Title: Movies end 2005 - now
Post by: Drace on April 03, 2006, 08:29:14 PM
I've been BAD with movies since November and I need to catch up. I'd like to know some of the major movies in from Nobember till now. So far I got:

- Ice Age 2
- Slither
- Date Movie
- V For Vendetta
and I might go for Brokeback Mountain, if I got nothing to do. An 8 on IMDB, which is very high.

I hear it's a drama, but I really don't like dramas. A gay cowboy drama. Drama is what turned me off, I can stand gays.

Yeah, screw drama. Now, if it had been a gay cowboy sitcom...

crash. and the weather man. I'm not sure if they're after november, but they are within the past year.

Don't even bother with Ice Age 2 or Date movie... Both are crap. V and Slither are both good though.

I hardly see ANY movies in the threatre, though recently I've been going to a bit more. I've seen Ice Age 2, its a decent movie, its pretty funny. The plot is kinda blah, they have to walk across the vally or whatever to get to a boat before the valley floods, but I think the movie was focusing on each indeviduals story rather than that part of it.

The other movie I've seen recently is Falure to Launch, I was kinda dragged to that one. It was a decent movie as well, no big action scenes, some comedy, it was basically a drama movie, but done rather well.

Slither is freaking awesome.

Brokeback Mountain was overrated because of the controversialnessitismisations. Wouldn't have won so many Oscars if it weren't for the gay.
Crash was my favorite movie of the year, despite Hotel Rwandaman. Seeeeeeeeeeeee.... Inside Man. Funny cause of the racism.

Indeed. Because it was a movie no one really was asking for, it won the awards. Hollywoods full of retarded assholes.

I want to see Slither though. If not only for Nathan Fillion. *Swear to god, if I dont get a Firefly Season 2 I'm going to go ape ****...*

Hollywood is stupid when it comes to awards. They award the movies that are 'emotional' or have some sort of 'hidden meaning' even though most people hate those movies because they're boring peices of crap.

Its kinda like a book I have to read for american lit II called The Fountainhead, its the  most boring pile of **** out there, but critits like it because it shows the authors idealolgy about objectivism, which by the way is also a big pile of crap, at least in the way the author is presenting it.

Um let's see...

The hills have eyes - I liked it alot.
Undisputed 2 - I haven't seen it, but my brother liked it so it's prolly good.
Tristan & Isolde - Something I wanna see, so I'll prolly watch it later.
The shaggy dog - Eh..doesn't look that great, so I dunno..
Failure to launch - Um..
Curious George - I enjoyed this movie, it was really cute and gave me some laughs.
Glory Road - Seems good, dunno.
King Kong - Ok move.
Final Destination 3 - An awsome horror movie, although the characters seemed a bit meh, but who cares as long as one or all of them die, right?
Madea's Family Reunion - The only parts I found in Madea was the parts with Madea, the other storyline was kind've boring and predictable..so I'm alittle confused with this movie.
Saw 2 - I enjoyed it, completely twisted and friggin awsome. Not scary like others thought, but then again neither was part 1..
Get rich or die trying - It was ok..
Bloodrayne - COMPLETE GARBAGE, Do not waste a thought on this trashie movie..
Firewall - I haven't exactly watched it..so meh
Rumor has it - Seems ok
The pink panther - Garbage..
Big Mamma's house 2 - It was pretty amusing.
16 blocks - Still have yet to see it.
Xeonflux - I enjoyed it, not many others did.
Just friends - Loved it
The tenants - It was ok at first, but then it got boring and then interesting again..so meh
Prime - It was amusing, but dragged from time to time.
UltraViolet - I actually liked it, although a few parts were um..overdone it seemed pretty decent. But this movie seems to have attracted mixed reviews, so you're better off seeing it yourself :p

Now for my top to favorites...

Memoirs of a Geisha, I loved it. The book is even better.
Narnia, it held true to the book from the landscapes to the characters, I love it.

Hope this helps, some may be before november I dunno XD

Like Farenheit 9/11. That movie is nothing but a fat guy telling you what to think. Yet because it was "hard pressing" and "pushed the issues" it got tons of great reviews. Boring piece of ****, yet it was "great".

Roadkill > Michael Moore

Well Farenheit 9/11 was some what comical such as bush in the classroom looking like a monkey as he counts down he minutes of him stalling. And the bush vacation. Since I am out of the country and have no cable(because I don't live in town I can't own it. CURSE YOU THIRD WORLD COUNTRY!!!!!) Anyway I though I just should say.

Drace, I can feel your undying love for me over here  :p  No seriously, my brother was watching it..and the part where he got shot just made the movie 'ok' for me since I was laughing <.< ''I got shot nine times!'' classic line. Crap, I forgot underworld 2...prolly cause I haven't seen it yet...*pouts*

Broke Back Mountain is a nice movie, treats the subject (gay love :x ) from a different perspective...and the production is good also. But itīs meh. Just like Million dollar baby: it doesnīt deserve half the publicity it has. Itīs meh.

Eh. It was ok. However, that sex scene about half way through was completely random and unnecessary. I'm almost sure its soul purpose was nay for plot nor storyline, but to see Whatserface's uncovered breasts.

Also, and this where the the real spoiler comes in,  the ending, yes, that shows you how much of a spoiler this is, because in the ending [GLOW]SPOILERGET![/GLOW] It was so obvious that someone was going through those rotor blades. And isn't it just an amazing coincidence that, despite the fact it fell through a large distance, the rotors ONLY stop after someone goes through it?

I warned you!

wehn I was watching that part before that I was thinking "Well they are going to snuggle and sleep.. wait... woah... o.o...wha.. nuuuu... what's this!... SEX.. its SEX. SEX!!! RANDOM SEX SCENE, MY EYES!" I actually said that in the theater people laughed and  looked at me weirdly. I actually expected something like biting and growling, thank  God that didnt happen.

How ignorant. Bashing Ayn Rand. I don't really like her philosophy, but her work, for me, is some of the most entertaining literature I have ever read.

Try thinking a little.

She wrote for, along with presenting her philosphy, art. Not necesarily entertainment. Likewise "emotional" movies with "hidden meanings" are also made for art, and expanding the mind. Making you think. Not to dote over the special effects. If it's not your thing, at least don't ignorantly dissmiss it as a waste of time and badmouth it. Just don't watch.

Sex scenes are stupid when thrown into a movie where they don't belong. Movies like American Pie and Wedding Crashers are built on those kinds of topics so it fits with the movie. I haven't seen underworld 2 (nor do I really want to) , but movies like the Matrix Reloaded where they just throw in a random sex scene are horrible. The scenes have nothing to do with the movie, and in many cases there are better ways to bring the ideas and concepts through than to use sex to do so. But in the media, sex sells, and they're absolutly right.

In no way to I get offended or anything if a movie throws a sex scene in a movie just to have a sex scene, I just think its stupid. In movies and games, I beleive every scene should be relavent to the whole movie or game, when something random is thrown in that has no real meaning or purpose, its just that, meaningless and without purpose.

Regardless of the sex scene, Underworld 2 is a freaking incredible movie. The first 10 minutes of Evolution completly blows the entirity of the first one away.

I saw Ice Age 2 recently... worth a few laughs. Overall it was a huge meh.

Hopefully Ima see Silent Hill in a week or so.

Ok, I only scanned over the page, but I sawUnderworld 2 and sex an awful lot, therefore, I have to see that movie. Anywho, I too had to read an Ayn Rand book: Anthem. I hated it (mostly because my dad grounded me and made me read the whole, admittedly short thing in one night), but after going back over it whilst cleaning my room for the first time in years (literally!), I see what people liked about it. I can't really put it into words, but it's something beautiful, yet horrific. Like a crying clown with a chainsaw.

My complaint about the Underworld movies is that they are "ZOMG VAMPIRAEES!111" I think the writers were having sex with vampires, who were giving them cheques in vampire sex dollars.

Underworld 3 is going to be called "Underworld 3: Vampires vampires vampires!" and then in the corner in small writing which will be cut off if you don't have Widescreen it will say "Warning: May contain Werewolves".

Too many vampires. :|

Edit: rofl, I replaced Werewolves with Vampires and lost the point of my post

yer but who cares if its random? It was an alright sex scene. NOW if it turned out like a Neo/Trinity thing I would have shot myself in the cinema.. seriously.

Anywho I do agree that random sex scenes are kinda stupid, but sometimes they do have good meaning, and it is usually an excuse for the director to think 'man i could get good money by showing her puppies off'. Meh. I don't make movies so I don't care.

That may be the reason for the repelling...

I do agree that movies should have a logical chain of events. Like, you couldnīt put a sex scene in the middle of a shooting of Black Hawk Down...but that scene, it wasnīt THAT out of the blue, and since itīs sex, just let it be...

Media does portry thinks that really happen, thats why theres a movie about a computer world known as the matrix, why movies have vampires, monsters, and everything.

The only reason you like things like that in movies is because you know it won't happen to yourself.

And I have no problems with scenes like that in movies like american pie, wedding crashers, euro trip, etc. But when I watch something like the matrix or underworld, I want to watch it for the action and stuff. If I wanted to watch a sex scene, I would watch p0rn.

Movies should stick with what they're based on and shouldn't throw extra garbage in it.

I dont think people should complain. Like I said, sex happens. Its not my fault if a good 90% of this forum is so desprate (or young... or whatever you wanna say) that they're almost to the point of celebacy, shunning all that is sex. The only objection I'd have would be looking at Tony Curran's ass. Kate Beckinsale's hot.

Also, if you remember the scene it was right after a fucking awesome chase scene with Marcus... so it was like an intermission between actions... or something.

Grr... fuckin censors...

Your not getting the point here. I dont want see sex in over the hedge now do i? No.

I also dont want to see sex in a jackie chan movie.

Sex has it places in movies, like said, james bond. Besides I never said the sex scene in Underworld 2 should be getting rid off. i just said it was damn random. Hence it was what I screamed at the theater and got a weird look.

Dude, have you even read my posts? I said sex scenes are good in movies where they belong, I listed such movies twice already.

We're not shunning all that is sex, at least I'm not, I'm just denouncing it for being in movies that they really don't belong in. I'm in no way offended by such scenes either, they're just stupid, and thats what I think of them as, stupid.

You should really read more carefully before making a comment such as yours.

And heres the question, why the hell would I not want to see sex scenes in movies if I am 'desperate'? Any semi-inteligent person would realize anyone who is 'desperate' for sex would want to see more of it, and not 'shun' it.

Yeah, people once i thought i wanted to see a sex scene again, and said if I was desperate. I was weirded it out: all I wanted to see what was outside the window.

this was all during my junior year in HS as a teeacher's aid.

Yeah I am not offended by it either. I am offended if they are too descriptive. Hopefully ppl know what i mean by too descriptive.

I generally agree; I'm not offended by sex scenes in movie, that's just crazy. It takes a hell of a lot to offend me. And we all love a bare breast here in there; however sex scenes can take it off of a good movies score. Especially when it seems that they are shouting "boobs=money!".

Some movies where sex scenes might be inappropriate.
The Passion of the Christ
Elmo in Grouchland
A Goofy Movie
The Power Rangers movie
Bambi
The Jetsons meet the Flintstones.

Now thinking about ity that scene wasn't random at all. It fit in. i couldn't remember what was before that bit. Well, I wouldn't say most are desperate, cos in reality I ain't, I just like sex and the multiple forms of it easier acquired off the net or at your local adult shop.
