Title: Souls of Eternity
Post by: CoolZidane on March 16, 2006, 06:48:43 PM
I am Laz'rus, risen from the grave. Yes, I'm back.

Anyways, my friend and I are working on a new game, "Souls of Eternity."

The game is about young man, Adam, as he and others fight to prevent evil of the present to repeat the future.

It starts with Adam and his friend, Carlos, as they go to sell a diamond (nothing special about it) in a nearby town. However, after being mugged by bandits, they meet a cleric named Elena. She is delivering medicine to the town of Nekido. They stay at the Inn of Nekido, but are awoken during the night by an argument in the lobby. Two mysterious men, Xerve and Pomades, are searching for a rogue mage. Adam drives them away, but the heroes are left with questions: Who are those two? Who is the rogue mage? Why are they looking for the mage?

Find out in Souls of Eternity.

Characters:

Adam
Age: 21
Sex: Male
Bio: The hero of the game, he is sometimes reckless, but he knows to stick up for his friends

Carlos
Age: 22
Sex: Male
Bio: Adam's best friend

Elena
Age: 20
Sex: Female
Bio: Cleric who is often able to stand her ground (but not always)

Zalo
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Bio: A man skilled in various arts who has learned from Sudhir, a Wise Man who knows more than he tells

Alexander
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Bio: The leader of the Danias (Adam's hometown) Malitia, he is somewhat stubborn, but knows how to work with a team

Grace
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Bio: A travelling summoner, she is clumsy, but still a good fighter

Inox
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Bio: A monk from the Temple of the Elders, he longs to see the world.

The character descriptions are sketchy, but I'm not the best at describing characters without spoiling the story.

By the way, this thread has music (written by me) that is featured in the game:

I'm sorry to say, but just one line on the story is not nearly enough for anyone to really even know what your game is about and what it'll be like. So yeah, you should really include a lot more info.

Yeah, geez, you silly yes-man!

Anyway... Yeah. We'll need more info to make a statement on your game, unless this game is very early on into creation...

I've revised the plot information.

So far, the plot is interesting, but there's still not enough info to give us a fresh idea on what the game will be like, at least in my opinion. Try putting in some background info (about the world they live in, beings that live in the world, etc.)

Other than that, I hope this game will flourish into greatness!

Yeah I agree.

Though I do believe your game does start off good :)

Yeah thats nice. In most cultures being 18 is considered an adult, so I wouldn't mind anyone that age. But yeah, its nice to see a game withough a bunch of heros being 14 -17, which I'm starting to see a lot.

One main motivation for it was the constant use of teens as heroes. Another motivation was that the hero wakes up with a hangover. So, to create an excuse, we made Adam 21.

Well if all game makers where Jewish 13 be the age of adulthood.
But 13 is rather young and dosn't make good hero.In most FF's they make the hero 17 to 23 years old Excpt in ff4 where he was a old guy in his 40's.That's what he looked like any way.

Ummm, Cecil was 20, one year younger than kain, how you thought he was around 40 is beyond me.

Now I agree; ages 20-30 is a good range, but, well, It's rahter a small range. I mean, Almost all of your characters are near the age of 21. Not that you have to change it, it just seems that the majority of characters are in a very tight age range.

The demo is still in progress. I've been busy with rehearsals and whatnot. However, since I'm on Spring Break, I'm going to get back to working on the game.

It looks good, but you have a bit of a square map problem. Try un-squaring those trees and the water.

The game is still in progress, but we haven't really had time to work on many maps.

To keep you occupied, here is some music from the game.

This is Adam's Theme.

As for the last two screens.

screen 1: It's not half bad, but for a forest, ti seems to have a little too much open space, unless of course, that lake is bigger than I can see. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Screen 2: I use that same chipset in my game, and I gotta tell you, you may not want to use the holes in the ground, it gives the map an odd feel to it. Also, the tiles are pretty gruesome too.

For the music. It's not bad, but I think you need some variation. Maybe trying using different beats, or putting them in different times, or something. I'd also suggest panning your instruments or tracks to either the left or right speaker. It'll give your songs less crackle and mroe depth, the same affect an also be achieved by lowering an instrument or track's volume. This of course, depends on what program you use to make your MIDIs. If you use Noteworthy, I don't think you can do either the volume or panning. But I know you can with Anvil. Oh, one other thing.

Harmony It seems your songs have a lot of instruments playing the same note. If you mix the notes up while keeping them in harmony, it will greatly change the sound of your songs. Either better or worse, can't hurt to try.

All and all, not bad. All it needs is some tweeks, just like any game. goodluck, I'll keep an eye on this.
