Title: The Ultimate Innovation
Post by: Monsterfurby on March 27, 2006, 05:51:11 PM
Imagine you had a professional-budget development team at you hand and had to develop a console-style RPG for, say, the DS or a similar system. There's just one catch: you have to put in one utterly revolutionary feature that has never been seen before in this shape in any RPG.

My question now is: what feature would you add? Realistic interaction with group members? Strategic battle with special controls? What would it be?

I'd put a character creation system like the ones you see in WWE Smackdown Series

Already been done, play morrowind for the pc and download the better bodies mod (a mod that retexturizes all the people to make them look more realistic). It makes the game look a ton better, but if for some reason you'd want to take all your cloaths off or strip a corpse.. yeah...

Not that I do that of course :p

Anyway... I'd make completely AI characters that you could talk with and command and such via a microphone ;) Just don't tell them they're not real, otherwise they'd get mad and sabatoge the game.

Well there's an option somewhere that allows you to turn undergarments on.

But I don't. HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!

But that would only further the idiotic view that women are only objects, and all that.

Also, if you get off a polygonal bewbies, then it's time to get away from technology.

Morrowind's a great game. Oblivion is insane.

But for the record, you people need to get girlfriends, or at least get laid.

Anyways, onto the topic...

I would make an SBS (Sudoku Battle System), where before you attack you can choose what level of sudoku puzzle you can do. The hardest is determined by your level. If you complete it, you'll do damage to the enemy. The harder the sudoku, the more damage.

Sing into a microphone to tip the guitar to move Kirby onto the bongo drums that swing Donkey Kong into the sunlight to power your light gun, that you use to shoot ducks that you drew yourself.

...

AUGH!

Ultimate Innovation? I can think of a few. But the best would be the Chuck Norris System, which would simply cause Chuck Norris to appear out of nowhere and roundhouse your system for 99999999 damage. But that level of awesome cannot be contained. But for a real innovation? I'd make it so that any game, any system could be edited by anyone. I think that'd make gaming alot more interesting, although we'd get uber-spammed with FF7 mods, most of which involve either Aeris not dieng, or Cloud having a larger Sword.

Guns actually do more damage than swords and other melee weapons.

I would put in my favorite thing to code in RPG Maker. The spell ring!

This would use the touch system pretty well, because you would use the pen to move the ring and use the buttons to cast magic.

Think sorta like FF crystal Chronicals if you don't get what I mean.

One thing? I would have it so that you can play an RPG like you REALLY WOULD! That means none of that this guy can tell you about b;ah blah ONLY IF you have a certain item crap. You'd be able to go up to him and say: "So, do you know anything about blah blah?" Instead of him always just saying "I like pie" Until you get some item.

Now THERE's an idea that should be used. But then again....maybe he really likes pie?

Bullets are uneffected by defense. Really, who cares how many slimes you've killed? A gun is going to do the same amount of damage when you're wearing baggy pants and a white tee with leather suspenders.

Pie is a curse from satain that makes people fat..Last time I said that My wacko Exsupgrandmother gave me a bible lesson on how it's a good thing to be fat.Now my Dad and exstepmother are getting un-hiched.

Pie is a gift from god. Not a curse from satain, who must have alot of awkward moments with a name so close to satan, or stan  :D And sorry about the whole dad-exstepmom thing, hope it works out.

Odd. Just as I read this I was listening to "The Ultimate Showdown". Now that's creepy.

When casting an offensive spell, you see your targets in first person and keep the aim on them 5 sec or whatever the spell is to fire it succesfully :)

"Chuck Norris was in the beta of Street fighter 2, but all the buttons caused him to do a roundhouse kick and instantly K.O the enemy player. When asked about this bug by the testers, Chuck norris replied: Thats no bug"

If and when I ever get around to making Draknitis, New Game+ mode will give the hero a skill to become invincible and have maxed-out attack (read: become a god), and go through the game like that. :)

Otherwise, as ZKX said, asking questions to the NPCs to get sidequests and stuff.

An option to have your character, when they are killed, to venture through the world of the dead so they can gain the right to live again.

Needless to say, Phoenix Down's do not work, as, well, they only exist in the numerous Final Fantasy universes.

That's a good idea, but Ubisoft's already doing something like that. And Squenix already announced a Crystal Chronicles heir for DS. Just like they announced (the real) FF3 on the DS. Don't know when those'll come out, but CC is BOUND to use the stylus.

Uh, I'd have a weird cross between an FPS and an RPG that doesn't end up too much like a class-based shooter, Rainbow Six: Lockdown, or Morrowind. Yeah, it'd be hard to do, but I've been thinking about how it could work well for over five years. It's a shame I don't have the technology to put it into action... And (if it's not already a PC game) a fully useable, streamlined creator that would allow level, character, weapon, mission, and mod creator that has all the possibilities, yet has a RM2K3 style menu as a side board for newbies with lesser skills. That'd be the game I'd want to pay for, even if I didn't make. Ugh, words are failing me today...

I wanna see a game where you can interact with everything. I once saw this game where you had like a force spell that could move ANYTHING. From a bookshelf onto your enemies, to opening up a water pipe and making enemies slip on the floor. Now, I just want it to go to the next step, where you can use spells to manipulate the water, or cast thunder on the water for a mega effect.

How about when you start up a game, you can put in whatever voice you want and the game will use that name in the voiceovers.

ie. instead of Lulu from FFX saying something like "Where is he?", she would say something like "Where is Tidus?"

I think that would rock... in more ways than one.

This Kinda old...Ever played Herc's, for PS1?

Hmm...I dunno. IŽve seen so many thing so far...And Suikoden pretty much fills anything that could be missing in any RPG...

Well, something IŽd kill to have is Fallout Online (which doesnŽt exist...) Or Fallout 3!! But this' got nothing to do with the subject...
