I've looked everywhere on the forum and can't find any solution to my problem.
I used The GIMP to edit all of my pictures, especially the .PNG files for RPG Maker 2k3, the problem is that whenever I save the .PNG file and load it into RPGM, it ends up looking black. I found a "solution" that doesn't really help out at all, it just screws up the tiles. How do I go about saving the file without it screwing up?

I'm guessing when you save it, your saving it with 16 bit or a 24 bit color depth. Rm2k/3 only allows images with a color depth of 256 colors to be used. Though if you try to import the set with rm2k/3 you should get an error about invalid color depth, though if you would just paste them in the game folder, they'll apear as blank black images that can't be used.
I use photoshop to reduce the color depth of images, I don't know if GIMP can do it or now, and I don't know any free programs off hand that can do it, but I'm sure they're out there if you search google or something.

Use UFX

Friggin' MSPaint. It's free, doesn't involve downloading shi*poink*, and it's good enough. And it always works.
