Title: My game - Within. Need advice!!
Post by: Poncho on April 21, 2006, 12:11:31 PM
Uhm k, so I'm making a game.. :) I will use this thread later for info and demo and ****, but right now I need some quick help on the gamma..

I think my Comp is crazy bright, and wanted someone else to tell me how these screenies look on there comps.

On the first one, the pic of the girl should be dark, but yoo should still see it's a girl, and her face.

On the 2nd one the upper half screen should be dark, like in a cave, but you should still see things pretty well.

The 3rd one should have a light equal to a regular menu.

So, if anyone could answer how these look on different comps, I would be grateful :)

*UPDATED*

Uhm, okay, so I have a dilemma... If anyone could give me some advice :D

I recently discovered how to do the basics in a Dungeons and Dragons system in Rpg maker, and this is a Pnp game I really enjoy, know about and got tons of rule books as information about.

Now I have  already started my rpg "Within" with the regular battle system, but I REALLY want to make a DnD game, and I don't know what to do :(

The thing is, in the begining in my game you face pretty fierce looking demons that you fight, and in the regular battle system, this reflects that pretty well; the fight is long, somewhat hard, and you really feel you're fighting a superior being.

With a DnD game, on the other hand, this wouldn't be the case :(

With a starter HP of about 8, a Base attack bonus of 0 (Main char, should start as a nonfighter/noncaster, only to become that later)
there is no way in hell I can make a combat like that at level 1. The fight will be helluva short and/or helluva hard. Also, dnd combats are much, much more random (with hits/misses, dice rolls, crits etc) so I have to have that in mind aswell. But C'mon! It's still dnd!! :))

What do you as a rpg maker do when you face whims like this? :S

I'm also dying to start making an Mecha Rpg, Rahxephon/EVA-type, with a really cool CBS with animated pics I'm doing...

...but it's kinda starting to get overwhelming :D

I have a very good monitor which is brighter than normal monitors, and I can see all three just fine. None of them are too dark, although 1 and 2 are slightly dim.

I like the look of this... a CMS, no less. Post some more information please...

They look fine, if you want the girl in the first screen to just be part of the background.

I say, if you can't decide on one idea, fnd a way to combine them all.

A DnD system would be good with mechs with long range weapons, because misses will happen randomly if moving.

The thing is, all I've done storywise in the game is already heavily medieval influenced, so there's no way I can use my mecha ideas, in there, but yea I might use dnd in the Mecha game aswell, when I come to make it :)

What I want to know is how the rpg maker community feels about a DnD game Oo Would they play it, even if it's different from most games, in gamestyle, and maybe difficulty and character progression.

Also, I've seen alot nice CBS's in games, and they seem to add alot to the game, and if I'm to do a CBS, it has got t o be dnd :)

I, myself, would like to play a DnD engine in RPG Maker.
