Post by: Claudio84 on February 21, 2006, 08:44:46 AM
Hi at  all, my name is Claudio and i'm Italian. I introduce you a demo of a crazy project that I have begun to make more than a year it makes but that I have resumed only today... to make a project of soccer with rpgmaker2000 and more in particular a football match11 vs 11... this demo is only demo of the game, still are present some bug and is not complete, but I make it in order to have your councils and in order to try someone that help me... use the directional arrows to move the players, with Z you will pass the ball, with X you will launch it high ... I have still not completed the lateral remittances and corner kick, therefore the game would not have to be never blocked... place to you some screen of my game... is less than 1Mb, i want many comments....bye!!!!

Wow, that looks a very cool system. I can't download it right now since I'm at school, but I'll try it out later :)

The problem I see with sports games on rm2k/3, is they're just crappy versions of commercial sports game. Its not the programmers fault, its just that they can't comptete with a commercial game's 3D graphics and advanced gameplay. None the less, I think something like this to be done in rm2k is very impressive. But I think it would be better for mini-games rather than for a game of its own.

Oh, I like that. I never expected a soccer, or should I say football?, game to be created on Rpg Maker. Good work, a pity I don't like sports game.

Hi Dragonblaze, what you say is true, the commercial game of sport is sure better, but my game is only a likeable game for the lovers of the rpgmaker...for the future, i put in my game the real team as Juventus, Milan, Inter....

You could always partner up with a different developer who is making a modern game and feature it as like a mini game that the main character can play- like you go to the stadium and then play

I finally got home and was able to play the game. Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool.

It seems that when you move your character, all the characters move, after a while, all my players got all bunched together, and well, it didn't work so well. May I suggest that only the player closest to the ball is the player you control, and all the other players are controlled by AI. It would be difficult, but really cool if you could do it.

Looks good. Not sure how well it will work with tiled display, but who knows, maybe you used pictures, I really didn't bother to read it all.

However, I would've used a custom clock instead of the pre-set clock, because the moment I saw that I instantly thought laziness for some odd reason. Your game certinly looks good though.

Shadow: Right.... american football has guys smacking on anothers asses, and you think soccer is pussie because they hug after scoring? Only the English kiss each other, and that's because it's customary culture.

Every sport has guys smaking other guys on the asses :p

IDK, soccer is fun, it'd be my second favorite sport. My favorite is american football though. Its just so fun running full speed at some little running back and shmearing them on the ground. Then of course theres those people soccer people who think football is for pussies because we get to wear pads.. Which personally I don't get because even when we wear pads we have 10 people out for the season for broken bones or torn ligaments, soccer people have what, 1 person out for a rolled ankle? Lawn ferries... Then again, I've heard football people be called lawn trolls, and baseball people diamond dummies. Oh yeah, like I said earlier, I like soccer, though my second favorite sport to play first hand, its my favorite sports game to play via video games.

Dammit, did I just get off topic there, grr, not again...

Edit: Oh yeah, something on topic. I find nothing wrong with using the defult timer. After all, a custom timer would look almost exactly the same, theres no point in doing all that extra work to do something rm2k3 already does well.

For the custom clock, it is a good idea and i think that is simple to do...
I try to do that only the player closest to the ball is the player you control, and all the other players are controlled by AI, but it's impossible for me....
Thankyou for your comments, bye Claudio

P.s I like football but i'm not homosexual  :D

Well, it's very possible, you just need a **** load of X and Y work. It would be very very hard for me to explain, and DB is always better at explaining this crap anyways, so I'll let him explain.... lolz, DB ftw

0.o

Yeah, anyway, you would have to record the x and y possition of every player in variables. Then you would have to subtract the balls locations from every player. If the values are negitive, multiply them by -1 to get the absolute value. Compare the numbers and which ever one is smallest is the on that's clostest to the ball. Then you would have to make a switch that once a player is controlled, no other player will go under your controll if they are the same distance, because otherwise as your running, you could accidently switch over to another player.

Then the AI, you have to check their possition compared to the possition of the player that you're controlling, and if they're really close, have them spread out. Have them go for the ball, and other stuff like that.

I could go over everything in depth if you want. I doubt you could pull much out of that :p. I just didn't want to spend a few hours writing something detailed that wouldn't be used.
