Title: Invalid Image Size?
Post by: Zerlina on April 01, 2006, 08:14:28 PM
I've just spent about 4 hours making a panorama, with the dimensions 240 x 520. The help file states that panoramas can be up to 640x640, or as low as 80x80, yet when I import this panorama, it tells me it is an invalid image size.
Oddly enough the battle background is said to be allowing only 240x320, but for some reason I can import this panorama when I use the backdrop category. I know I haven't mixed these two up, because when I go to set the parallax background, it doesn't show up if I've imported it to backdrop.
Can someone please help me? This panorama is extremely important to the game.

I know you're intelligent and have probably checked this, but quite often I've tried to import things into the wrong category by mistake, bringing up incorrect size errors. You checked for that, right?

Moved to the correct forum.

Maybe it has to be a certain proportion?

When I work with panorama/pics/Battle background etc, I often take a workable template and paste my image to it. Less time measuring etc, and you know for sure the size is okay.

Maybe this is something to concider as you might have made a small but fatal mistake with your original?

Just copy your image original, to a suitable copy of a panorama, cut away and edit so it fits.

edit: amg, byposted by two mooses. If they can't help you, how can I possibly?

Use a program like UFX to save with 256 colours and then you won't have to import it, just move the file into your game's panorama folder.

Do that program fix the picture somewhat when you remake it?

Cuz some pics I make 256 colour with paint, ends up looking like crap, and the original won't work in RPGM2k -_-

Yeah, UFX seems to only change the format to 256 colours, usually there is no notable difference after the 256 colour save in UFX

Yeah, UFX makes wonderful 256 colour pics.

Personally, I use paint to work on pictures, but ALWAYS use UFX to save them. NEVER use pictures made 256 by paint, they're horrible because paint uses a set 256 colours, UFX saves the pic using the 256 colours In The Picture.

I'm sure I'm trying to import it to the right category, because I tried several times. :-/ And I saved it with ultimate paint at 256 colours (it would alert me that it's invalid colour depth otherwise).

I can try again but I do'nt think it would work. Is this my version? Or am I seriously messing up something?

The problem is that the max. size for panoramas isn't 640 by 640. It's 640 by 480.
