pretty much the way it will be. I'm going to have the judges announce one battle at a time too. I'd like to call that 'top grade A tension'.
Me and Meiscool is pretty much the mods over the contest.
