I've done that since I first invaded TK nearly 5 years ago.  It's such a habit, I do it without thinking.  It used to be "Tea? Cookie?" as well...

Yes, I agree. The Smilie selection here isn't the best, but still, you can use smilies from other forums if needed!

As for your birthdate, for some odd reason, you can't have a birthdate that took place before... 1970 or so. I have no clue why this happens...
