Why do the Char/Face Sets of the online generators get the 'invalid colour depth' when edited with any other program?

In Rm2k3 the image has to be in 256-color format. Are you using the Paste From command (or whatever it's called in the program you're using)? If you are, Open the image instead and it shouldn't change color depth.

If I edit the actual image, it changes to 24-bit.

Then you have to change it back to 256-colours

When I do that, the details of the PNG change to something different... I mean it!

There's no way to get around the color loss... unless you're willing to go into Paint/IDraw/Whatever and edit it to look better.

Yes there is! There is definetly a way to get around the color loss! I do it all the time now. Say goodbye to color loss once and for all! Go get Ultimate FX, a free image editor that can convert 24 bit to 256 bit quickly and easily!

Edit: Sorry for sounding like some commercial guy...

Anyway, I tried Ultimate FX. It saves fake PNGs and they're still 24-bit, no matter what I do. No, wait... AH, IT WORKED!! MY SYSTEM RIP OF CHRONO TRIGGER WORKS!!! I think it was because I edited the colour limit to 256... No, it works because I saved it as a GIF in UFX, then saved it as a PNG in Paint..

Yeah, that's about it. Except that it might sometimes mess up some colours, I noticed that in my CT system rip.
