Title: Favorite and worst...
Post by: Midnight9795 on April 25, 2006, 03:17:17 AM
Movies! In general! Just name some, and describe why you enjoyed them or didn't enjoy them!

My favorites:

Sin city..just awsome in general. I loved the story lines and the characters. The black and white didn't bother me neither.

Memior of a Geisha was a well done movie over the book, of course the book destroyed the movie with teh extras. Still a good movie tho.

Resident evil 1 & 2..do I really have to say anything for them? :P

Sherk 1 & 2, omg I loved it! It was so funnie, and I can't wait til they make the puss'in'boots movie.

V for Vendetta, very amusing and just great.

Troy, I loved the book..but seeing the fight scenes made my day.

X-men 1 & 2, they did this job good..I can't wait for the third one to come out. wh00t!

Worsts:
Harry potter 2-4...do I really have to explain? Just garbage...

Alexander..omg, the longest and most borin movie ever made. Even the sex scene was boring, how do you manage this?

War of worlds... I liked some parts, but it was just to meh..Dokota's constant screaming annoyed me greatly.

Pink panther..why was this movie made? I feel asleep in the first five minutes!

The hulk, they did a horrible job with it... the only interesting part was the fight with the dogs..

Best, I don't know. I don't really watch movies that often. But the worst is probably... hmm... I guess The Core. What a crappy movie that was.

Favorites:
Tremors 1-2
Highlander
Serenity

Worst:
Tremors 3-4. It only had Burt Gummer. He was great, but his personality gets real annoying when there's no one to balance him off.
Highlander 2. They're ALIENS! FTW?

Troy was the worst movie I ever saw. I don't know how a movie with so much nudity can be boring. I want my three hours back.

Hell, I fell asleep, woke up, and the damn thing was still going.

In conclusion, Troy sucks. The end.

My favourite movie is Shaun of the Dead. A classic English comedy filled with so many quotable lines. It is one of the best things England has made since, oh I don't know, Australia.

Followed by Donnie Darko (a fantastic Time Travel related movie) Terminator 2 (I've watched this at least 20 times in my life) and some other movie I can't remember.

It's an attempt at capturing the humor from the old PPink Panther movies. I new it wouldn't be able to emulate it well. I'll post my favs/worsts when I have more time later on.

I think Pink Panther was, if not the best, at least a faily good movie. Maybe it's me, but I like that kind of humour in the movie.

 Fav.:
 -Columbine
Because any documentary by Michael Moore is good to me. And this one he was better than ever.

 Worst:
-Gladiator (I dunno how's it called outside Brazil...)
Just... no... I have a book called "The biggest movies errors", this movie has 10 pages of it's own, all the other movies have one paragraph, see what I mean?

Favorite:
-Memoirs of a Geisha: Excellent movie. Loved it.
 -Dracula: A classic.

Worst:
-Dracula 2000: This is just lame. Really.
-The Incredible Hulk: I didn't like it. Lacks the mass-destruction, haha

My opinion.

Since I'm Horror fan, I'll keep myself to my "area".

The good, the bad and the ugly! Let's start with... (No particulary order)

The good:

First up, 'The Shinning'. This is one movie I love. Even though the house is the main 'evil', the main character (Here's JOHNNY!!!) just takes it to a new level. Slowly but surely going insane till the outburst comes... he needs to kill his wife and kid. Great movie.

Second is 'Evil Dead II'. I LOVE this movie. The tale about a guy and his girlfriend, going to a nice quiet place in the woods. A wooden shed, soon to be the housing of evil. In this place, they find the Necromancier, the book of dead, and a tape. When they play the tape, a voice tells them about his discoveries and reads a part from the Necromancier. This is were the fun starts. The movie has a perfect balance of comedy and horror. Maintaining the exciting scenes where Ash hides from the evil spirit, battles the corpse of his loved one he had to kill to the comedy part where he has to fight his own hand and eventually cut it off. A must-see.

Also on the list is not a particulary a horror. It's a thriller, but thrillers and horror are the same category to me.
'Silence of the Lambs'. Oh how I killed my brain watching this. The intelligence of Hannibal Lecter took me down. He truelly is the greatest character ever greated. "It puts the lotion on it's skin."
A must-see too.

Now, the bad. There are a few movies I've seen that really killed my braincells off one by one. One of these movies is 'Trolls 2'. Who ever thought of this crap should deserve to die. Worst movie ever, not even worth writing about. Just don't see it.

'The Hulk', a horrid movie. I watched it and at the end I asked myself. WHAT!? THE!? HELL!? Did just happend to me? Like Mid said, don't watch it.

'The Ring'. Bad, bad, bad, BAAAAD American remake of a Japenese classic. Fell asleep in this movie.

Now, teh ugly! Just google up Rosie O'Donnell or Barbara Streisand. Good job, you found the ugly!

Drace off.

Ooh, movies. My department.

Pulp Fiction: THE classic 90's movie. Drugs, guns, big black dudes getting raped, what else could you want?

11:14: Trippy, funny, and it's one of those you just have to see twice.

V for Vendetta: I just saw this one for the first time three days ago... And a second time two days ago. This movie kicks more *** than Steel Toe Boots.

A Clockwork Orange: This movie is demented and crazy. It's a bit slow, but overall, it really rules.

Punch Drunk Love: Not Sandler's normal role, but easily for the better. One of the only romances I'll even watch anymore, let alone put on my top list.

Donnie Darko: A not-so-Science-Fiction Science Fiction. Though the main star just played in a *Gag* queer romance *Gag* it doesn't change my opinion of this amazing flick.

Kill Bill Volume 1 & 2: From the maker of Pulp Fiction. A kick ***, old school-style movie that slightly makes poke at old Japanesse movies, but who cares?

Magnolia: Has got to be my favorite movie ever...

Title:
Post by: Bluhman on April 25, 2006, 08:04:15 PM
Best:

The Incredibles: Probably the only movie I've seen recently to date that had good character development throughout.

Shaun of the dead: See Razor's Post

Kung-Fu hustle: Similar to Shaund of the dead, except a bit lower of calibur and not horror, but Kung-fu movies.

Worst:

Underworld II: ARGH! SEX!!

Bloodrayne: ARGH! SEX!! AGAIN!!!

Ultraviolet: VEEEEERY similar to the above two, but no sex here, thank freaking god.

March of the Penguins: See DB's Post.

Yeah, I don't see many movies.

I have to give it pixel or whatever, they do have good movies..The incredibles, Finding Nemo, Monster Inc., Ice age 1 & 2.. I love them, so funnie XD.

I like Kill Bill 1 more then 2, maybe it was the music that killed it for me? and the lack of action?

Bloodryane was such grabage...one the girl was horrible, there was no hot guy..they killed michelle..the fighting was stupid...the ending was friggin retarded.. ''Lemmie bite you..you can't die..please..stay with me..'' ''No..don't..I refuse to become one of those things...not again.. just let me die..'' ''...ok..'' ''...'' *Ryane is now queen of the vampires* wtf man!? I can't believe I wasted my life on this..

Ultraviolet I did like, I dunno why..I just did XD

Lord of the rings, even tho I only liked the hobbit outta the whole book collection (cause it was the easiest to understand :P) I loved the movies.. well, I hated Frodo and Sam's parts, they just need to kiss and get it over with..but Aragon and the rest were pretty good.

Nanria was my movie, I actually cried in the ending even tho I knew what was gonna happen -.-;; shut up,  :P They held true to the book completely, thank god..not a trashie film like the potters ;.;

I have one favorite movie that I can watch repeatedly and not get tired  of seeing: Hackers (1995), Staring Johnny Lee Miller (recently in Aeon Flux), Angelina Jolie, Marc Anthony (the singer, small role), Jesse Bradford (from the swim stalker movie), Matthew Lillard (Scooby doobie doo!), and much more. I find it more of a comedy than a serious movie, especially now-a-days when a 28.8 bps modem is considered old school.

I hate: Napolean Dynamite

My friend bugged me about it forever, telling me it was SO funny. I have a pretty good sense when it comes to movies, and it was telling me to steer clear of this one. One day with nothing to do (I just wanted to chill) he puts it in. For the next 30 mins to an hour it was dead silent. Probably halfway through, he noticed I hadn't made a peep nor chuckle and asks if I want to turn it off and did so before I could answer.

My review: Not funny.

Whats the big deal? Everyone raved over this movie like it was zaney and witty comedy. Some might accuse me of not getting the humor. I got the humor, it just wasn't funny. Even thinking back on the movie - the tatertots in the pocket, the picture he drew of that chick, the wild grandma, the time machine, etc - not even a pity laugh. I definately has nothing to do with the target audience, because my best friend, with whom I share many similarities, likes the movie (not in the sense that he would watch it over and over and belly laugh).

BUT, I wouldn't expect everyone to get why I think Hackers is such a great movie.

HAHAHA, I guess you're talking about the stairs scene? I mainly chose it based on the merit of the last 15 minutes. William Hurt was amazing.

If you actually went to Columbine and lived in Littleton, youd realize how full of crap Michael Moore is. That movie was just another "blame someone so I can get money" thing for him.

I totally forgot to mention how awesome just about any Miyazaki movie is.

Don't Be A Menace. Great movie. Wayne Bros for ever!

EDIT:

MP and Mr. Bean are good. You should die.

Oh, and Charaman. The Excorcist? Scary? How can ANYONE find that movie scary? The Blair Witch Project is scary begin evening and will almost kill you if you watch it (first time) at night in or near the woods. The Exorcist is not even 1/100th as scary at night. It's more comedy.

Agree, blair witch was boring and corny. When I say i liked the Exorcist, I don;t mean because it was scary. I like it because it was a well made film that wasn't just about making you jump.

I think the exorcist of Rose or whatever was so friggin boring...It wasn't even scary at all. I found the grudge to be a good movie, of course the acting could've been a bit better...the Japanese verison was better, but the ghost wasn't as scary (blue ppl..wtf?). Also, saw 1 and 2 was anything but scary..I pretty much feel asleep during saw 1..

the exorcism of emily rose could've been a lot better if the score was more subdued and the acting was better. The grudge made me laugh. A lot. Saw is a tired concept.
