Title: SilverFire - The Shinro Gene (aka Dragon World)

Ok, first off, if you're one of them lazy people (like me) who skips right to the screenshots, let me just mention this before you do your skipping. :p I need characters for my game, so members here can submit characters to be put in my game. I have more info on it after the screenies :p You are now free to skip, although it would be nice if you at least skimmed through the rest of the info.

STORY

Ever since humans were born on the earth, they have been in constant conflict with the dragons, who have had the world to themselves for ages. As a new age dawned, it caused a change in the world. People were able to change the enviornment to their needs, through this they gained an advantage over all other creatures. Though dragons where natuarally stronger than humans, they weren't the all-powerful beings that many games portray them to be, and through the humans greater numbers and advanced war machines, they were able to put up a fight against the dragons. As the hatred for eachother began to grow more and more, a new race of sub-dragons where born known as the Shinro. Writting from this era has been lost or destoryed, but the stories tell that the fighting stopped shortly after the arival of this new race, thus it was assumbed that the shinro were the cause of the peace.

But now, after thousands of years, the true shinro gene has been lost, and the true identity of them forgotten. Battles have been faught between the two races, as theres always been, but its mainly been small skimishes and not actual 'war'.

 Dragons range from thier normal quarapedal forms to the bipedal shinro forms. Social status and rank came from how close one was to having the true shinro gene, though the system also favored those with power.

Then the battles grew more intence once again, though by clever negotiating between the key figures on both sides, the fighting was slowing down. It seemed as though both sides realized the benifit of peice and cooexistance. However from the shadows, a forced urged the battles on. The head of the dragon army, Vorthon, brought full scale war as he lead his forces to massacre the small village of Nikki. When world reached the near-by city of Audian, the humans launched a counter strike. The small island with Nikki, Audian, and the dragons' cave became the center point of an all out war which would determain once and for all the planet's dominate race.
 
Sry'yxhad, was part of an eliete group of soldiers known as The Dragon Sword Masters (new name pending), The Dragon Sword Masters are basically the generals of the dragon army, let by the yellow dragon Vorthon who is said to be almost pure Shinro. Though during the raid on Nikki, Sry'yxhad turned on Vorthon and the other Dragon Sword Masters in hopes of stopping an innevitable war. His efforts were in vain. As punishment, his wings were removed and he was locked away in the dungeon for seven years, but most of all, his soulblade was hidden. A dragon sword master's blade is forged from their very soul, thus when his soulblade was removed, it as if he had lost his spirit, and in hand, his will to live.

All that changes as a group of human soldiers penitrate the dragons' cave. A few soldiers venture into the dungeons, killing off the guards, they come upon Sry'yxhad who is all chained up. As one of the soldiers holds a sword to the dragon's neck, Sry'yxhad hears a mystious voice in his head. He can't understand what it's saying, but it gives him the stregnth to break free of the chains and fight back. After the battle, Sry'yxhad puts the thought aside as he goes off to defend the rest of the cave. After succeeding, his punishment is lifted...

But what exactly are the Shinro and why did they apear, why is the war being dragged on, what is the shadow behind it, what was that voice Sry'yxhad heard, and how will the war end? It's all up to you...

Character Profiles:

Sry'yxhad
Race: Dragon
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Sry'yxhad was one of the 4 Dragon Sword Masters in command of the army. He has always had doubts on the fighting, but simply followed the orders of Vorthon, the commander. After his 'betrayal' he was stripped of his wings and soulblade, and sentenced to the dungeon for life. However, during the attack, he escaped and help fend off the humans, for this he was given a second chance.

Kyruto:
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Kyruto is a relitively young warrior that used to be in the Audian defence corp. However, he was inflicted with a certain ailment and banished himself to the forests around Nikki. Through his hardships, he has learned the values of peace and working together. Thus when he comes across Sry'yxhad, he joins him in hopes of ending the war. Though he still keeps his desease as a secret, hoping no one will discover the horrible truth.

Yara
Race: Human

Gender: Female
Age: 18
Yara is a Dragon Slayer hired by Audian, who soon becomes a commander of the defence corps. She thinks all dragons are inherantly evil, and thus wants to kill as many as she can. Thoughout the game she fights Sry'yxhad and party, and soon realizes she may be wrong after she isn't killed off after she loses.. twice.

Other Stuff and Features

A big part of this game is that it won't be a linear game. After a certain point, you can choose where to do and what to do for yourself. Well eventually you'll have to do certain things to move on, but the order in which you do them is up to you. You can also choose which side to fight on, the humans, the dragons, or you can remain nutrual. There'll never be an actual message that pops up saying "which side do you want to fight on", you're actions will basically determain this. No matter what path you pick, the endings will pretty much end the same way since I'm planning on making this a prequal to a differant game I was making (SilverFire).

You won't need to play This game to understand SilverFire, and you won't need to play SilverFire to know how this game ends, but playing both will be have its advantages. SilverFire takes place in the aftermaths of a war, this war. If you beat this game you'll get a password (the password will  be differnat depending on how you beat the game). Then during SilverFire you can use that password to travel to this island where you can do a bunch of cool things, including gaining Sry'yxhad's armour.

Battle System - I'll be using my 'customizable cbs' in my game (which shortly I release to everyone :)), it'll include animated monsters, timed hit attacks, limit breaks, combo attacks, stealing, scanning, mid battle party changing system, and an ally system. There won't be any critical hits or misses, or at least they won't be random. When you attack, you'll have to press the spacebar at the right time, if you're way off, you miss, if you're right on, its a critacal hit. If you've ever played Legend of Dragoon, it'll have a simular targeting system. Combo attacks are powerful attacks prefromed when two or three particular skills are preformed back to back. The same as in BOF4. And the ally system is my own invention. Ever play a game and fought a monster that you didn't want to kill? For me its dragons, as you have probably guessed by this game, I like dragons. In a lot of games, i go around, all of ths sudden this random dragon comes and attacks me, and what, I'm forced to KILL it? No fair. So in this game, besides running away, you can ally with monsters. If you ally with a monster, you can get some cool things such as items, advice, or even skills. You can also try and ally with bosses, major bosses won't ally with you, but the "end of the dungeon" can be allied with. Those bosses will give you more rewards if you ally with them, and some may even trigger a side quest. The downside to allying with an enemy is that you won't gain any exp, and you won't get the normal drop.

Monsters won't drop money either, they'll drop like a hide or something, and then you can go to the fur shop in town and trade it for money. Seriously, why would a random monster carry money with them? Human type enemies though will drop money like normal.

Mini Games
Yeah, there'll be a lot of mini games in here. Some are simple, some are very complex. One is a whole new battle system where you fly in the air and shoot down targets in a 3d environment kind of. THere'll be 8 dirrectional movement, pusing the left or right arrows will turn your angle, pusing the up or down arrows will make you go higher or lower. And well, you fight some battles like this.

Custom CG movies
I'm working on making some custom 3d movies for my game. I'm doing some practicing, but I'm not very good yet. Chances are I won't include any in the demo version, but I should have a few for the final version.

Voice Overs
Theres gonna be voice overs for all the party members in battle for all their moves and such. I guess like in Star Ocean 2. There was only voices for in battle stuff. This will be the same way.

Custom Message system
I don't use the defult message system because I think its too big and takes up too much of the screen. It also enters and leaves the screen differantly than the normal message system.

World Mini Map
Yeah I have a mini map on the world map like in most comercial games.

Shadows
I take a screenshot of my towns and such, draw in shadows, remove everything except the black, and desplay it as a picture, the result is neat looking shadow effects on everything. I only do it in towns, for other maps I just use generic shadows, fogs, or light effects.

Custom GFX
All my charaters are either custom made or edited for the game. I also include a varitety of poses for each one to give the game more life.

SCREENIES!!!
If you're like me, you've skipped right to this section and didn't even bother reading the story or anything else :p A lot of these screens aren't actual 'in game' shots. I've decied to finish all of the maps in the game before moving on to adding any more gameplay. So yeah, most of these are actual maps and not part of the actual gameplay.

This was from my old version where the town was called Megatown, it was a contrest entry game, so I didn't really care about the town name, but anyway, its changed now. The world map is also a little better, the screen is just meant to show the minimap and the other stuff that pops up when you get close to an area where you can enter.

CHARACTERS NEEDED

I need characters for my game, roughly 5-7. See, how my game is set up is that there is 3 main characters, and 7 secondary playable characters. The other 7 playable characters are characters that will only join your party if you go down a particular path in the game or do some action. Other characters, will join your party for a little while on certain missions, and leave later on, but you can do actions to keep them in your party or get them back later. In the end, there'll be 3 secondary characters and the 3 main characters in the party. You won't be able to get another one of the 4 characters unless one of your current members leaves the team. Each character will have their own background story and mission, I have it set up like this so that the player can play through the game multiply times and each time he/she will experiance something new.

But there is a problem, and this is where you guys come in. Each of my characters needs a voice actor for actions in battle. Finding voice actors can sometimes be a pain, so this is what I'm doing instead, if anyone wants to have a character in the game, they can submit a profile. By submitting a profile, you agree to voice act for that character, or have ALREADY found another to voice him/her for you. Along with a description of the character, you'll need to include background information, and a mission that their on. The mission can be whatever like searching for a cure for a friend or maybe to find a treasure or hunt down a bandit, it should just fit with your character. And I reserve the right to modify their mission and background to fit better with the game. This will NOT be a first come first serve deal. I'll pick characters that are better suited for my game, and mainly original ones. I'm not going to pick 7 guys with big swords to  be the characters. I believe character diversity is a big part in any game, so again, if a lot of characters are very simular, I'll only pick one of them. I'll also need both human and non human characters. Here is the format in which I'd like submissions. Note: It is in your best interest to include all information on the character, if their age is unknown, say unknown, but also tell me the actual age. Its hard for me to put a character in the game when the fields are 'unknown' to me as the creator :p

Gender: (I know it may sound wierd, but if you're a guy and want to have a female character, go right ahead. I have a program that will modify male voices to sound like female voices, it works very well. It doesn't work too good for female to male conversions though.

I use AV VCS Gold, though I don't know how to save any files, I can only play them in real time with the effects. I'll have to play around with it more.

Oh, and thanks Dragoon for including a Limit Break, I completely forgot about mentioning that :p

Let's say I want to make a character, but I don't have a microphone (or good voice). Can I ask someone else to voice him for me?

Your useage of pictures to create shadows is amazing. This certinly proves that hard work easily differs the bad games from the good.

BTW, WTF is up with the name "MegaTown"? :p

XD thanks.

Once upon a time, this project was a contest entry. The contest was 'World of [TR] members" TR standing for the site (Tantalus Resources). So I was going to make a game that was basically a town full of mini-games as you walked around with me. Thats why the hero used to be called DragonBlaze. Since it was a contest, I didn't care about the town name, so I just named it Megatown, for obvious reasons, its been renamed to Audian. I didn't get around to making the picture file of the audian name, so it still says megatown when you walk up to the town on the world map (which also went through a makeover since I took that screen).

Side: Dragons (Moderately, see below)
Class/Occupation: Thief/Spy (Spies as he works for upper class people)
Physical Description: Green eyes, light brown hair that droops a bit over his face, dark gray/black long sleeve shirt and pants, slender build (though I don't see how that could change from the same style charset). I can make this charset if you want.
Personality: Quiet and elusive around humans (where he normally is anyway), but is quick to speak with a dragon when he sees one (he can often tell dragons even in disguise)
Background info: He sees his own kind as corrupt by their rulership and how they single out groups they are against. He decided on this from three main events in his life. At one point, he had seen a friendly person of another race (no, we aren't talking about skin color here obviously) attempt to talk to an upper-class human who then immediately pulled a weapon. The second event involved similar circumstances, and the third event involved dragons before the war, who were forced away. When the war (which he saw as inevitable) first started, he was completely for the dragons, as he understood how they would be so upset. But when he saw human towns that hadn't done any wrong get attacked, he felt that the dragons were making a poor choice of strategy. So basically, he supports the dragons because he feels they aren't treated fairly, but is against the dragons' plans.
Goal/mission: To find a way to make peace between the dragons and humans with less casualties.
Weapons: Double short knives
Skills with descriptions:
Tetrastab - moves quickly to stab the enemy twice with each blade
Flame Tetrastab (Sry'yxhad combo) - Same as tetrastab but with an added fire bonus from Sry'yxhad's fire breath.
Conceal - becomes shrouded in mist from a smoke bomb in order to dodge enemy attacks more often
Charging Stab - holds both knives together and gets a running start to charge into the enemy, where he then stick them straight into the enemy and slashes them through the enemy to pull them out
Limit Break:
Assassinate - disappears in a smoke cloud and secretly swiftly attacks the enemy to deal high damage (I was also thinking of throwing in a randomizer for a low chance of even instant death?)

If the info about my character doesn't really line up with the story (about his feelings), just say so and I'll tweak it.

I didn't have time to really read through coaster's and dragoon's replies before I made my first one since I was on the phone when I typed it and just got off now :(

Anyway, I don't think I'll be using BLOOD. When I said a new name, I meant like some made up word that 'translated' would mean Dragon Sword Master. I didn't want to use the term Dragon Sword Master as 'the actual' term because I find it corny and kinda blah. Blood also sounds kind of like an evil term and all, and the Dragon Sword Masters or the dragons aren't evil at all, the actual war was inevitable, and it was both sides fault. Though Vorthon was the one pushed it over the edge. Thanks for giving it thought anywayz. :)

Oh, and your comment about the character's build coaster, it doesn't matter for the charset, but it will matter for the large sprite overlays I use in battle if you remember them from my previous cbs. Plus I'll use those as facesets. :)

If you do have a charset, you might as well submit it. Same goes for anyone else who submitted or is planning to submit a character. If you don't have one, thats ok, if I use that character in the game, I'll just make the charset.

Heres examples of the large sprites I make for the characters, note that Kyruto's is just an edit from a KH sprite, don't know what character though. Sry's and Yara's are 100% original.

Heres an example of how the sprites are used in battle, when skills are preformed, the large sprites are displayed over the character (semi-transparent), and they preform the skills. Note that this is my OLD CBS, not the one I am currently using.

NOTES:
Jon is what Sry'yxahd call's him not his real name.
Being a wolf you just need wolf noises.
He can learn other skills from other Wolf/Dog kind monsters.

Excellent, DB's restarting his project! Makes me want to do something in RPG Maker...

In any case, I have a character profile. I don't really care if you use it or not, but since it came to me in a random flash, I feel compelled to post it :D

Class/Occupation: Wandering priestess
Physical Description: Tall (about 6"7), muscular, and has fair skin with a tinge of green. Wears a pair of baggy red pants and a red top, and also wears silver arm-braces. Has blue eyes and long dark-colored hair tied back.
Personality: Is cold and callous, and has a superiority complex.
Background info:
Asael is of unknown origin; she claims to be part Human and part Dragon, although the specifics of that are unknown even to her. She believes that a higher figure (god, if you have a polythesic religion in your world) sent her to bridge the gap between the two races, and wanders the world searching for companions willing to aid her in bringing them together again.
Weapons: Fists, natural claws, quarterstaves
Skills with descriptions
Dragon Punch (a powerful multiple-hitting punching tech)
Dragon Kick (a single-hitting powerful kick)
Charge (uses static electricity to deal damage to one enemy)
Prayer (kills undead instantly and damages dark-affinity creatures)

Releases high-freqeuency waves of energy that do massive damage to water-based creatures (even things like humans that have water in them), and instantly disables mechanical enemies.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of her, but if necessary, I can whip up a quick MS Paint sketch to give you an idea of what I'm imagining. And I'm also planning on getting a mic soon, so if you need me to voice-act for another character (I doubt my voice is suited for this one :)), I should be able to.

Background info:After he was kicked out of the church, for killing sinners(name and faith can be decied by you), he went on a holy crusade to stop all he thought was evil.

Physical Description: Biopedal, 5'1 feet tall and with a weight at 372 lbs.His scales are dark-red, but the body itself is orange. His face is a mix of a lizards and a dragon, but he never got any horns. His eyes are like the lizards, big and yellow, the shape and mouth are more Dragon than lizard but still not completly dragon. The neck is short and doesn´t have any of the Dragon scales, just the orange lizard skin. But the body is unfortunaly more lizard, the tail is very short for a Dragon but pretty normal for a lizard, the feets are just like the geckos, that´s why he wear boots.
He wears a dark-gray armourset (breastplate,gauntlets,greaves,boots, gardbrace,poleyon,belt) and a gark-green cape.
Personality: Always help the people in need, but if he have to choose side between Human and Dragon he will walk away with the question unrequited. He will aid the one who help him out and never leave his tasks unfinished, if he make a promise, he will keep it.
He love the taste of boars, hot places, his house, fire and waking up to the sound of a bell. But he hate arrogant and discriminating people, taste of insects, to fly, earthquakes and leeches.
Background info: Cadrelagon was born as a very small dragon. At young age he was able to defend himself and his brothers and sister from some city people. He did not knew who they were or why they came, he only did his job in the family. Cadrelagon had a disease that prevented his wings from growing, most other Shinros made fun of him because of it, and of course his lizard linage too.
But they all grew up, later many of them started to leave, and Cadrelagon was left with his younger brother Zlizardus.
After some years in a nearby village studying the ways of mankind Cadrelagon was able to speak the common language. They kept a very low profile and nearly no- one noticed them, but one day they got seperated and Zlizardus dissapeared. Cadrelagon decided later on to do things on his own, but the only thing he is good for is defending people. But after a while he realized that he need his younger brother and set out on a search for him
Goal/mission:Find his long-lost brother and protect the weak.
Weapons:Axes, rather big, sometimes larger than himself. Also use shields.
Skills with descriptions:
Flame Spit: Because of his half-dragon linage he is able to shoot sparks of fire from his mouth. Fire attribute, one target, weak.
Shockwave: Dashing the ground with his axe, stun target and might damage. Stun effect, weak.
Cold Blooded: Increase his own fire protection. Fire ress.
Absorb: Leech some health from a non-machine/golem/plant kind of enemy. Hp absorb.
Limit Break:
Dragon Spirit:
The spirit of his father grant him a pair of fiery wings for just enough time to fly up to an opponent and slice it three times with his axe. Large damage, fire attribute, might burn.
Others:His wings are to small to carry him so he keep them hidden under his cape, it is a shame for him and he hate the people who have made fun of him for it. His body got the strength of a smaller dragon but the apearance of a lizard, it is thanks to his dragon genes that he is even able to carry his axe.
The shield is attached to a bracelet on one of his hands and allow him to hold the axe with both hands.

Well I´ll try to atleast edit something to give you the idea of his looks, I could do a charset but then I need those cool dragon heads that yours have.
And well I hope this is good enough.
I have a mic, but I have no idea how to record it with good sound, you can´t really tell what I´m saying.

BTW: That edited KH CoM char is Zexion, one of the Unknowns.

I didn't say no humans, err at least I don't think I said that. I did say that if you were a human, you wouldn't have to describe your race because I don't think thats really necisarry :p I also said that I'll pick characters that are more diverse, and thus if a lot of characters are simular in aspecs (such as race) only a couple of them would be used since I don't want a lot of simular characters.

But yeah, humans are fine :)

Well I still need sounds for the character even if he can't talk. However, for sounds for your character, you would probably just be able to find some dog sounds on the internet or something.

If you're character can talk and you don't have a mic, well then you'll have to find someone to act for your char in your place.

You don't need good sound, just something clear enough to understand. I can edit out all the static and such and add effects to make it sound a lot better.

Like I said before, actual voices wouldn't be a problem with your character and his moves.

The problem would be that if he can't talk, it would be hard to tie him in with the story and all. However, I do like the idea of having a wolf type character and I could tie that concept into the story rather well.

I'm going to send you a PM so we can talk about that issue in private. That way IF you're character is chosen, there won't be a big spoiler on him in this thead :p

The problem is that I'm already doing the VO's for Sry'yxhad. I can't do them for any more chars. You can probably still tell if two characters are played by the same person.

So yeah, I'm sorry but if you don't have a mic or can't get voices for Void, I won't be able to include him in the game.

Raining daggers:Jumps in the air (select a weapon to throw [must have multiple of them] you have 5 seconds to tap a button as may times as possible to throw them [simmular to irvines limit break in FF8])
Limit Break:Silent touch: screen goes dark and he dissapears and appears from behid the enemy lunging at them with his knives/daggers slicing through them.

Yeah, I doubt they'll have the names for the skills you use their. Like when Sry'yxhad use the skill Fire Breath, He says "Burn up, Fire breath!". The voices for all the characters are going to be like this, it would by highly imporbably that phylomotis has english parts that would match.

Besides, if he's the main char in your game, it would probably be best just to keep him in your game instead of having the same char in this one. It would be like me putting a char like Cloud from FF7 in my game, it wouldn't be right.

Class/Occupation: A Mage/Blacksmith Combination.
Physical Description: Very tall and very thin. His eyes are Sky blue, his hair is Black, but the way that light reflects off of it makes it look blue (Meaning his hair is blue :p) He has a short, scruffy beard, and wears a Strange, white, sleeveless robe. His right arm is clad in armor.
Personality: Reserved. He talks little and tries to not attract much attention. Despite such an intuectually suited personality, he will do nearly anything to get his hands on money.
Background info:Once a poor magician who lived in a small village, Darkalapan has now moved to a big city, crafting strange, unique weapons out of water, which he would later transmute to steel, all using the force of magic. However, for all his years, his weapons have been just a tiny bit worse than stock weapons that local blacksmiths, so he set out on his mission.
Goal/mission:To get enough money through sale of his weaponry, and go back to his village, hopefully to become it's cheif, and lead it to become a successful city.
Weapons:Only one; A ball of enchanted water that floats within Darkalapan's hand. This ball can turn into many a material, and so many exotic weapons that he has invented. As Darkalapan levels up, He gains the ability to transmute this enchanted water into better and better materials, starting at bronze weaponry.
Skills with descriptions:

Transmute-
Any item you don't need can be turned into spare currency.

Splash dart-
He splashes his water all over enemies, which, right before contact, turn into metal darts.

Puddle-
Darkalapan slpashes the water onto the ground in front of him. If any enemy tries to attack him when the puddle is infront of him, They will get impaled by metal spikes.

Waterfall-
Darkalapan's water forms a waterfall infront of your party, which solidifies into metal and offers as protection. You can't be hurt by enemies, but you can't hurt them either.

Water Flower-
One of many of his "Water Weapon" abilities, Darkalapan will turn his ball into a small, but telescopic device, which can stab its head into the heart of enemies, then flower out to open up the cut more. All of Darkalapan's weapons turn back into the water ball when he unequips the Weapon.

Limit Break:
Iron Falcon-
Darkalapan's water turns into a metal falcon. Despite the fact that it is made of metal, it can still fly and move, and will automatically attack one enemy for extreme damage. Iron Falcon isn't a summon, and will only last for one turn.

I can voiceact this guy... In fact, I could voiceact most Male Characters that need it.

Personality: In this life, one thing counts; in the bank, large amounts.
Background info: Doesn't talk about his past a lot, but I know because I invented him. His wife, daughter and son were killed in a fire he doesn't talk about. He left his home town to make money and to get over the pain.
Goal/mission: Find a purpose.
Weapons: Two blessed bayonets.
Skills with descriptions: (Keep it 10 or under)

Rock Bottom: Does two backflips and kicks and enemy in the chin. and slices their exposed throat in a way that makes blood shoot everywhere.

Hopeless: Sticks bayonets into an enemy and punches it in the face 40 times. Prys out the bayonets and walks away.

Be My Girl: Cuts in a heart shaped fashion and then punches the in the face with bayonet in hand.

Limit Break: Melodrama
An overwhelming stream of blood rockets from his palms at the enemies.

Your char is decent, but isn't it just an rtp edit basically so far? I'm like one of those big anti-rtp  people, at least when it comes to my own game. I don't even want rtp armour on an original charset. If you want to make it, go for it. But chances are that if your char is picked, I'll just make my own original charset for your character that doesn't have any rtp elements.

That'd be great if you could voice act other characters as well :), however if you do, you have to be able to change your voice enough so that it sounds like a whole new person, not just you again.

Cool :) Though sound-manipulation programs will only do so much, I mean, though you can change how your voice sounds, you're accent will still be the same, and the mannor you talk will still be the same. SO yeah, you could do more than one character, though if you do a lot, people may be able to tell that they were done by the same person. We'll have to talk more when the chars are chosen and when I have a better idea of who needs voices and such :)

Down slice;flies above enemy and slices down onto them
Quick slice; flies strait twards the enemy and slashes.

Update!

Character submissions need to be in by tomarrow (Friday march 10th). I'll be making my final decisions saturday, and posting the results and which characters will appear in the game.

I also want to note that if a character someone submitted has not been chosen, they can still do VO's for characters or enemies. The characters that aren't chosen aren't chosen simply because they simply just don't fit in the game or will work as well in the game as the other characters, its not that the character itself is bad or anything, its just that it won't work out too well.

Thats everything for now :)

Name: Sauren Tavigard
Race: Cadarak (A race that was created when a Human mated with an Angel. (Go fig :p))
Gender: 100% M-male
Age: 23
Side: Nuetral
Class/Occupation: Scarlet mage.
Physical Description: One blue eye, one green eye, blonde hair, hair down to his lower back (cutting the hair of a Cadarak can possibly kill it), *clothes shown on the charset*, thin and slim with little muscle.
Personality: Sauren is a kind and warm hearted guy.  It's not in his nature to kill something for no reason.  If there is an insect in his path...he would rather walk around it then step on it.  But when he has to defend himself or those he cares for, he is quick to react ans shows no mercy at all.
Background info: When Sauren was young, his mother died of an internal illness.  She was the Human parent, and since she dies, Sauren has had to live with his father.  Although his father was an Angel, he thought it would be best to stay on the surface to raise Sauren as a normal child.  One day though, on a radicaly thunderous night, there was a fire in their village.  Unfortunately, Saurens house was set on fire.  His father had no way out, and with his last breath, called upon the heavens, to save his son.  They had granted his wish, and it was almost too late.  Some fire had touched Saurens hair, and almost killed him. (Sorry it was so long)
Goal/mission:Saurens goal is to find a place where he can have the life his parents wanted him to have.  To not let his fathers sacrafice be in vain.  Also, it's to do as much good as he can.  Being the Hero to people if you will.  But not publicly.
Weapons: Uses chains, which, if combined with his Scarlet magic, change forms.  Each from though has a blackish purplish tinit to it though, and is weaker then a normal version of it.
Skills with descriptions:
1. Chain whip- Whips chain forward to stike the enemy.
2. Barred fist- Chain raps around his fist and maic emmits from it, increasing his strength.
3. Whip Trip- Wraps chain around enemy's legs and trips it.
4. Scarlet Cannon- Shoots a long blast of magic from his palms.
Limit Break: I.V. Burst- Swings chain in a circle, rapidly.  Shoots the chain at the enemy, piercing it.  While holding onto the chain with one hand, the other hand shoots an immense shot of magic at the chain, which travels through the metal, hitting the enemy from within.

Personality: Serious, violent, and yet calm and peaceful at the same time.
Background info: He seems to be a knight in service to an unknown guard. The gold crucifix which adorns his left shoulder hints toward the fact that he is from a mysterious religion, with goals unknown.
Goal/mission: Unknown to most, but most likely somehow related to creating a  peace etween the people.
Weapons: Broadsword which he is able to charge with holy magic, creating a myriad of shining techniques as they're called
Skills with descriptions:
Light Break- He charges his blade in immense holy magic, slamming it into his enemy to break their denfense
Shining Thrust- A thrusting attack, that when charged with magic, pierces throught the enemy
Holy Might- Similar to Light Break, but not only breaks defense but does immense damage.
Limit Break: Lighting of the Halls- He bares his blade to the sky, parting the above to shine an incredible light upon his enemies. He throws his sword towards his enemy, hitting them with an incredible blast of light magic.

Well first you need to know how to use pictures and how to use variables. Then you need a picture file of the map. Display a picture of the map at the lower right hand of the screen, or where ever you want it. Then set two variables to the x and y position of the hero, display a picture of the cursor or blinker (or whatver) at that possition. Put it in a parallel process event on the world map.

You'll notice as you walk around, you'll have the map, and you'll have the cursor, the cursor moves, but its not on top of the map. To fix this, after you set the two variables to the x and y coordinates, and before you display the cursor pic, add about 100 to the x, and a 100 to the y. It still won't be at the right possition, but it'll be closer. Just keep modifying the number you add until its in the right place.

If you only want the cursor to move one pixal for every two tiles or something, you'll have to divide the x and y by 2 I think.

Gah, well if you didn't get that, just go to blade2k.net, look in the tutorials section, and i think they have a tutorial on how to make a mini map.

I just got a quick update here, I'm probably going to add a catapiller system or something like that to the game. I never thought about it before since in most catapiller systems you need to make the first two or three events on every map the 'catapiller chars' events. Then I was just fooling around yestureday, and I build a system of my own that the events can have any ID. Maybe most catapiller systems are like this, I don't know.

I like the idea of a catapiller system because then you're actually able to see the members in your party. It makes it seem more like the other characters are involved in the game, or at least thats what I think.

Anyway, I most likely won't be using a regular catapiller system, since theres actually going to be 6 people in the party, I would want 5 people following the hero, which if they were in a line, it would look very funny. So I'm going to try making a more 'advanced' system. Instead of them all following the hero in a line, they'll loosly follow him. Each will have their own 'pathfinder' AI so they'll be able to find their way around objects and such. It'll be a much more realistic catapiller system, and it wouldn't look as weird as having a line of 6 characters walking in a row. Though if it still looks funny after I build it, then I just won't use it, or I may use a catapiller system where only the first 3 characters will be shown.

Lol, sorry to keep you guys waiting, but I was working early this morning collecting sap from trees :-p

Anyway, I just spent an hour or so going through all the character profiles and making all my final decisions. It was really hard because basically all the characters were good by themselves, so i had to go though and decide which characters would work best with my plot and which characters could contribute to my story. So yeah, it took a while but I finally made my choices.

Before I post which characters made it, let me just say that if your character didn't make the cut to be a playable character, I'll still put them in the game as an npc (if you want) just because all the chars were good and they deserve to at least be in the game, even if they don't play a major role in it. Also, you'll still be able to voice act for enemies or my two other secondary characters (Keckshio and Sal'ahhadra) which I need to include because they play vital roles in my story.

So here's the moment you've all been waiting for, the characters that have been chosen to be playable characters in the game :)

Tacitus - coasterkrazy
Asael - Warxe_PhoenixBlade
Jon - shadus
Cadrelagon - Prpl_Mage
Darkalapan - Bluhman (with the slight change that he'll be on the humans side for the most part)
Ritter - neb87
Matamos - Spike21


Thats all :( Remember, decisions were based on how well they would work in the story and not necisarrily how good the profile was. I believe that the characters that weren't chosen have the right to know why they weren't, so I'll post why here.

Void - Dragoon de Sol. I like the char, but since he's the main char in your game, I don't want to include him in this one, plus you don't have a mic, so you can't do VOs for him.

Gaara - Meiscool. The char sounds interesting, but theres not much info on him, and I'd be hard to work a character into the game and tie him to the story.

Wesker - Shadowless1. Your character is good, and I like him, but dark/silent/mysterous/murderous type of characters just won't fit right in my game.

Kirin - MrMister. Your character is, err, interesting, I just don't think it'll work out though.

Sauren Tavigard - Linkforce. It was a tough decission for your character. He would've fit in the game, but I only had so many open possitions, and what it came down to was that though your character would have fit with the story, he wouldn't have been able to contribute to it as much as some other characters :(


Now, there are two more characters that were submitten that would work out really good in my game, just not as playable characters. So they'll still play a big role in my game and be a big part of it, they just won't be playable.

Singhin Kirsehn - A character like this will work very well beside the main character and party, but not with them. I do have an outside force like the one from your profile in the game, so I'm planning on tieing him with that.

Nak'xi - A character like this would work out very well doing stuff like spywork and such for the dragons since he is on their side and well he is a changling :p Though it would work out best if he worked dirrectly under Vorthon (Zersevick). No matter if you side with the dragons or humans in the game, Vorthon will turn out to be your enemy. In short, since Nak'xi will work under Vorthon, he'll make a great antagonist during the game, especially if you side with the humans. Since your character will appear as an enemy, I will still need voices for him.


Ok, that should be everyone. I just want to say thanks to everyone who submitted a profile.

If your character didn't get picked, or if you want to do some voice overs, I'll need voices for Keckshio (male) and Sal'ahhadra (female). I'll also need voices for various enemies throughout the game, so if you want to voice anyone, let me know :).

If your character did get picked, this is what I'll need for voices.

Attacking voice (hiya for example)
Getting hit voice
Dieing voice
Beginning battle voice (one of the three characters in battle will say a beginning battle phrase at random at the start of a battle, an example would be 'here they come' 'get ready' or 'this is going to be easy', try and say something that will fit your character ;))
Move voices - The character will say the name of their move (or a phrase and then the move) for every move they have. An example would be Sry'yxhad using fire breath, he says "Burn up! Fire Breath!" which would be a prase and the name of the move. You could also just say the name (example: "Fire Breath!") and it'd be just as good.
Victory voice: like the beginning battle voice it'll be random, say something like "yeah, we did it!" or whatever.
Retreat voice: same random idea, say something like "lets get out of here!"

Once you have them, send them to me so I can add the final effects and add them to my game. You can e-mail the voices to me at drgnblazex@aol.com you can send them through AIM (drgnblazex) or MSN (drgnblazex@aol.com) upload them here in this topic, or you can upload them to a site and give me the link here or through a PM. If you send them to me via MSN or AIM, I have dail up so it may take some time to send (15 mins per 5 mbs).

You don't need to be in a hurry to do this. I know its hard to find time to voice act, especially if you're one of those people (like me) who has to wait till you're home alond to do voice overs since you don't want everyone else in your family to think you're nuts for shouting things like "hiya!" in your room :p. So yeah, theres no need to hurry, but I would like the voices done sometime within a month so I can add them to the demo which hopefully won't be that long.

I´m one of those people, but my brother have been sick and lying in bed during this week so that was reason enough not to record any VO. But now when he is fine again his gf is here so...Well I don´t want to embarrass myself and my brother so...

I know exactly how you feel. The ones I already did I did alone, so I'll have to either get lucky again or do them when people are home somehow to finish them.

DragonBlaze, I was thinking about maybe adding a skill or two because I don't have very many. Do you think Tacitus could have a steal command to go along with a low number of skills?

I don't think I would need a voice for your char, though that might change as in I may make a path where the party ends up fighting your char, but as of now, I'm planning on them to be kinda allys no matter what. If you have a charset, that'll be great. If you already have a faceset, you might as well send it over, but I won't actually use it in the game. My facesets are a completely differant style than the defult sytle faces (the faces in my cbs in my siggy is more what my faces will look like). So a faceset would just be a referance for me to use when making that face. Otherwise, I'm not sure yet whether or not I'm going to actually use facesets outside of the battle and menu, so one really wouldn't be necisary right now.

So yeah, in short, all i need is a charset :) Though if you don't have one, I have no problem in making it on my own.

Charsets are in rtp style basically, so basically any normal charset will work.

I'll attach the facesets to this post. Though my facesets are dirived from large sprites I make in ms paint for the characters that I use for special battle moves. The sprites are about 80 x 40 pixals. Though I won't be using the whole body for the facesets, it may be easier to design a whole body picture. Iits up to you whether you want to do it or not and how you want to do it :)

So heres the facesets I've made for my 3 main characters.

Well first you need to know how to use pictures and how to use variables. Then you need a picture file of the map. Display a picture of the map at the lower right hand of the screen, or where ever you want it. And don't worry about the gfx spike, like I said, I have no problem in making the char graphics myself.

Muraiko its actually a very simple system, it only requires 5 commands, I'll attach what my event looks like. The hardest part is getting an acurate image of your world map. What I did was veiwed my map at 1/8, took a screen shot, and used that.

Note: my variable names are messed up, pretend [mon attack input] is actually [cursor x] and the other variable is [cursor y]. Lol, I just realized that theres actually 7 commands, though one is just a wait command to keep it from lagging.

.: Demo Progress :.

Ok, I'm working hard on making a demo for this game, and I thought I might as well post some info on it and such.

What the demo will include: For those of you who have played my previous demo, this demo won't really go any further into the plot, however, the plot has changed quit a bit, and though you'll end at the same event, how you get to that event will differ greatly.

The last demo had you start off on a mission to collect fish from the underground lake. Afterwards you get a new mission to attack the city by placing stones in strategic locations, in order to do this you had to find a way into the upper city. After you did so, you finished the job, the attack started, you had to defeat any leftover soldiers from the original attack, and then you had to storm the castle. All in all it was pretty strieght forward, near the end, it started to hint at something a little deeper than what it seemed thus far.

This new demo will start off differant, you'll spend a little more time in the original cave where I'll spend more time introducing the main character, the setting, and the gameplay. Afterwards you'll still go to the city, but you'll have a differant mission that requires a lot more tasks, there'll be differant ways to accomplish the tasks and differant characters may join your party depending on which path you take. Then it'll end with the same event, but this time you'll have more of a choice in what you'll do in that event, this is just a demo, but the choice you make here in the actual game will start you off on differant paths. Again, I'll hint at deeper things in the plot, it'll kinda follow the same princable as I used in my last demo, but it'll end up being completely differant. In the end, this demo will be much more extensive, and i planning it will be over twice as long as the first one. Plus it'll have my updated battle system, my updated maps, and all my other updated stuff. I don't want to give anything away, so I'm being very vauge on this.

Though technically I am much futher in the game than that event that ended the first demo now, I don't want to go any further into it during my demo. First reason being that for the next portion in my game, you'll have a lot of choices on what you want to do and when you want to do them, so I need the WHOLE part of the game done before i can show any of it off, otherwise it really won't reflect the actual game acurately. On top of that, a demo isn't really meant to go as far into the plot as you can, its more of showing what the game will be like, introducing the story, and showing some features. So after this demo, I won't release any more demos until I am done with the whole game.

I'm hoping to get the demo done in 1-2 months. In order to finish it, i'll need to do the following.

Finish the new battle system (75% complete) - I'm using a modified version of my customizable cbs, right now that is more like 85% complete.

Finish the new intro (25% complete) - Since I'm starting the game off differantly, I need a new intro. All in all, an intro shouldn't take me more than a few full days to make.

Finish the interior maps in my town (5% complete) - I'm remaking the whole town, I did the outside maps, now i need to make the coorisponding inside maps.

Finish the events in the town (60% complete) - I made random npcs and such in my down, but I don't have my key npcs made yet nor the events that will move on with the story.

I'm a little confused. It looks like there are only three cities fighting. What about the rest of the world?

Other then that, everything else looks great.

Don't worry, it involves more than 3 cities :) The whole world was basically at 'war' for many years before this. While some regeons had full scale wars, others just had skirmishes and littler stuff. Anyway, the battles were cooling down, and everything seemed to be getting better. However, on a small continent (or large island, however you want to look at it), there was a massacre in the town of Nikki, and everything started up. So basically the three cities have become the focus of the war and where the fighting was the most intence. Both sides began to gather troops there and it was getting really big.

So basically, what happens there will have a deep impact on how the war turns out, but it doesn't mean that other areas aren't involved with the war either.

DB, ur a king of men! I'm soo looking forward to this game, and getting my grubby mits on thr CBS. I've been monitoring this topic for a while (not posted siince im an arse) but you cant know the anticipation i feel!
